New player help !
Hia all 
I have been playing heroes/TOH for over a year now ! And I have seen several players ( mainly players who have been playing single player/ Multiplayer / lan / etc. )
AND now they feel that they will try out the game online....Well you have come to the right place
Some might at this point ask themselves WHAT IS TOH ( Tournament Of Honour ) AND :
1) TOH is a competitive ladder system. Look here for details. www.toheroes.com/ <--- Link to mainpage!!!
Players put passwords on games not to keep you out, but to control who joins.
If a game has a password,read the info and zone message them.
BUT some still have problems getting the game 'up and running' i.e. INSTALLATION/ZONEFILES ..........
BUT look no further
I have made a primitive installation guide to you new players, primitive BUT it works ( specially for you that have AB, SoD,Complete )
A) PLAYING ;
1)Make sure your version is compatible with the host or the ones entering your game
2)Try not to have to many maps in your maps folder ( slows the launch considerably ) just use copy/paste and move some of the maps that you dont play into another folder.( remember to use winzip when downloading ToH/MaH maps )
3)After you or the host launches just wait a few sec/min to get into the 'other' lobby.
4)If YOU are the host! After launch you will get 2 options :
a)New game
b)Load game
Press new game ( if this IS a new game, Load IF its a saved game )
B) INSTALLATION ;
1) Un-install zonefiles ( USING add/remove ONLY )
2) Un-install the game from computer ( USING add/remove ONLY )
3) Install Heroes to this directory ONLY :
C:/Programfiles/3do/heroes3
Make sure that you install it to progamfiles and NOT to program files ( last option has space between program and files.I have seen the comp install it into this directory many times and it does not work 99% of the times )
4) RESTART
5) Run gameupdate ( from your heroes folder )
6) After your update Launch the game in single player and let the'movie' run out. Then you start a new game and save day 2. Then EXIT the game..
7) Install the zonefiles
After this you are now ready to play online heroes, BUT beware playing at home vs. the computer is NOTHING compared to online gamming. So you might have some other questions, most can be answered from the mainpage,but if you can't find your answer there just ask in the ToH lobby

Just to make you completely confused, ToH is now known as MaH( Myths and Heroes),since HeroesIV has been released.

Very good info UT, i couldnt have written it better myself 
One advice for further posts here might be that u use more space between the text, that way it gets easier to read it.

Greetings all,
I am sorta new to 'Zone multiplayer and I having some trouble. I followed the above guide, but the same thing keeps happen. What happens you ask? Well.. whether I host or join a game, once the game launches, heroes starts and plays the music, and then just sits at the main menu. I have made sure I am patched and running the same version as the other players and still nogo.
I had tried 'The Zone about aa year ago, and it worked once and then I never tried it again. Any help would be very cool.. Thanks in adavance.

Why do I need to do this ? Please explain in non techno terms:

And to the gye whom cannot , still get it to work....U got a firewall running? ( if so turn it of) and if it's a crack you got I WILL not help, go buy the org. cd! ( I think 3do could use the money at this point
AND if NONE of the above is 'true' i.e Firewall/Crack.......hmmmm then I have some other suggestions BUT as I have helped MANY players in my humble time of online homm3 gammin, I DO know that this is the way you can get the game 'up and running'

But....
I can play on the zone without doing this, so what is the point ? I've played about 7 games over the net some as host , some as guest and all I've ever done is, after launching just select the map and begin . So again I ask WHY ???

If you don't have a problem
Then you dont need to do all this, but for some, whose game loads like single player everytime from the zone, this fixes it....Just be glad you didnt have problems and happy if u did or do have problems that UT was nice enuf to write all this up

In reponse to a question.. yes I run a firewall but have the ports HOMM3 needs open to run.. Hell it works fine for normal TCP/IP games. I have followed all the steps listed above and it still does not work? Any other thoughts?
