Binabik takes the "news" the wrong way for an adult.

Yes it's highly distorted, no one said you should believe what they say, but you still hear about some things. For example, with a "end of the world" type of news, you at least find out who's the wacko behind it, or what idea he has (even if crazy). That qualifies as 'news' to me.

If news say that, for example, North Korea fired a nuke, that's the fact I'm interested in -- I don't care about the 'subjective' or 'opinions' in the news and ignore them, I only collect the facts.

@ Phoenix, yes I voted "word of mouth". I might not hear about it right away, but I will eventually.

@Death, not sure what you mean that I take news the wrong way, because I don't take it at all.

I'm not sure if you guys got my point or not. It's not so much that the news is biased (although it's that too). And it's not just that it's negative. It's that it's so concentrated. Like there is stuff on the local news just about every day that you might go your entire life without ever seeing. It's not representative of the world we live in, or even the small part of the world we live in.

By collecting news events (exceptions to the norm) and concentrating them, it makes it appear that the events are far more common than they really are.

For example let's say that on any given day, one out of a million people jumps off the roof of their house. Now if you live in a news coverage area of 2 million people, and every day the news shows 2 people jumping off the roof of their house, and you've seen this on the news every day for years and years, over time you've seen this thousands of times and it starts to seem normal. But it's not normal, it's only 1 out of a million people.

You criticise it, but would you bother reading a newspaper the headline of which was "Another ordinary day for the vast majority of the Earth's population."?

Nope. I don't want to watch/read the news at all, not on a daily basis. There just isn't enough news that's important enough to want daily reports. I don't mean that in a way that the events aren't important. I mean it's normally just not important for me to know about it. And virtually none of it is important for me to know about it ASAP.

It also starts getting really redundant after a while. It's mostly the same old stuff that just keeps repeating. It might be different names and different places and a different flavor of the day, but it's still pretty much the same stuff.

Speaking of news, I felt a bit sad when it was reported that the talented and creative Alexander McQueen had commited suicide. Okay, to be honest I almost didnt know who it was except some famous fashion designer that had something going on with Lady Gaga but then I saw this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OjNxOIPh1o and I do not understand how people can say such things about a person who was just being himself.

So much goes in other peoples life that you dont know.
I know that I have a lot of secrets and thoughts that I will keep for myself. Perhaps that is why I created an alter ego of myself.

If I had the power to destroy or remake the Earth (including myself), I would have done it. Okay, in reality I probably wouldn't but it's a cool thought. xD

Via Internet ... there is everything I need ... saves paper and time ... for example I don't like sport news and I am getting really annoyed when they begin to talk about sports and I know that the weather news will be in the very end ... can't wait that long, I am just checking what I am interested in.
