me n my brothers grew up on Might n' magic 2 and 3 i do not dislike any heroes games ive never had anticipations for a heroes game, as a amtter of fact i thought it all ended on 3 ^^ silly me ddint buy heroes 4 till 2005-2006.
heroes 5 was a giant leap for meh since it completely abandons the story of the rest of the heroes it turned out to be a great game imo
a little cartoony parhaps but a great game despite what ppl think.
Heroes 6 is the first M&M game that i had to wait for lol just a wee bit to go now.
I suggest you invest in Bethesda & Bioware games.

Lol I've also grown up with heroes 2 and 3,and I think 5 is the 2nd best game out of them, the only one that beats it is 3(which is most likely just because I grew up with 3).
The biggest +point for 5 is in my opinion,is the story.
The story isn't that great, but far better than the story in the previous games which were never really interesting for me.
In my opinion 4 is the weakest game out of heroes 2-5,because they tried to reinvent the series, which just didn't work, but even 4 is in my opinion still a good game, just not as good as the others.

Wait, what?
I think it's the first time I've heard someone praise H5's storyline.

yes maybe it was because I was too young at that time or something else, but I just didn't even bothered to follow the story after a few missions of the campaign, because it was too boring....

meh didnt care about the old story at all either, but I was a 5 year old playing H3 and didnt even understand english back then so there you go
of course, in later years I have replayed the H3 campaign and honestly, I think the story is overrated. The whole campaign structure is just not that good and enjoyable in H3, as it is an old game.
If H3 had cut-scenes instead of essay long text boxes and a campaign structure were all missions werent the same, then I am sure that I would have enjoyed the story very much.
Something I really, really did enjoy about the old campaigns though were those cool super good looking mini-cinematics before each mission! I loved those in H3!

That's most likely the case.
I started with H2 and I don't like H3. At all.
But I didn't understand one thing - you're going to buy H6 or H3?
In either case - gogo or you'll never understand what all the fuzz is about.
^ +1.
I started with H1 and I passionately hate H3 for its atrocious units' and heroes graphics and animation. Yes, you heard it - H3 graphics is utter sh!t in comparison to H1 and H2.

Suggestion:
- Star Control II <-- best game ever played. If the there is a word to describe "Perfect Game" it would be Star Control II (Music, Story, Campaign, Multiplayer, Gameplay). At least for me anyway the game is pretty old, you might want to download the "fan-made" version that is compatible with newer Windows version.
- Heroes related: Heroes 3 (Best of the series IMHO), Might and Magic VI, Might and Magic VII, Might and Magic VIII
there you go.
