No, scan is exclusive of Terran army.
But, being an eSport game very focused on balance, it's quite obvious to expect that all races have different ways of detection. I'll list for you now:
Terran:
-Scan (spell from Orbital Command)
-Missile Turret (static defense)
-Raven (Air unit produced at the startport)
Zerg:
-Spore crawler (static defense)
-Oveseer (Air unit, morphed from normal overlords)
Protoss:
-Photon cannon (static defense)
-Observer (Cloaked air unit, build from the Robotics facility)
That are all basic detection - but there still a few more which are a bit special:
- Fungal Growth (spell of the Infestor, if it hits a cloaked unit, it's revealead for a few secs)
- EMP (spell from Ghost unit, if it hits a cloaked unit, it's revealead for a few secs)
And all Area of Effect attacks damage cloaked units if hitted by them. For instance, if you storm an area where 2 cloaked ghost are waiting, they'll be hurt by it.
Lastly, the sensor tower (Terran building) marks any unit in it's range - not matter if visibile or invisible, but it doesn't reveal them (so you know where they are, but you can't attack unless some kind of detection is provided).
And I think that are all of them. Hope it helps

In HotS they added another form of detection to toss, but with all the changes throught the beta I'm not sure where is exacly now - if it's a spell of the mothership core of the Oracles (stargate). I believe the second...

Except you could tell the zerg were going to lose from quite early on. Too much unused resources.

The zerg was preparing for a long game and was caught off guard by an excellent timing from the Terran. Still, a close game and very fun to watch ^^

Yup but my point was that they played badly to begin with. They had a lot of minerals just sitting there doing nothing when they could have made defenses or improved the economy. They also hit their supply cap a few times.
Terran would have been able to finish the game a lot earlier if they had just concentrated on killing the workers and not run after the soldiers when their first real timed push overpowered the defenders.
Streaming the units into zerg base and continuing to attack the defenders was foolish. They handed the initiative over to the zerg at that point. Who still managed to lose even after gaining the initiative. Simply bad play by both.
Worker defense rushes were entertaining though.

Trying to get back into the game after a short break, and I'm so bloody dumb. TvP I scout his base out and see the usual barracks & supply, but I expected some marauders too. All he did is spam marines, no marauders, nothing else. Easiest game to win, but I **** up because I keep forgetting that I have high templars in my arsenal. TT

Hahahahaha, that massive mid-map build-up.
The red just foiling every breakthrough attempt by the blue, the map control is far too good from the red, and everytime the blue failed to gain some kind of advantage the red the red just tightened the noose on him. Great fun to watch.

Loved the movement just out of sight of the other players stationaries. Really good use of fog in general by the blue guy. Too bad he lacked the expertise to capitalise on it. He had good skills but his strategic thinking wasn't up to bar.
That looks exactly the same as all good level C&C 3 matches. Except C&C 3 doesn't have a pop cap so economy is a lot more important. Here both of their economies were quite poor at times. I saw a few times either of them could have won by just challenging the other one hard enough.
You can see in the end that the blue guy/dream was overburdened since he had a lot of unused resources. The red guy was simply better on managing multiple fronts in the endgame war. There were a few times when the red was spread out too thin and the blue should have been able to take him out but he didn't take those chances.
Naturally red's choice to go for nukes was the thing that provided him the extra to push blue over his limit. He wasn't also so badly stuck on his tank/marine/medivac combo as the blue was. This won him the game even though he made few major mistakes in attacking which cost him most of his active army and made for good chances for the blue to push through.
Note that even though the red guy was able to re-establish his army in second, it takes him a lot of time to walk them to the front line and in that time blue could have taken out the rest of his army. This would have allowed complete map control for around 30 secs to a minute, enough to secure a win.
PS. I really think the pop cap hurt this game. With full armies they just couldn't convert from tank/marine/medivac to other strategies that well. Mostly because of the tank walls sucking up huge amounts of supply, they didn't have enough supply left to counter the medivacs with a sufficient amount of AA.

Urgh, need to slap myself out of the 'campers = noobs/dishonourable' player' which I adopted through years of ROTWK.
PvZ without sensible defenses is suicide, especially without 'bob's wall'.
Just don't know whether I should just buy HoTS before I start any serious online, so I don't practice strategies that won't work in HoTS.
Edit: Lately I've been watching more games, than played :3.
Today I continued my ****y loss streak, one time because I missclicked some hot-keys mid battle, which resulted in Stalkers trying to rub themselves against some roaches, while sentries fled and three high-templars suiciding without a single psionic storm. Urgh. (I wanted to wall half the roaches off and storm the living **** out of them, instead turns into a bloody mess where I'm totally annihilated)
I did win one game, but that was just due to my enemy's extremely low APM, he didn't scout at all, while I knew that he's just spamming muta-lisks after his zergling rush fail, so I built an army of stalkers with two colossi and attacked before he had a chance to consolidate anything, no spines nothing, I walked into his base and caused some mayhem then blinked under his mutalisks and gg. (there was about two dozen zerglings, though they surrounded my stalkers, the collosi just melted them)

No I didn't watch BW... What do you find as problems of SC2 from entertainment perspective? Is it that the skills aren't as good (yet) or other mechanics?

In BW you could easyly have 3-4 different places of action at the same time, were programers micro units on the three places "at the same time". Instead of the stupid deathballs we have in SC2, in BW battles were much more spread and longer, with more micro involved. It was much rare to have both maxed out in 200/200, because they were battling much more frecuent.
And BW units are way better designed than several from SC2 (like colossi).

Colossi are one of my favorite units, both visually and gameplay-wise. The only sucky part about them is that anti-air units can hit them. They're still awesome though.
