What is Karthal?
From what I understand the nagas live in the Jade Ocean (or sea as of recently), and the Free Cities are in the Mountains around Stonehelm (it being one of them) + 8 already known factions =10 factions as they were stated to be the number in the Ashan Universe.
So what remains from the Ashan map is a golden pyramid which is where the skull of shadows is used in DM, some orc tents in the desert to the Southwest and the city\castle of Karthal.
Simple question: What is it?

Well up until they said otherwise I sort of assumed it 'was' the Naga capital. BTW, you have any idea who lives in that silvery city east of Talonguard?

Yeah, it it has been speculated to be one of the possible locations for the Naga race though we do not know anything about the place for sure. Karthal sounds very much like Karthago.

MatII - No, but that building is within the borders of the Griffin Empire so the race there can only be humans.

How can it be anything but Naga? It's a marine city, and unless it's some kind of Atlantis, I cannot see how it could be otherwise.

It's not actually in the Jade Ocean (south) but near the Irisus Sea(West). To be honest for this matter I'm not really sure how can it be related to Nagas that we know that live in the islands of Jade Ocean.

we have no idea where the naga live, but the most common place people put them is on the islands of the jade ocean since in the old alpha map, those islands have very asian sounding names

Quote: we have no idea where the naga live
We do have an idea: in the info regarding Sveltana and the campaign we have the following "She traveled with her master to the Naga islands of the Jade Sea in order to free the Mother Namtaru, a powerful aspect of the Spider Goddess".
However, I agree with you that somehow some races might be scattered in Ashan. The orcs also seem pretty scattered, not to speak about the humans which should be found both in Haven and the Free Cities.

Well, I always thought it looked like there were these enchanted plains of water there which would certainly suit the Naga. Perhaps it is a Naga outpost/enclave. It also looks like there is a lighthouse but the architecture does not strike me as extremly Asian. It looks more arabian to me or even piraty.

Cepheus - It looks turkish, like a harbour, so I always thought nagas would be there until the anouncement with the nagas being in the Jade Ocean on some islands there.

Can't place it, it looks a little like a ziggurat, but not precisely. Oh, and if that's Turkish then Naga are very unlikely since most of their concept art looks Chinese.

Maybe the flags? The design? Or the terrain which it's on? Maybe a swamp type faction?

I'm seeing a lot of arches, which make me think of Roman architecture.
But that doesn't bring to mind any specific faction. Unless one of the unrevealed factions is slated to have a Romanesque feel to it?

Yeah it's really hard to tell. Not to mention that these days I discovered the Dark Messiah map in H5 and played it. Apparently you visit the islands of the Jade Ocean and of course there is no sign of Nagas over there. I think they messed things badly.
Does anyone know if this Dark Messiah map is official or made by fans? For those that played Dark Messiah (not the map but the game), since it seems that the story touches the islands of the Jade Ocean, were Nagas present in that game?
