I feel oddly obliged to enter, and I've got a sense of extreme grit on this one... Note that should be made is that in order to create a slight balance in favor of stronger units over hordes of weaker ones, all Core units will have at least 1 negative Special, at least before their upgrade.

Emphasis within the units is on Morale.

The Order
A town based solely on Knights' Orders.

Core
Core units comprised of those who serve, and have no claim to title, land or wealth. Soldiers and fortune-seekers alike, willing to live off the resources of their lords, in exchange for their lives in battle.

Page > Squire: Young men selected to become knights. They are still inexperienced, and uncomfortable on the field of battle. Their training has been formal, and they are not ready for enormous battles. They are enthusiastic, however, and will serve their lords with vigor.
Its upgrade, the Squire, has learned to carry himself in battle, and is no longer frightened if the battle shifts in the enemy's favor.
Specials - Page
Cower: The unit loses one point of Attack and Defense when a friendly stack is brought down to at least 50%
Glory: Morale is increased by an extra +1, if the controlling Hero posesses the Leadership Ability.
Specials - Squire
Glory: Morale is increased by an extra +1, if the controlling Hero possesses the Leadership Ability.
Tactician: Understanding of battle allows the Squire to brace for combat. Defense is increased by +1 for every 3 tiles an enemy stack travels to attack.

Bowman > Longbowman: Peasant, in times of battle, are armed with bows to support the front line. Possessing no actual combat skills, but performing heavy duty work on the fields, peasants are certainly strong enough to wield bows. Not always as accurate as trained archers, but their numbers make up for their inexperience.
Its upgrade, the Longbowman, is able to retain accuracy at longer ranges, and in a large group, is able to spread damage over multiple stacks of enemies.
Specials - Bowman
Shooter: Unit can attack enemies up to 12 tiles from its location. Damage is halved after 6 tiles.
Untrained: Every individual unit within the stack has a 5-10% chance to miss the intended target. Random selection may allow the unit to hit an adjacent enemy.
Specials - Longbowman
Long Shot: Unit can attack enemies up to 18 tiles from its location. Damage is halved after 12 tiles.
Volley: Unit's stack can evenly divide damage over multiple stacks. Number of stacks is determined by the number of units in the friendly stack. (+1 per (40*2.5)[IE, 1st = 40, 2nd = 100, 3rd = 250, etc.])

Knight-Errant > Bogatyr: The wanderers within the Empire, seeking towns in which aid is needed. Their strive for fame brings them into danger constantly, leading to their nature-tested combat skills. They do not possess knightly elegance, but their quick wit and instincts are far greater than any regular peasant's.
Its upgrade, the Bogatyr, has forsaken his desire for fame, and has adopted his new home, and will fight to the death to defend it.
Specials - Knight-Errant
Flight: There is no connection between the unit and its army; therefore, when the unit's stack is reduced to at least 15%, it will flee combat and return to a random town in your control.
Combat Wisdom: The unit has deep knowledge of battle and enemy types. Every attack, it has a 20% chance to hit an enemy's weak spot and deal 150% damage, as well as a 20% chance to avoid 25% damage on enemy retaliation.
Specials - Bogatyr
Combat Prowess: The unit has deep knowledge of battle and enemy types. Every attack, it has a 20% chance to hit an enemy's weak spot and deal 150% damage, as well as a 20% chance to avoid 25% damage on enemy retaliation. Chance is increased to 30% when defending a town under your control.
Safeguard: If no enemy stack occupies an adjacent space, this unit will travel within its movement range to intercept an enemy attack on a friendly Core unit stack.

Expert
Specialised and well-trained soldiers, who hold lines and inspire their lesser troops. They hold titles, and sometimes even land, within the kingdom, and their very presence on the battlefield is enough to instill fear in the enemy and raise the spirits of their allies.

Cavalier > Cataphract: Soldiers on horseback, these are the primary offensive units in the Order's army. They carry banners and spears, providing support in a defensive line as well as possessing an ability to inspire an assault on the enemy. Tough the most versatile Order units, they will fall with relative ease, when faced with enemy Expert and Champion stacks.
Its upgrade, the Cataphract, is a heavily armored cavalry unit, which sacrifices some of its excellent mobility to bolster its offensive capabilities.
Specials - Cavalier
Rally: Activated Ability. Increases Morale of all friendly Core stacks by +1 if Hero does not possess Leadership Ability, and +2 if Hero does. Duration equals (Hero level/2, rounded down) in turns.
Battle Shout: Activated Ability. Decreases Morale and Luck of all enemy Core stacks by -2. Duration equals (Hero level/3, rounded down) in turns.
Glory: Morale is increased by an extra +1, if the controlling Hero has the Leadership Ability.
Specials - Cataphract
Jousting: Damage dealt with each attack is increased by +5% per tile travelled.
Rally: Activated Ability. Increases Morale of all friendly Core and Expert stacks by +2 if Hero does not possess Leadership Ability, and +3 if Hero does. Duration equals (Hero level/2, rounded down) in turns.
Battle Shout: Activated Ability. Decreases Morale and Luck of all enemy stacks by -2. (Duration equals Hero level/2.5, rounded down) in turns.
Glory: Morale is increased by an extra +1, if the controlling Hero has the Leadership Ability.

Bishop > Cardinal: Heaven's representatives on the battlefield are the warrior Bishops. Clad in blessed robes and wielding weapons imbued with holy water, they provide a bedrock of blessing for their troops. Fairly weak in hand-to-hand combat, they excell behind the defensive lines, spurring on their troops, and driving back the enemy.
Specials - Bishop
Spellbook: Able to cast various low level Light Magic spells, randomized at the start of combat.
Blessed Arms: Weapons imbued with holy water guarantee at least 1 kill for attacks targetting Demons.
Lay Hands: This unit has the ability to completely mend the wounds of the top unit in any Core or Expert friendly stack.
Specials - Cardinal
Spellbook: Able to cast various low level, and one mid level, Light Magic spells, randomized at the start of combat.
Blessed Arms: Weapons imbued with holy water guarantee at least 1 kill for attacks targetting Demons or Undead units.
Lay Hands: This unit has the ability to completely mend the wounds of the top unit in any friendly stack.

Knight > Templar: Nobles on the battlefield, Knights inspire those that fight alongside them. They possess great skills in combat, yet thirst for more glory than merely knocking back the rabble. Their continuous search for fame and power pushes them ever forward on the field of battle.
Its upgrade, the Templar, fights with all the ferocity of its lesser form, and the added righteous might of their heavenly Lord.
Specials - Knight
Valor: This unit's presence in combat permanently increases all friendly Core stacks' Morale, Attack and Defense by +1.
Gloryhunter: This unit is obsessed with finding a worthy opponent. All attacks targetting Champions deal 30% more damage, and the unit receives 1 additional retaliation when attacked by Champion units.
Special - Templar
Valor: This unit's presence in combat permanently Increases all friendly Core and Expert stacks' Morale, Attack, and Defense by +1.
Gloryhunter: This unit is obsessed with finding a worthy opponent. All attacks targetting Champions deal 30% more damage, and the unit receives 1 additional retaliation when attacked by Champion units.
Holy Warrior: This unit is chosen by a higher power, increasing it's damage by 25% when targetting Demons and Undead units.

Champion
Knight Commander > Knight Grand Cross:
The greatest title to be bestowed upon a Knight is the Grand Cross, which is reserved for those who have provided extraordinary service for their kingdom. These are the elite within the Order, and they can turn the tide of battle by merely giving the right command. It is rarely necessary for them to even swing their swords, but when they do, it is never without grave consequence.
Specials - Knight Commander
Marching Orders: This unit can instruct any friendly stack to move to a different tile within its reach once per turn, despite having moved once before already. Using this prevents the use of Second Wind.
Second Wind: This unit can instruct any friendly stack to execute another attack (not counting abilities) once per turn, despite having attacked once before already. Using this prevents the use of Marching Orders.
Commander: This unit's Morale never drops below +3, after bonuses bring it to +3 or higher.
Specials - Knight Grand Cross
Marching Orders: This unit can instruct any friendly stack to move to a different tile within its reach once per turn, despite having moved already. Using this prevents the use of Second Wind and Decisive Strike this turn.
Second Wind: This unit can instruct any friendly stack to execute another attack (not counting abilities) once per turn, despite having attacked once before already. Using this prevents the use of Marching Orders and Decisive Strike this turn.
Commander: This unit's Morale never drops +3, after bonuses bring it to +3 or higher.
Decisive Strike: Activated Ability. This unit moves up to 1.5 times its maximum movement range to attack an enemy stack adjacent to a friendly stack. Damage dealt is never less than 75% of the maximum damage of the targetted enemy stack. Using this prevents the use of Marching Orders, Second Wind (and Decisive Strike x2) for a number of turns equal to the enemy's Tier (1/2 for Core, 2/4 for Expert, 3/6 for Champion).

I've always felt the Castle/Haven faction was the most grounded in reality, to draw players into the magical world of HoMM. This is why all HoMM games start with the Castle/Haven campaign. Really all I hanged was Griffins and Angels. I feel like they're not needed. Sure, it eliminates any form of flyers in the town, but if it wer up to me I'd remove flyers from the game altogether. I think it'd work nicely without them.

If it's boring, the player's doing it wrong.

@paiazza and Alci:

I fear I don't understand what you mean

So, deadline's gone now, so we can begin the judging.

Indeed, it's really easy. You shall give all proposals points between 0 and 20 (both included^^) and either post them here, or send them to me, if you wish to keep your vote anonymous^^
The proposal with the highest points wins and is the base for the rest of the competition. You can NOT evaluate your own proposals. Also, I beg you, especially if you participate, to give all proposals a score to prevent that proposals get not any points just because they are not scored by everyone...

A couple of years ago, there were two very big joint faction creation projects called "The Perfect Stronghold" and "The Perfect Temple". It could be fun to take some of the suggestions from this thread and then join forces in the same way once we know the H6 factions and make suggestions for expansion.

ok,

@ SkrentyzMienty
due to the brevity of the faction presented, I'm afriad I'm only able to give it a 5. there are some nice Ideas, like the war hound to break the human monotony, but lack of information otherwise knocks it down considerably.

@ MattII
I like some of the ideas of the poorer Haven, with a the peasant spearmen and watch dogs making up most of the core, but the Legionarie, that's ment to be the backbone, as an elite I'm not to sure of. However, I do like the idea of the Cataphracts firing at the enemy before charging. 13

@ admira
seems to be very similar to the current H6 line-up, which isn't bad, but the addition of the Holy swordian (???) as the champion makes me scratch my head a bit, especially when the description makes it seem like an Elite unit.  13

@ Nightterror
a very interesting adaptation of the current H6 set up, and one I think is a good addition to the formula. however, no real description to the creatures is where you fall down, as I couldn't really see the difference between the monk and the Archon units.
9

@ War-overlord
a very traditional and yet very interesting line up. the rules are where it really shines and allows each unit to show it's strengths.
17

@ vitorsly
the Line-up itself is ok, but nothing really striking about it. again lack of description takes you down a bit.
7

@ DarkLord
again, no description, just unit names. all I know about them is that apparently one should be male, one should hold a sword, and a charriot can have lions...
5

@ Alci
as expected, a good line-up with some very strong ablities. nice one, though that's to be expected.
17

@ Paiazza
I really like this line-up. It combines the nobility and glory of the Haven faction, with the darkness and brutality of medieval society. the abilities and the units are fantastic.
18

@ WitchHunter
A good line-up for a first attempt. well done
14

@ Zenofex
FANTASTIGASMIC! well developed background, well thought out abilities, very very good!
19

@ Jabanoss
a traditional, solid line up, feeling very nice and cohesive.
17

@ ElonAlice_Kim
wrong town, wrong place, wrong time, I shall shun you!
1

@ Invictus7
a very interesting line up, and it feels very dark and desperate, especially with the agent and assassin units.
17

@ LizardWarrior
I really like the Loyal ability, but I fear it might get overpowered. However, a good line-up and a really nice twist on the champion unit.
17

@ Vexon
I really got a sense of the fuedalness of the society you were trying to create, and it seemed very interesting, especially with the knight's commander as the champion over something more angelic. over all a good line-up

@bixie: mmm I don't quite understand, while holy swordman as champion and Vexon's Knight commander is actually similar but somehow the judgment is very different between interesting and scratching the head because it feels like elite?

mmm I guessed I need to work on the description better. Yes, it is very similar to the current line-up in exception of Holy Swordman and Archon. Basically, I worked more on the synergy on the line up. With Archons and Praetorians on the defense line and Priestess healing capability.

The Holy Swordman is actually made interesting and unique in their own way with the ability Radiant spirit that upon dead, they will summon Radiant which will return to the body after the combat, freely resurrect the Holy Swordian, making them half-human, half angelic warrior. But I guessed it is not as impressive as it is on my imagination at least not for everyone. Anyway, thank you for the fair score.

@All: I for now will postpone my score as I quite busy with my work and I haven't fully read all the entry.

Thanks. Yeah, I know the Legionnaire seems a bit high, but there was no way I was putting him on the same level as the spearman. IMO 4 levels is about the minimum there should have been not 3, and the Legionnaire would have been at level 2, as would the Healer (the other core units would shift down to level 1, while the other Elite units would shift up to level 3).

No problem, though I hope you return when it comes to the town itself? Also, amybe you could still vote that round?! as well as this, btw...

I will vote, maybe even today (but not before I have eaten something...I'm getting hungry)

Also I want to ask, here, how you would like a more free (than here), but still task-bound, faction competition? Like the finding harmony one from earlier days, but maybe not with the same set task...for thse who may remember, I thought of sth. like the Creative Faction Contest I once opened - I know it went down, but we had other competitions at the same time, back then, and also, I hoped that the upcoming of H6 might encourage to participate^^ If the interest is there, I'd open a thread in the Coliseum, so that not the place here is wasted, where many threads are active, when the coliseum seems rather inactive thease days.

This is obvious we only have 2 best from which to choose the final, so let's make it easier for people to choose, its only 1 from 2:

Paiazza or Zenofex

I'll give 20 to Paiazza and 19 to Zenofex.
I liked more @Paiazza the creatures itselves and abilities while @Zenofex the background of the creatures. One of these 2 is definitely the best. Of course it depends on each one's opinion but what are we wanting here, good new and improved creatures or good background stories. Anyway people vote, we need more votes we can't just judge this by few people, we need you all, at least vote from these 2.
