A data editor inside the map editor where we can modify creature stats, change model/skin files, edit towns and even create new raw content from scratch.
Like the Warcraft III or Starcraft II editors.
I VEHEMENTLY agree with this lol. Being able to change creature skins & stats (as well as their growth rate in the castle) seems like something simple they could add into the H6 editor, but it would allow us to create all sorts of awesome scenarios. Here is just one example: Double the Damage of a black dragon, but paint it gold, change the name, and reduce the growth rate in half.
MrDragon talked a tad above my clear understanding, your ex. cleared it up. That indeed would be an awesome aspect. Just thought I would make it as triple-endorsement.

Markkur,
In response to your question located in the other "news" thread, I think I know what you are talking about.
Creating custom objects in a map, at least from what I've seen, can be very tricky. If you were to copy & Paste a custom object from another map into your map folder, it won't show up when you try to find it in map editor. The easiest way is to go into the map editor and copy the object file into your map folder, then modify it from there. Once you close the map editor it won't referece that object anymore, unless you click on the object, altar it, save it, and then go back in. Even if English was your primary language I don't think I could adequately explain it lol.
There are probably people here that are better at the technical side of the map making than me, but I have found a few shortcuts that are helpful. With Homm6 so close, if I were you I'd just try to make a regular map... it's not worth learning all of the little weird things about the homm5 map editor lol... it can be frustrating.

Terfinz wellamist nearuth eyebaltorgen.
Translated to English "Tears are welling up in my eyes".
My hope when I first arrived at HC was to link up with at least one other mapper and to learn, do the teamwork thing etc. your point about H6 coming along I think explains why I might not reach my goal.
I've heard that H6 will be stand-alone, so that leads me to think that H5 and theMapEditor will yet have a long life, just a long pause. Looking at H3 is a good precedent.
Make a great day/map, your new/old mappal Markkur

Yeah I know I'm making a second reply in a row but I dont want to take that other thread off topic, even if it is related.
@ Zenofex and Sherekhaan
Both of you brought up a good point about searching through a lot of maps in trying to find a good one. Since it seems folks will not always rate maps at the map-sites that have the option, what is the solution?
It would be nice to find an idea to use for H6,
