Five Families (OOC)
New York 1925
The Volstead Act has prohibited distribution of Beer, Whiskey and other strong liquors. This makes the golden chance for the crime syndicates. Opening up a huge market of thirsty citizens willing to pay fortunes for a drink. Easy money earned, easy fortunes built with nearly no risk. Al Capone sits at the top of the Chicago underworld. While in New York five families struggle to achieve monopol on the black market for Liquor. Bullets are flying, cars and buildings exploding and the bodies keep piling up at the morgue. Blood fills the street.
Flavor
That's the time and place were this rp will take place. You will play as an enforcer for the mafia families as they strive to take over New York City. It's dangerous works, especially since both the federal government and other mafioso aim to put you down permanently. But if you manage to get around it has it's pay-offs. Action, excitement and lots of money. But before you start taking to the streets there is a few things you need to know.
1. You need to know who your friends and allies are, who at the same time are your rivals in the underworld. Also you need to know how a family is organised. For starters:
-There is the five families in New York(which you will be a part of during this game. You can choose which one who owe your alligience). These are the main families and will be the center of attention:
-The Bonanno, coming in from Queens.
-The Colombo, coming down from Bronx.
-The Gambino, moving up from Staten Island.
-The Genovese, placed in Manhatten.
-The Lucchese, stationed in Brooklyn.
-Then there's the other crime cyndicates. They won't be having a big part in this, but they will be mentioned and sometimes members might come to NY to accomplish different tasks:
-The Chicago Mob Cyndicate, Illinois . Ruled by Al Capone and open for any white non-italian. Often looked down on by the others.
-The Scarfo family from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
-The DeCavalcante family form New Jersey. The one closest to NY families both geographically and relation wise.
-The Detroit Partnership, Michigan. Consisting of many drifferent mafia families, it's a ticking bomb ready to explode.
-Next up is the organisation of a Cosca(italian for family).
-At the top sits the Don, he is the head of the familiy and the boss of the cyndicate. It's he who makes all the decisions and decides who'll live and die.
-Beside him there is the Consigliere(Advicor). he is the one giving all the advices and suggestions as to what action the Don should take.
-Next is the Sotto Capo(Underboss). He's the Don's right hand man. Whenever the Don's unable to make descisions or unavailable to lead the family, the Sotto Capo is the one calling the shots.
-Beneath you have the Caporegimes(Captains). They controll small territories within the family territory. They are also the ones leading the family's army of enforcers.
-Soldato(Soldier) are officially the lowest members of a family. They are the ones doing all the work and excecuting the orders given by the Don. Remember only italians or half-italians may become soldatos.
-Then completely at the bottom you have the Associates(You!). They have yet to be "made". As with the Soldato, they are the gunmen of the family. Doing all kinds of work, from collecting money to distributing liquor. Even killing people.
2. Always know the face of your enemies and be carefull when dealing with strangers. You never know when they will pull a gun to your face.
Amongst the biggest threats is the federal departments Bureau of Investigation(BIO) lead by J. Edgar Hoover and the Treasury department. Then there's also the NY PD.
3. Then you need to know how to make money and build up a steady income. Extortion, protection money, prostutuion, gambling and bookmaking is the most common ways of earning money. But the biggest cash, the ones all want a share of is in illegal bootlegging. Black market trade of liquor. Shop-heists, hijacking trucks and bank robberies also works, but are more risky and draws unwanted attention.
All the money comes form rackests such as shops and stores, night clubs, hotels and bar and resturants, some which contain brothels or illegal gambling houses in the backroom.
4. "His guy pulls a knife, your guy pulls a gun. He sends one of your men to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue!". The last thing and the most important thing you need to know is the weapons. It's crucial to be prepared for any situation that may occur. And an impressive weaponry might prove valuable. As Capone said "You can get further with a kind word and a gun, than you can with just a kind word". So make sure you got the right tools for the job:
-Switchblade, baseball bat, knuckle-dusters and garrote(threads used for strangling people) are usefull when dellivering a silent death.
-1911 Colt .45, .38 Snub Nose, S&W Magnum, M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle(BAR), SMG Thompson 1921(Tommy Gun) and the Lupara(italian sawn-off shotgun with either one or two barrles) make up you arsenal designed for shoot-outs and high risk jobs were there's a high probability you need fight your way out.
-Molotov cocktail, dynamite and bombs on the other hand is perfect when dellivering a message or under a bank robbery. Blow up a car or a shop to scare off your enemies.
Thats all of the important info you need. All the rest will be explained to you when the need rises. All thats left now is to make your char, head out to the streets and the game is on. To build up a char here's what you hve to do:

Edit: All chars start with 1000$ in cash and two weapons chosen from these four: Switchblade, baseball bat, .38 Snub Nose and .45 Colt. They can be in any combo, even two of the same weapon. For instance two Colts.
Edit: The Ic will be up Saturday if not a fifth posts their char before that.

Incorrect, there are cases where non-Italian French and Austrians have received higher ranks than "associate".
Btw, shouldn't chigaco syndicate be called "The outfit"?
EDIT:I was kinda reffering to history there, it's your game ofc.

@ DarkShadow: I didn't know that but it's very inetresting. And yes it should be "The outfit", I just changed it causes it sounds better.
@ Kipshasz: I can't just give you a car, but it's possible to steal one. And it's the 20'ies, so you should be able to find a Dueseberg.

Biography(Optional): Adrian Lopez was born in Jamaica, and at the age of 13, proved himself to be a very efficient thief and tango dancer. He continued his street lifestyle until he reached the jackpot at age 16. He stole a boat ticket to New York City and a green card, along with 10,000 American dollars. As soon as he got to New York City, he met the Genovese family, and stole from them repeatedly. Fortunately for him, the Genovese has never caught him, nor realized it was him that has done all of the stealing. At age 18, the Lucchese invited him to join their family. At first he refused, and continued with his work, but soon enough, he needed protection from other gangs, the police, and the Genovese, who have caught onto his acts. He then joined the Lucchese and worked for them for 1 month until he was called back to Jamaica to help his sickly mother. He stayed in Jamaica for three years until his mother died when he was 21. He went back to New York then, but didn't go back to the Lucchese until he was 23, which was 2 months from now.

I don't particulary mind. But for safety sake let's say he gets some sort of pastel suit later ok Also you get to choose two weapons to start with. Yu find wich weapons you get to choose from under the char sheet at the introduction.

Well, a typical hired facepuncher of that time like Berny's char, would be dressed in typical suit pants, a normal or sleeveless shirt and wear straps. Dreadlocks could be tied into a tail.

Appears slim, but is in fact quite muscular. Wears common garments. Dark grey pants and vest, white shirt and a red tie. His shoes are always polished and has a very clean look. Rarely wears a jacket or a trenchcoat. Never wears any hats, except in winter or harsh weather. Also wears black leather gloves.

Sent to live with his uncle Vito in New York he just went from one mafia evironment to another. His Uncle was a soldato and a thrusted friend to the dangerous mafia boss Joe Masseria, but was killed 10 years later during the Castellammarese War by Salvatore Maranzanos soldatos. Filled with rage and hatred over the loss of his uncle, Salvatore swore revenge and joined up with Masseria's right hand man Charles Luciano. He was both present during and took an actice part in the murder of Maranzano 5 years later. Ever loyal to the Genovese since they are Masseria's old family and runs a deep hatred towards the Bonanno, cause they are the remnants of Maranzano's old family.

Nationality: Presumed Dutch
Family: Recently contacted by the Gambino
General Appereance: Lanky with a slight pot belly, blond hair that borders on white and a neatly trimmed goatee.
Clothing: Beige shirt, brown pants, black riding boots, dark brown duster and slouch hat. Often wears a silver signet ring on each hand and often smokes cigars. Favors practicallity over looks in clothing.
Biography: Everybody knows that 'Harrold "Harry" Godwin' is only an alias that he works under, nobody knows his real name. He is known to have several passports and all of them are reasonably convincing fakes. It is presumed he is Dutch and he is known for having been partially responsible for the running of a succesfull smugling operation on the Western Front that catered both sides during WWI. Rumour has it that Harrold also worked for the German Secret Service(Preußische Geheimpolizei)during the war, but was fired for ignoring regulations and being bribed. After the war, Harrold worked under an English Lord and Big Game hunter, Lord Tufton, where he ran the less legal sides of the Lords expeditions. In this time Harrold met his best friend Stephen Percy. After saving eachothers lives, Stephen and Harrold became Bloodbrothers. During this and WWI, Harrold learned his way around nearly every varity of firearm, and has become quite a reasonable marksman. (Harrold heavily favors German guns, many of which are souvenirs of WWI) Harrold has arrived in New York about a year ago and has since then made a name for himself as a verry reliable contact. He manages to get a hold on anything for the right price(Usually skimming a bit of the top). His motto is "If I can't get it, nobody can." and so far he has proven himself right. Lately, the Gambino Family has shown intrest in setting up a liquor smuggling operation from Canada with Harrold. (Harrold has a girlfiend but I have not worked this out yet)

In conversations, Harrold will be civil and polite but he will withhold information. He will keep his business to himself and will only reveal things if absolutely necesary. Years of working under aliasses had trained Harrolds acting skillsso he can speak in a manner of accents and can tell boldfaced lies while making them seem earnest. If possible, he would rather withhold information than lie.
Harrold would try to avoid fights, while a skilled gunsman he's not much of a brawler. Harrold favors silent assasination over voilently spraying bullets with submachineguns(Harrold thinks of submachineguns as wastefull, but he cannot deny it's usefullness).
