Everything in Starcraft comes down to the opponents you face in your way. It would be different if all played the same race so to speak, like in chess. Some amazing players can be kept in Code A for ages just because they face people they are worst against. There isn't a single player I know that doesn't have a weakness. For example Innovation - his TvT is clearly the only thing that keeps him from reaching Finals. Jaedong definately did deserve his place in the finals, when you look at the games he played. Getting 4-0 is bad for the game though, and I dislike it happening very much.

Not only the players, but also the matchups. Right now Jaedongs TvZ is his worst matchup - being ZvZ his best and ZvP a strong one. He just needs to focus on TvZ from now on.

Still, I think the widow mine AoE needs to be addressed, I dislike when they kill 20 banelings for one cheap shot...

Yeah for his earlier games.

But look at his final four. Compare to his semifinals or other earlier games. He just simply failed his timing each and every game in the finals. His aggression was always timed at 11-12 minutes. Bomber's is at 9-11. He didn't even try to adjust. No reason to have him in a final if he didn't even prepare alternative strategies.

Only game I agree is his last. But Bomber was next to him so it backfired.

Agreed. Widow mine is too cheap. Add one more supply to it's cost and it's balanced.

Having it use the same amount of supply as a Siege Tank?

It might work from balance perspective, but I am not sure a 75 mineral unit should take 3 supply. I would reduce the AoE damage and lower the cooldown as compensation.

It does way more damage than a siege tank though.

That could work too. It would certainly limit the game changing hits in the late game where one hit will blow out 20 banes or two hits 30 mutas. Though the latter could still be possible.

But I find that in the late game the problem is not so much the one lucky hit but rather the 30-40 mines that are out on the field so evading all of those hits is a way larger burden on the opponent than handling those mines is for you. It's simply an advantage in playtime as you can keep your opponent occupied with the gazillion mines leaving you time to macro and micro as you'd like against the banes/mutas or with drops. Just look at the recent late game battles in the tourney. Almost all of them ignore trying to evade the minehits, just scarlett focusing the mines down with mutas as they come but no longer does anyone try to bait the mines after the 14-15 minute mark. Simply too much micro.

Yes I agree that when there is like 20 mines, it becomes impossible to micro against them. The funny thing is that mines in that numbers are only used against Zerg - so increasing the supply might drop the mine usage from other match ups all together. But against Zerg the critical number of mines needs to be below 10, so one option is to increase the build time of mines. So if you clear the mines, you know you can breathe for a while. But this is very much theorizing, but which is fun indeed

It is quite effective versus early marine balls too but because tanks can safely disable them they're not useful later.

Same thing with protoss, too much long range units.

Zerg on the other hand don't have any long range units with hydras having the longest range. What is up with that anyway? Removing both lurkers and guardians and changing them to spawning units was a clear hit on their usefullness. How many games see the use of either? Not many indeed...

Well, instead of Lurkers there are Banelings (meaning with AoE damage for Zerg). And banelings are more fun to watch actually, but I loved playing with Lurkers way more haha.

Yes, and their "solution" to TvZ mid game Zerg problem is to buff ultralisk health by 50 points...so stupid

Just keep buffing them ultras, I don't mind...

but that weapons upgrade will eradicate the bio/protoss balance and will without doubt turn it even more to ghost/templar wars, meh.

That's the issue. Right now Zergs find problems on transitioning from Lair to hive tech, while the Terran keep sending bio mine 24/7.

And Ultras have their role on each matchup, they're not weak, there's no need for buffing them imo

btw, there are a lot of rumors about Acer about to sign STX Soul.INnoVation (as well as the disband of STX Soul team), and some growing drama as well.
