Can we reach a consensus to replace new def of WOG creatures
I have to say some of DEF of new creatures in original WOG are created in a rough way, which is a reason why some SOD playeres dislike WOG.
Since there are so many new DEF disappeared recently. Why don't we choose some from those to replace the new creatures such as level 8 creatures.
We'd better reach a consensus on which DEFs are to be used.
Do you thins it is workabel?

There is no consensus possible because tastes differ. Many modders will prefer hand made/recolored creatures (which for most are far from looking professional), while others will prefer creatures from other games which are perfectly designed but not original, self-rewarding and also in 90% cases do not fit if mixed with original ones.
But there is no need to take such general decisions. Everyone can replace whatever he wants with the graphics he likes. I never found that 8th level creatures look bad, I like them. Those which I dislike 100% are the 4 gods, very poorly and fast done. They could be replaced indeed.

I'd be interested in such a patch. True, not everyone will be happy with the end result, but they don't have to install it, do they?
Perhaps include new object defs too? Maybe even some scripts? Just a thought.

Tastes vary. Myself, I like replacing the original lineup with newer looking creatures for now, until something is set up where everything can eventually be put in without doing this. If I want to change the effect of what they do, I could always get it scripted for them to do what I want.
A patch to change all theses features I've mentioned would also be a good idea. For now, I just swap out folders and sprite and bitmap lods for each set I play. This is all I can do until, like I mentioned, something comes out that eliminates me fromm having to do it the hard way.

You have to feed a game to have it played. Modding is fun, but without maps or campaigns using the new graphics/scripts, it is a waste of time.
Unfortunately the people being able to mod, script and make the map to suit it are very rare or already gone elsewhere. So we have a bunch of additions but not the possibility to play them in an harmonious context which gives them the light they need.
New towns are interesting to have, but they mobilize the best artists for years while the players are mass deserting, so in the end nobody plays them.

Yes, as soon as something new comes out, many of the old hands leave. But for every end, there is a new beginning. It seems that for every person that leaves the game, a new one comes in to replace them. I've seen it over time, and I'm sure I'll continue seeing it. This never discourages me. A new group coming in wants to be entertained and it's like starting over, only with newer material.
And some leave and come back. I'm living proof of that.
My one hopr is to see the game continually evolve, and over the last fifteen years of it, I have not been disappointed.

so......do you like the pink skeleton dragon, which they say it's a blood one?
Personally I don't like to change original ones, they're classic, but WOg ones are very good for testing.

I like him. But now I run some tests where I need immobile opponents and I choose those gods, damnt, how ugly they are. And no get hit or defend animation, nothing, they just stay there.

With downside as well. They take a slot and need defended. If they die, you lose all bonus you got, and instantly. And I never saw any map where you can keep them alive till the end (not speaking about crappy easy maps naturally).

Like mine! Seriously though, I agree those four could be the first defs to replace.

I would love a patch to replace the level 8 units with something more unique taken from the stuff Maestro and others have made. I've never been a big fan of the recolours.

Random defs borrowed when lurking in different threads will not fit. For such task, one has to search for right models and do the specific animations.

Perhaps the four gods' representatives could fit their designations better, i.e. actually represent war, peace, lore and mana?
Sal is right, although I love that angel. Can't see much of the rest in those screens, but don't think a fallen angel would fit Inferno. No consensus!

Surely, everybody has his perference, it is hard to reach a consensus.
But the original DEFs are not the best.
Besides the 4 gods, I think the level 8 creatures should be replaced too, though they are beautiful, but they are just changed color from the level 7 creatures. When we cast clone magic to them, we can't distinguish which belongs to level 8 creature, and which belongs to level 7 creatures.
