I think Samus is the most overpowered char by far. Link can be tricky on some stages

@Adrius

Havel is a punk.  Get some gold pine resin, get rid of your armor, and back stab him.  Armor only slows you down and you are pretty much dead if he connects with his overhead smash, so dodging is the way to go.  It is also possible to cheese him using poison knives or dung pies if you enter through Darkroot Garden but that can be tricky; I've only pulled it off once.

Speaking of Dark Souls, I am playing through Dark Souls II.  I ended up deleting my original character (a Depraved because I'm a masochist) after I inadvertently turned him into a woman and never realized it.  I discovered the change when I stripped off my armor on a suicide run.  I could not handle an epic story playing as a woman named "Nicholas," so I deleted the character and restarted.  After I deleted the character, I discovered a way to switch genders, so that sucked.  Oh well; it wasn't a very good run.  I died about 70 times in 8 hours and was really punished by the 50% maximum death penalty and lack of starting gear.

My second character is a Knight and I am doing very well in the game now.  I was able to stay human up until the first boss when I miscalculated and got squished.  I am wearing heavy armor, using a mace, large club (there is just something incredibly satisfying about smashing someone's head into the ground with a tree branch), and a tower shield.  I have 4 rings equipped that give me increased stamina regeneration, health regeneration (very low health regeneration), increased damage, and one that limits my death penalty to 80% max health instead of 50% of max health.  I have a fireball attuned but my guy is so weak at magic it's more to pick off weak enemies.

One thing I have done differently that the original Dark Souls is buying more items.  Since enemies despawn after being killed 10 times, souls are harder to come by.  So when I get to the point where I cannot level up but have excess souls, I purchase throwing knives and life gems.  The life gems are invaluable and the throwing knives have helped me more times than I can recall.  I always try to have at least 10+ gems and 30+ knives on me.  This is game where you don't know what is lurking around the corner and you absolutely need to be prepared to deal with anything.  Plus buying up gear frees me from the worry of not being able to reclaim the souls when I die.

Well I walk up to his face and circle him but he has like a 50% chance of spinning around and homing in to my face, and dodging with the pc controls sometimes just sends me off in the wrong direction.

Have had more success with parrying him than backstabbing. God I was one strike away when the controls ****ed me over yesterday.

In the long run, Havel is not that bad.  Have you made it to Anor Londo yet?  That's when the real fun begins.

I've picked up HearthStone Heroes of Warcraft recently, and I must say it's quite fun to play.

I've played a couple of "virtual" card games already like MtG, M&M Duels of Champions or Etherlords, and the thing that distinguishes HS from the rest is it's pace. It's probably the most "archaic" one (in terms of mechanics that is, except from Taunt, there is no actual blocking, and there aren't that many "enchantment" or "artifact" type permanents, which linger through the whole duel unless destroyed), but it's the fastest one. A duel plays like 10 minutes at most whereas in MtG it's usually 30+ min.

Apart from that it has this nice Blizzard-ish art style, which I do like actually. And I know it's not practical in a strategic game like this, but I would like to see a "virtual card game" (either MtG or from Blizzard) which has some nice monster animations. Etherlords was the closest to sth like that...

Apart from that I'm playing Civilization V Complete, and with all those "old-new" expansion pack mechanics and civs (43 of them!) it was definitely worth the waiting. It's a bit pricy (though it's worth mentioning that BNW expansion is still quite new), but for someone like me, who waited for a "Complete Edition" it's a ton of content and many hours of play...

Yeah, in DotP or MTGO, I guess - it's really hard to adapt the MtG rules to a digital medium and avoid wasting time on lots of minor stuff. Playing actual paper Magic, it does vary from deck to deck, but I usually finish a full tournament best-of-three in twenty.

That said, I do love the way Hearthstone embraces the digital with numerous effects that are impractical or downright impossible in a tabletop game.

It's funny to notice how much the character sprite affects my playstyle.
If I try to play Luigi with princess peach sprite I immeaditely find myself dying all the time because I try to float like I'm used to doing in SMB 2.

Same thing with Samus, trying to play Super Metroid sprite gets me killed all the time because the controls are from the first metroid and I seem hardcoded to playing super metroid samus with the sprite.

Perhaps I really have way too much hours on nintendo games ^^

As for myself, it happens a LOT of times with megaman. I dash and my mind inmediatly thinks it's Mega Man X, so when I press the jump button I actually fall from the cliff xD (instead of long jumping)

Yeah, because of this, play original sprites

BTW. Sophia level 3 wall scaling, awesome in dungeons and castles. Shoot at me bowser? Nah, ah, I'm spideying all over you^^

Takes some maneuvering to get to the wall above bowser sometimes though.

I don't really like her that much though. So slow without any powerups and too wide, so much suffering with enemies sometimes.

I bought recently some old turn based games cause I lost track of many  the last time I moved.

So I've been playing alternatly H3 (of course), Disciples 3 and Etherlords.

And I've been looking for references to Etherlords here in HC but the fact is I don't find so many.
This looks strange to me, since is my second favorite turn based game and second absolute favorite cause both my absolute favorites are turn based (H3 and Etherlods 1) and I find them with a very close playability.

Is there anyone here who still plays this game?
What is your impression about it?
Do u know any thing about user made maps or a map editor?
This is something we are so used in the Heroes series that we don't give the apropriate value. Until you think: I believe I could do a better map then this one (in a another game) but I don't have an editor...

What? I agree for everything but one: battles!
And as I play mostly for the battles is my second favorite imediatly after Heroes III, wich is good in many other things.

Have u played Etherlords above hard? At Expert and Impossible levels I find it quite challenging.

On the other hand: what would be then the best bet for me to spend some time on?

On the contrary, my experience with Sofia has been very satisfying. The hover ability saves you a ton of times, and her attack is powerful imo.

I'd put her on the Top 3 with Samus and Link

Apparently it's because instead of including all the different language audio as optional downloads they just chugged all 10 of them in, all at 3 GB each.

So it's around 30 GB of extra audio that I'll never hear cuz I'll be playing with english audio :/
