End of a Chapter
It has been awhile, and it was fun..but I am afraid I have to close the book on a chapter in my life. I've talked it over with the other Moderators, and despite everything they said..I believe it is time.
I have sent an Email to Val, and due to some other things that are going on that I am not at liberty to discuss..in a couple of weeks I will be laying down my Sword and Shield. I've tried to be a good mod, and lead by example, but as somebody pointed out..I think with my heart not my head. Discussions about who will be replacing me in the forums I Moderate will be taking place.
It is time for a changing of the guards. I will not be leaving HC, instead my role will just be .. changing. I want to thank everybody for their support, their help, and the times they gave me a swift kick in the pants.
Now on the cusp of this announcement, it my task to announce that their might be a few changes coming. I am not at full liberty to discuss, but an announcement soon might make a few things clear.
I will post more information as I am authorized to do so. Thank you for your time and patience.

The end of a chapter shouldn't be a sad occasion, but rather an invitation to flip the page and see what comes next. Keep on reading if you're a determinist or writing if you're an interdeterminist and don't let the bumps on the chair slow you down!

Ok, there have been some proposed changes, that I am now at liberty to discuss. The first is Moderators having more authority to act outside of just specific forums. IE there would be no moderators for specific forums..all Moderators would be able to delete, penalize, give bonues etc for all forums. This one is a popular one with the other moderators, because there are times when a Mod for a certain forum is not on and quick action is needed.
Two new levels of moderation. Assistant Admin and Assistant Moderator. (AA and AM) The AA will have a square shield, but no sword..the AM will have a sword but no shield. The AM would only be able to issue silences, authorise avatars, and that is it. The AA would have the power to do temporary bans if needed, and to promote people to AMs. This one will be much debated, and heavily. (the names given for these new levels are not the final ones)
Larger picture sizes (avatar sizes). 100x100 is being considered.
Auto Picture upload..where members can upload their own avatar, but it won't be accessable or viewable until a AM, Mod, or AA get a chance to review it (so nothing naughty) and authorise it.
A block feature..that lets you ignore hcms and blocks emails from people on your ignore list. Which there will be a box for a list on your profile page where you just type the user name of the person you want to ignore. We are unsure of how many names will be able to be placed on the list. Be aware that the person you ignore will recieve a message that their HCM's and/or emails can not be delievered. You however will not be notified of any attempt by them to send an HCM or email.

The title is "end of a chapter". For me, the ending of a chapter means building suspends to "What will happen now? How will our heroes get out of this pinch? Is there still hope left?" etc.

I think all those changes would be highly welcomed. The place has barely been modified since 2003 and new features could liven things up.
Don't kill QPs again though.
