Heroes III complete installaton problem
Hello everyone,
I'm sure some of you already heard of my problem, but I can't solve it...
Heroes III complete won't install!!! I have 2 nrg images, and when I mount the first image (installation disc) nothing happens! I have even tried to run setup.exe from the image, but again nothing happens.
However, on the other computer with Windows Vista, autorun works smoothly!
Please, help.

I got H3 to work on my machine but I can't run it in Winduws version. Something about 65536 color mode. Need to change the desktop. I an running Salamdres 1.09 patch with Wog. Is his patch a 64 bit patch perhaps?

Heroes III installed and worked perfectly on my previous configuration, WIN XP sp2.
And what is all that about color mode/desktop or something, 64 or 32 bit, does that help my installation problem?
I repeat, autorun doesn't work and setup wont run.
Please help, give me instructions.

Just install from C:
Copy over the files to the desktop or smth (mine were "setup_" folder. And run it from there.
Some old games like (AWESOME GAME>>> M.A.X.2. wouldn't install at all onto newer than win2000 machines. You could just copy the files onto the hdd and it'd work (or work from cd, but couldn't save).
Try it.
Autorun sucks btw.

Ok, I copied the CD1 into the _setup folder on desktop, and when I started setup a window appeared! But just when I yelled WHOA, I clicked the install button but again nothing happened. Furthermore, I clicked "Play", nothing hapened.
If I understood you well, you also suggested that I copy the game installation files to the hdd and just run Heroes? If that is the case, I must find an installation first...
Thnx for the advice

one way it might work
1. take out the internet modem so you have no internet
2. turn your computer off
3. start it up in safe mode
4. try there
5 if that works turn off your computer and go back to normal mode
just if you have any expansions of the game they might not work or if you have the genine disk on you send some of the files to develepors so they can send you a working disk or game or whatever

Have had similar problems. Safe mode ia the only way I can re-install Heroes 3 complete. A good pick-up Phil 447!!

Wow, this thread actually isn't totally dead...
I'm trying to install from the Heroes3 complete disc, it's a burn of the original (bought) version that my friend gave me. Originally I had everything except SOD, but the complete CD wasn't letting me install it, so I just went ahead and uninstalled all H3 files. But now, when I try the autorun, I still get only the "play" button instead of the "install" button. Can't seem to find an .exe on the disc to install directly. Tried copying the whole CD to program files, but didn't work either. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help!

First right click anywhere on your desktop that does not have an icon.
(FYI this is my computer your may be slightly different)
Then go to your monitors Control Panel mine says NVIDIA Control Panel, and you should see something like my control panel (image below)
Click Change resolution under Display, and then in Color quality and change your monitor to 16-bit color, and don't change your monitor's Hertz.
Remember to change your monitor back to the higher setting to play online games again and any new computer games you have.
