USA support Murabak - so he will stay.

Nah, USA advises American citizens to flee the country, and asks of Mubarak to quit. They know this case is lost, obviously. Now I bet, they just wanna make sure that another one of their lapdogs will get his place, and hope Egyptians won't notice...

The internet has been offline in Egypt for days now.

I hope the people are alright.

I hope that the new government doesn't turn to extremism, but I'd understand why. Thought it may not be the case.

In the case of Iran, a secular but democratically elected government was overthrown to install the Shah.

In the case of Egypt, the dictatorship has been there as long as can be remembered. At least they didn't have the dream of democratic freedom stolen from them.

though I heard he gave the power to the military, not to the people, so they are still screwed it seems. they may just put another dictator at the head of the country. they do all they are asked to do so they are sure to keep their position, those guys are just like puppets.

It's up to the people to decide ultimately, every Egyption I know is glad Mubarak is gone because under him all Egypt did was oppress people and stagnate its economy. (And accept military handouts).

A free Egypt is a good thing.

It's Libya's turn now. Although Gaddafi lives up to his name as an evil dictator, by killing his own people. I do hope though that Libyans won't back down and that will spread to even more countries. Mine too!

I can't even imagine Libya without him, hm.

Anyway Egypt, Libya, Tunis... they have no chance to solve their problem with democracy. Soon or later the strong hand is going to return. They don't even know what are they doing.

And finally - a truly real revolution, no some US experiment.

Certainly there is a long way to achieve their goal yet but at least they're not being idle. Wether they're out on their own or someone else is behind them, Gaddafi and leaders like him need to go. So whatever, this is a step towards the right direction. It's just that once he's gone, I hope the people are wise enough not to let another like him to take the power.

The protests in Libya won't achieve much anything.

Unless they figure out they need to kill Gaddafi to get any changes.

I think that's a rather simple resolution. I mean, as it stands right now, Gaddafi's killing them, so in return, there's one thing that must be done.

Not all but most, right? I mean, come on, that's how empires and powers in general throughout the ages make do. Why would you be any different?

Either they get everything or then they get nothing.

I doubt there is middle ground when playing with Gaddafi.
