You meant PREview I think.. REviews are often mistakenly used interchangeably for preview. Reviews happen after the game is released.
About the preview.. at least we know the music is great, so everyone can cast their fears aside. The HOMM3 music has been replaced with better muisc (the opera is back!).

Did anyone who used the Sorceress castle in hmm2 stay long enough to hear the music. I mean come on if you are not out by 5 seconds an opera singer comes on. It demotes the game greatly.

check out your settings - each HOMM2 song is recorded in two versions with and without OPERA. There is an option for turning opera off.

I actually liked the opera, thought it was great -- especially Sorceress in Price of Loyalty.
As for turning it off in H2, they DIDN'T record a non opera version for each of the castles.. When you turn it off, it simply doesn't play the town music but keeps the music on whatever terrain music was playing. The music tracks were redbook format (an audio CD) so the voices were tied to the track and the song could not be played without the voice. There was not enough room on the CD to record a version of every song without the vocals either (music tracks are huge ya know..).

opera and HoMM music...
when I first played HoMM2 I was a bit too young to appreciate the opera vocals... as the years went by, I grew addicted to it... I really miss it in HoMM3...
btw I'm glad HoMM was one of the first games to use mp3... (hopefully they will use ogg/vorbis soon)

Jenova are u sure? I could turn off my opera (HOMMII) and the terrain music does not play. The same song plays, only softer, and WITHOUT the opera vocals. I liked the opera BTW, especially the ones played in the Sorceress and the Knight towns.
Side Note: Maybe it's just my copy, but I noticed the Wizard castle didn't have an opera...

you're right the wizard town did not have opera. Any keen heroes fan will notice that homm2's wizard theme is the same song as homm3's conflux town.

It could be that you had it on midi..
Or I could be remembering wrong about the terrain music, it probably plays the midi version of the town music when you switch it off. Either way, the quality of the town music is nowhere near as good as the opera version.

Well probably you have one of the first versions, my one was coming together with heroes3 - it's was the COMPENDUM edition. (Heroes1,2,3 together). I've bought it since i came in USA. In Bulgaria i used to play it illegaly - nobody was selling it legally though there.
And I've first heard the CD soundtrack after i bought the game, before that - I was only on midi's
But one bad thing is that CD music slows you donw on certain CD-ROMS - because seeking and chahning the music seems to be lagging and slowing down (for about .25 sec -> 0.5sec) - and I've get used to fast chahning midi music.... Bud indeed I've listened many times to the CD alone in my cd-player.

I am glad the wizard in heroes 2 was not an opera because that was my favourite and most used castle. But InfernoGuy i do not think that the music is similar to that of heroes 3 conflux.
I don't think that necromancer castle in heroes 2 had an opera either. I like necromancer as well so i got lucky. I guess if you really like opera it could be enjoyable but there are 3 stereo settings. One is opera, one is no opera and the terrain music plays instead of castle music and one is a different version of song. But this version was bad for combat unless you liked the digital style stuff. That was probably the version Midler used.
By the way i am quoting opera as anything with corny singing at some point in the castle music. So that meant that wizard and necromancer had no singing at any point (thank god!).
