Because I've sank quite a few hours into Mafia III (I've probably crossed the middle point of the game), let me give an update if someones interested.
I find the game enjoyable, but am beginning to understand why some reviewers said that gameplay doesn't quite deliver. I mean the settings great, and the whole 'assets' thing is a really nifty idea. You really do use them, they're not only for show: calling a hit-squad to help you clear a mission, requesting a car wherever you are etc. Heck, I've even lured some troublesome enemies into one of my 'bases' and allied goons helped me kill them. The 'take over the city bit by bit' mechanic is also well thought.
But the problem is this is all repetetive. Practically every mission is about driving from point A to B, killing a bunch of guys (or a boss guy), clearing the stage, rinse and repeat (only the scale differs from killing a few guys to clearing a whole building). Other then that there are a few pick-up missions. Even the main missions are the same. It might actually be a more serious matter for some people but I'm suprisingly enjoying this and I'm not getting bored... we'll see how long it will last. So here's hoping that the DLC packs will throw something fresh into the mix...
Although the dialogs and characters are great, I'm yet to see a real 'omg moment' or at least some kind of change of pace (like the Heist missions in GTA V).
I've encountered maybe two crashes (but even GTA V had them). A few glitches here and there (missing action buttons, 'blind' enemies etc). The game could use some polishing but is not as serious as I've heard.
I wait with my final verdict until the end, but if you ask me I would give this game somewhere between 7+ and 8-.

It's fun but the constant grinding gets tedious after about 20 hours.

So I've completed Mafia III. Watching all alternative endings, I think that I choose the best options. Story didn't have that many great moments, but was solid overall, especially the dialogues (some characters were really distinct and perfectly played).
Now I'm going to give this game a solid 8/10 afterall. I think that it does not deserve the bad reception it got. It's hard to take the side of big companies, cause at the end of all it's about making money, but there is some truth in their saying that nowadays people seem to take some kind of a personal crusade to drag AAA titles through the mud (excluding Ubisoft, those are real scumbags and they deserve it ). 50% of the haters probably "played" the game by watching glitch compilations, and made some really constructive reviews like 'this game is s*it' afterwards. You know what? It's not. It's a solid, enjoyable and pretty unique (setting) title. And ain't nobody gonna change my opinion of it.
Don't take me wrong, this game is far from polished, and it should had something more to it gameplay wise, yet I've somehow completed it from A to Z (all collectibles included) without getting bored, even with it's repetetive structure. And that means something.

Finished the final boss fight in Ashes of Ariandel last night. It was pretty tough at three phases, the last one in particular reminded me of the Orphan of Kos (i.e. high health, quick high damage attacks, and hard to hit). Still, it was a satisfying conclusion to a DLC with, what, two bosses.
PS Also it is probably the best use of a npc size boss outside of Bloodborne.

Dota 2: feeding.
Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition: trying to finish the difficulty One Life and, on the run, accomplish 4 of the toughest Steam Achievements: Not dying, Finish the One Life Difficulty, Not using skill points, Finish under 3 hours.
Opensource Transport Tycoon Deluxe: because I'm that nostalgic. Just saw that yesterday they released a similar game called Transport Fever; suffering the 'too buggy' or 'too soon released' syndrome. So I'll wait further improvements. I only knew days ago that this game was re released to mobile platform with enhanced graphics (given it's original game is from 1994).
Final Fantasy Tactics Kind of: a mod for the PSX version of the game, with some improvements, balances and more challengeable. Another flux of nostalgia. Pondering on some mechanics which could improve in Heroes gaming here and there. FFT also was re released for PSP and mobile platform, giving a new surname War of the Lions, getting completely rewritten (the conversations, the English is now archaic and more polite), some bugs were fixed, some items included, two new jobs added and some other tweaks here and there.

The game is too long, imho, it stretches beyond the fun after a fashion, and you may end up wanting to finish it sooner. Maybe because the overall scenery (and gameplay) gets repetitive. But it is a fun ride, not too easy, not too hard.

That is all too true... and the difficulty changes depending on how well you do, so that's cool.

They might be the scariest thing in that game, I reckon, due the sound and the way they behave. The rest are things that are predictable ugly or so, nothing really unnerving – unless you hear suddenly and unexpectedly a villager state to you that he's behind you.

Playing some Diablo 1 for the first time since friggin fifth grade or something like that
It's honestly better than Diablo 3. Certainly harder and has a better story. I've got a rogue right now but I might switch to a warrior before I get too far into it.

Underrail. It has a strong Fallout-ish atmosphere and more than a few winks to its classical predecessor but it's certainly not a clone. So far it's reasonably tough and quite addicting.

So I picked up Steam World: Heist and it's pretty neat. I like the combination of the basic tactical combat with manual aiming. Also the visuals are pretty neat. Great change of pace between Nuclear Throne runs

I always ever played with the Rogue. She was balanced between might and magic (er), which made me feel less bored than playing with the warrior (just the incessant clicking, I mean). I remember when having that first lightning spell spreading bolts: going to the middle of a wide room and casting it in every direction, then just listening to the gold falling and winning XP out of the blue. ^_^
Not to mention the nostalgic Town song theme.

I stuck with the Rogue for the reasons you say I got all the way down to Lazarus but my god, there are swarms of those demons with him and I dont think I'm strong enough to take them. I haven't been using many spells so right now it just seems impossible with my bow.
So in the meantime....
I started my first real Hardcore character on diablo 2. Went easy mode summoning necromancer and on my first try I died at level 9 or something; my second try I'm still playing and just finished act 2 but im nervous i'll get killed by one of those fire breathing goblin things in Act 3

A bit late, but I just finished Witcher 3 with both it's main DLC's. And by finishing I mean almost completly 'cleaning it' through (collecting all Gwent cards quest is practically the only one left).
For those who still didn't play it: I urge you to buy the GOTY edition. Rarely do I play a game in which I sank so many hours into, and still want more. Proud of CD Projekt Red for creating such a game.
