HC's little food corner

So yeah, I was in real need for a good healthy and rich meal today when finally getting back home at 22.06 and decided to make myself a good meal! Now, I pretty much never ever use recipes. I consider that cheating for some reason.

Today I got the urge to try something new, which might not be new for the rest of you but I still wanna share it.

I got some corned beef, some beef, pasta, onion, garlic, chili and something that sounds as difficult as capsicum annuum. Which is simply called paprika in norwegian much easier!

I fried everything together, dicing the beef, and then put everything in a casserole. I then whipped together some kind of sauce-thingy using different kinds of oils and tomato purée alongside some spices. Chili, pepper, lemon and basil.

I let everything stay on for a half hour on medium heat, so that the vegetables got good and soft and had a perfect consistence.

And voila! Finished! (tastes great!)

I love good food, and I love to cook. I like healthy and fresh food, simple as that. And I noticed this place lacked a food-thread! Which is a shame.

So yeah, don't know if anyone else wish to mention their food-experiences, recipes, good dinners or anything. Just felt like meking a thread about it! Bon appetit

It's healthy as hell ... man, that's just beef, halfbrown pasta and vegetables. I am never that healthy, just thought I'd be good yesterday

Yes, but its fried. 30 years and you will say: "Oh, why I have problems with heart, blood pressure is jumping every day, it's not far from heart attack, I shouldn't eat that greasy meal, when I was young and healthy..."
But nevermind, this is just another wrong theory... I just don't like pasta .
At least this is not McDonalds.

it's a simple way to escape that. Don't use half of the cooking oil bottle. Saves up money too.

I enjoy cooking as well. though nowadays it's just taking anything and everything edible from a fridge, putting it into a frying pan, setting a timer and adding spices to it. and that's Student's Dinner for ya.

Looks tasty.

From the sounds of the ingredients, I'd say try putting a light covering of pepper-jack cheese on it (don't add lemon) and bake it instead of fry it (you'd want to mostly pre-cook the beef of course), and you got a date.

p.s.- beef and corned beef together seems kinda odd. I'd just do the beef.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that next time

Oh, and beer is good! Especially since I am not used to spicy food, and needed something to help take the edge off

I cook sometimes, I used to cook a lot more. My favorite is Killer Shrimp:
2 tbl rosemary
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp celery seed
1/2 tsp fennel seed
1 cup white wine
2 quartschicken broth
8 oz clam juice
3 oz tomato paste
1/2 lb butter
2 lbs shrimp or prawns, tails on

Except I use 8 tbl of rosemary and 2lb of butter (and extra garlic and red pepper too)
I loves Rosemary.

Today I ate pizza.
In Sweden, there is a great website which is like a network of hundreds of pizzerias. There you can choose a pizza and then you can edit the pizza and add or remove ingredients.
We choose Pizza with Shrimps, Chicken, Curry spice, Sallad, Tomato, Pepper/Paprika, Cucumber and additional Curry sauce in a jar. Also pizza sallad, coca cola. Funny thing is we got an additional free 1.5l fanta. Wtf.

Anyway it was delicious and I have saved some for breakfast (microwaved pizza for breakfast is AWESOME).
