Heroes Chronicles on Windows 7
I just installed Heroes Chronicles, but sadly they don't seem to work on Windows 7. Each time I want to start a chapter, the game crushes right before entering the Main Menu (I do get to see a black screen for a nanosecond, with the cursor changed to the Heroes III variant).
I get a message telling me that the game has stopped working, and anything I tried to fix the game was in vain. WoG had some problems, but I solved them by replacing some files. I tried the same thing for Chronicles, but it's not working. I even let Windows to search for a solution, as a last desperate attempt to make the games work.
Has anyone experienced the same problems? And if you did, how did you solved them?

Yeah, the exact same thing happened to me (made an account just for this!). I notice that the older version of Windows you run it in compatibility mode for, the less often it crashes. Example (each time is an estimate): on XP SP3 it crashed once every few minutes, on XP SP2 it crashed once every several minutes, and on 98 (on which I am currently playing) it crashes once every several hours. The mouse freezes up on me sometimes; don't worry about that if it happens to you.
Just right-click and go to Properties, Compatibility Tab, click the check for running it in compatibility mode, and select Windows 98/Windows Me. If that doesn't work, I can't help you.

Well, what does it do exactly?
If it randomly crashes or won't even load (you get the black screen with the cursor for a second) then has a message: "Heroes Chronicles (or Heroes of Might and Magic III) has stopped working", that means you go to the game application, right click, Properties, go to Compatibility, and tell it to run for Windows 98/Windows ME.
That's the platform the game was made to run on, so it shouldn't crash afterward.
I have a Heroes Chronicles chapter (Dragons) and Heroes III Complete on a Windows 7 computer and they both work fine with compatibility mode set.
Note that after setting compatibility mode, it may ask you for administrator privileges. Hope that's not a problem.
If this doesn't help, then describe exactly what the game does and when it does it to make it unplayable.

I am in the same boat.
My heroes 3 complete works fine but Heroes Chronicles just won't start.
Just get a message that says it has stopped working.
Running Windows 7 64 bit.

For fun's sake I decided to brush off my trusty ol' copy of H3 + expansions/chronicles. I have completed H3 + xpac's and was about to delve into the chronicles games but loading the first one up when the elders are about to send Tarnum from the Hall of Judgement it hiccups for a split second and as the scene is changing it crashes.
Im runnin Win 7 32-bit ( i would just install win 98 or ME but I dont have a free IDE slot on the motherboard and SATA doesnt have the NTLDR )
any ideas on how I can get the Heroes Chronicles games to run?
Plz / Thnx
Edit: Compatibility modes and Run as Admin do not make it any better either
