@cepheids:
Personally, I acknowledge the time and effort you've put in this calculations.You strike me as one of those guys that enjoy the math side of heroes...lately there has been a lot of work done in this field and there are a few brilliant mathematicians on this forum...i am sure that if you would check some of Dimis's posts namely the one regarding heroes skill leveling and also his thread in the tavern about math quizzes you would get at least a good read if not an incentive to do some quality work yourself.
As far as the current topic is concerned, the mathematic algorithm is correct but it has no relevance in a real Heroes 3 game, it serves as a good brain exercise but imo, that's all that is to it.
I'd like to encourage you to carry on your work, but focus on some aspects that might eventually benefit the community, rather than abstract tasks with no goal.
just my 2 cents, no flame or toss intended

How about try to find some system in the battle-terrain on a map grid with particular coordinates? Like for example, every grass tile that is the top-left tile on the adventure map always have the same obsticles in the battle screen on all maps. And if its lava it has other obstacles, but they are always the same. So maybe you can find some cool pattern it there, which would result in a program you could call "battle-terrain-hack", which would be banned
I once made a bot that took screenshots of battles, to find some kind of system. It took screens of battles on grass terrain for about 30-40 top-left tiles. Like (1;1), (1;2), (2;1) etc. But I couldnt figure out any system. Maybe you can?
Of course it could be just totally random. In which case you could try to find a way how to predict the obsticles on lava, snow and swamp in case you know the obsticles on grass.

Cepheids, how exactly did you calculate this? Do you have a method for calculating it or do you just get notepad and calculator and do it manually?
