What do I see? Are there those out there who truly enjoyed my story? I was content to later finish it on my own, as it seemed too many would read and not vote. Twas a small request I had for what I was doing. I would be happy to keep it going, I just wish to know that people really WANT me to continue. It is not rewarding to create a story, and have nobody say anything about it, and know nothing about it. I was not doing this for money, just wanted to know that others enjoyed and appreciated it, and looked forward to more. Perhaps that seems like asking too much to some, but that is how I felt about it.
So with that said, I will offer up a poll.
Based on the response to that, I will resume posting the story here, or won't. Perhaps some will see it as seeking attention, or whatnot. Let them. Those who really enjoyed this work of mine will know I am asking to be made aware of their desire that I continue. Nothing less.
Edit: NEW UPDATE TO THE STORY!!! GET YOUR VOTES IN! (After you read it again. Story has been edited to flow better!) Enjoy! And VOTE!

STORY CONTINUATION from PAGE 1!!!
WARNING!!! READ FROM PAGE ONE FIRST! This is NOT the beginning of the story!
Choice A wins! Let's find out who this strange person is...
"His name is Lunker Sporell. I know of him because he is the reason I wanted to get into science. When I was a little girl, I saw vids of him working with other scientists. I always laughed when he confused them. I thought it was great how he could make science funny and interesting at the same time. I wanted to be just like him, though it seems I haven't really been able to do that. Maybe one day..." She trailed off, musing.
Ingrid snapped back to herself.
"But he should be dead! The radiation levels around Zotun were so high that it literally was stripping the metals and seals off of the pirates' own ships, and that was before it was as condensed as the radiation eventually got after it leveled out around the shield. The pirates lost half of their fleet at that time, and that is why they were nearly unheard of for 15 years. It was a bad situation for the planet, though..."
A sad look crossed her face.
"I remember thinking about Lunker, when I found out what the pirates had done, and when it occurred to me that I would never meet him, I cried for days. I felt like I had lost a friend. I just can't believe he is still alive!"
An aide came in to speak to Calith, who flipped off the panel while the aide was in the room. He presented the list to the aide, who promptly left in a rush.
Thomas gave her a puzzled look.
"If he should be dead...why isn't he?"
"I have no idea at all."
Jintor waved the other two over to the com panel that Lunker was on, and introduced them.
"Lunker, you should know Thomas, and this young lady is Ingrid. She happens to be a scientist from Rintok. It seems she has an interesting solution for the waste we have such a problem with. But we can discuss that more later. Firstly, we will need some things.
You remember that capsule you mentioned to me? The one that was fully radioactively resistant?"
"Oh, yeah, that one. You planning on sending them into one of the waste piles?" Lunker chuckled.
"I knew you had a wry sense of humor, Jintor, but that is a new low."
"No, no..." The envoy shook his head.
"They are not to be punished for anything. We need to transport a sizeable amount of waste."
"What for? It's not like you can use it for anything positive...you wouldn't be attempting anything like the pirates, now would you?"
The old scientist's eyes narrowed, clearly displeased at Calith.
"No. Ingrid here has a possibly viable solution to get rid of the waste. We simply need to be able to test it, and to do so need a way to transport it safely. Can you give us one of those devices?"
"Well, I could, but how do I know your people won't lose it to the pirates?"
"Have they found you yet?"
"No, but then you don't normally contact me via com. How do you know this communication isn't being picked up?"
"How right. We will meet. My apologies. Go to the coordinates for F. We will meet you there."
"When will I expect you?" came the terse reply.
"Give us about two hours. We will see you then."
"Fine. Just don't be gettin' followed. I don't like getting my hands messy with pirates."
"No problem."
The panel winked out.
"Well, now," Jintor asked them, " you need to check that you got all your supplies you needed for the trip. They will be outside my office. We need to be leaving immediately."

"Why so soon?" Ingrid asked nervously. "How is Lunker...alive?" Ingrid asked softly.

"How is Lunker...alive?" Ingrid asked softly.
"Ah...now that is a good question." Jintor chuckled. "I think I will let him tell you that."
Ingrid frowned, her disappointment plain. She and Thomas checked through the supplies, and confirmed that they had all the items needed to do her research. Jintor nodded, and sent a sentry to get a hand truck to get the items to the Streak. Then he led them to a side exit, and out to another vehicle, this one drab and gray. He got in and they followed his lead.
"We go to F," Jintor told the driver, and said nothing more.
After a short trip, the car stopped, and they got out. It sped off, and they were left out in the middle of nowhere. They were on the side of a barely used road, just grassy fields as far as the eye could see. Totally empty and abandoned.
Ingrid looked quizzically at Thomas and Jintor.
"Where are we?"
"We are at F! Or will be," Jintor said and grinned. Then he pulled a small box out of his pocket, and pushed one of the buttons on it. A section of the field started rising up, until what looked like a disembodied elevator stood in the middle of the field on one side of the road now stood there, dirt and grass growing on its top like a bizarre kind of hat.
The doors slid open, and Jintor led them in. It went below the ground, and when it opened again, they were in a small room, with a few chairs, a table, and a couch. A single lamp stood in the corner, like a sole occupant.
"He will be here shortly," Jintor informed them. "Have a seat."
Ingrid sat on the couch as Thomas took a chair, and Jintor sat himself next to the courier.
Just as they had been seated, the elevator closed, and whisked itself upward, having been summoned back to the surface.
"Ah, that would be him now."
A few minutes after it had left, it returned. The same face Ingrid had seen on the screen was now in front of her, in person. She was speechless.
Jintor spoke first.
"Welcome Lunker! It is a shame we get to see each other so infrequently!"
Lunker rolled his eyes. "Why is it you had me come here? You know them filthy pirates have eyes and ears everywhere!"
Jintor nodded, and invited Lunker to sit.
"I'll stand, thank you. Let's get to the point. Why am I here?"
Jintor explained everything, including the part about how Ingrid had inadvertently shared with her bosses about the discovery she had made.
"Well, missy, that was pretty short sighted 'o ya. Ya need to be more careful who you open your pretty little mouth ta."
Ingrid got red-faced at this, and hung her head.
Thomas was irritated by this short old man, criticizing Ingrid after having just met her. He kept his temper, though, and simply said, "Is that why Kotun told the pirates openly that they could not get anything through the shield? I would watch your tongue old man..."
At this Lunker laughed heartily, while the other three looked at him as if he had lost his mind.
"That is what you would like to think, Mr.-Self-Important person of the universe!"
"Did it ever occur to you...
