Polixa Metropolitan
Hey guys, I have an idea for an RP, based around some work experience done in a local police station. I thought it would be quite interesting to apply it to a fantasy setting. Critiques of the stuff I've put down are welcome.
Polixa Metropolitan
Quote: To members of the force.
Our 100th year as established protectors of law and order amongst the city of Polixa is almost upon us. Hooray! Whilst I trust that many stations will be celebrating this day with me, I must stress that this year has been our toughest on record. Our esteemed mayor, Caitlyn Mcfinnigan, has been forced to cut back, yet again, on our institution, and with our friend at the Daily post, the right honourable Roger Blacklove, has been helping us to avoid scandal, many people have started to take the law into their own hands.
We must stand as an example to the people in Polixa, to show that there is law in our wonderful city. Our job is not a pretty one, but we signed up to keep the streets safe and to help everyone live their lives in peace, to bring order to ol' pol town. So far, we have triumphed, but there are still threats to the law out there, with the Cupid Killer, the Smilers, the Feylong gang, and Porcelian angels, to name a few, unfortunately.
my sincerest best wishes
Commissioner Idris Jackson, Head of the Polixa metropolitan police.
Background
Polixa is the biggest city within the world of Arotha, a centre for trade and commerce, capital of one of the largest nations, a religious centre for all manner of creeds, a melting pot of culture and ideas, and possibly one of the most diverse cities in the world. However, it’s not always pleasant. Crime is rampant, overcrowding is unbearable, and culture clashes happen almost three times a week. Fortunately, there is the Polixa Metropolitan Police, whose job is to enforce the rule of law in the city. You are one of said policemen, either as a beat officer, or a detective, helping to make the city safe for people living within it.
Polixa is divided into several sections.
• Central, which is where the business and commerce happens, including Dragonspine road where most of the big commercial shops are.
• Minister gardens, the centre for government and the houses of the parliament and the senate.
• East Hutten, or Eshu, the entertainment district, including everything from night clubs to art galleries.
• The Docklands, where the ships and trade come into the city.
• Sparrows, the rich apartment district, home too many of the rich, famous and powerful around the city.
• Glendour, the suburbs of the city, home to the professionals, merchants and the middle class members of society.
• The Gutter, the city slum, home to most of the city’s population.
• Kotsol, the cities main religious district. Home to many different faiths, including the largest cathedral, St Caiphas, in the city.
• Illsington, which houses the Polixa university, the Polixa Museums, Illsington park and Gengally stadium. This is where most of the magicians and wizards hang out, in various states of lucidity.
• The undercity, the ruins of the previous city, as well as containing the city’s sewer system. No-one is quite sure who or what still lurks down there, but the list includes angry dryads, lost tribes of proto-dwarves, at least six armies of golems, several lost dooms day weapons, cults, monsters, forgotten gods and at least three postmen.
Each of these sections has their own resident captain that answers to the various requests of the individual sections.
races
The races within the city are diverse. However, with diversity comes long memories and hidden prejudices that will creep back into play in the everyday workings of the city.
Humans: humans are the most diverse and the most common people within Polixa, and as a result, come in all shapes and sizes. The race often commits any crimes.
Dwarves: Pragmatic, straight forward, dwarves have suffered alot at the hands of various people. Wealthy industrialists, mostly, they are straight and blunt as a lump of granite and hold grudges for a long time. Criminal dwarves are mostly embezzlers and smugglers, but there is a lunatic fringe who believe in “dwarf-purity”.
Pearl elves: Intelligent, graceful and noble, extremely good with magic, martial arts and the arts. often erudite, polite, slow to anger and well spoken, though often contain double meanings in their words. Members often engage in white collar crimes, and also look down on everyone.
Jade elves: Intelligent, graceful, but more down to earth and good with technology as well as magic. Streetwise and friendly, talking to them is much easier than their pearl elf cousins, but they are quicker to anger. Members engage in white collar crimes, but aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
Ogres: the original people who lived on the land Polixa was built on, Ogres are big, round and boisterous. Friendly to everyone, they are skilled in fighting as well as technology, but aren’t so good with magic. Any crimes committed by ogres will be fights, vandalism and possibly wetwork.
Halflings: Love big food, shouting and sleeping in the sun, as well as having lots of sex, Halflings live life like one big party. Surprisingly, they are also deeply religious. Members who are criminals invariably have links to the Families of crime, who run protection rackets, smuggling operations and robberies.
Trolls: Trolls are, by far, the oldest race in the world. Their rigid caste system and laws have been passed down through generations. Trolls are calm, collected, but often seen as fastidieous, despite their monstrous appearance. Any crimes committed by Trolls will mostly be white collar ones, but domestic abuse is not beyond some of their reaches.
Orcs: Orcs are given a bit of a bum wrap, most of the time, but it has gotten markedly better for them. streetwise, canny, they often will take offense at anything, but they are just as likely to forgive you as well, and are ultimately very nice. Orcs criminals are mainly members in gangs, which will include fighting, muggings, robbery and vandalism.
Vampires: Vampires are relatively recent addition to Polixa, and there are still many people massively weary of them. naive, for the most part, but still very friendly, they tend to be a bit confused about local traditions. Vampire criminals are probably smugglers, traffickers and robbers.
Gremlins: Gremlins are generally a friendly bunch of people, but are often shy and a little isolated from the rest of the city. Very polite, but often easily frustrated by people questioning their motives. Gremlin criminals are mainly white collar criminals, but there have been rumours of strange trafficking.
High ranks of the polixa metropolitan police
Comissioner Edris Jackson- Orc Comissioner on the force. fair, just, father to his men, living under the shadow of his predecessor, who was fired after a scandal.
Captain Trong Ironbeard- Captain of the Central station. Gruff, surly, bad-tempered dwarf captain, though fiercely loyal to Comissoner Jackson.
Captain Janesh Mupali- Captain of the Minister garden station. A calm and relaxed troll, also official time keeper of the city.
Captain Joseph Keeply- captain of the East hutten station. Erudite and sophisticated human, but arrogant and actually quite corrupt (though he knows how to handle the situation).
Captain Guiseppe Tarria- Captain of the Docklands’ station. An ambitious halfing, but still respects his comrades efforts and is a team player.
Captain Sung Lan- Captain of the Sparrows’ station. Pearl elf heritage leads to her haughty manner, but really she’s fair and just in her actions.
Captain Francesca “Fluttershy” Serriano- captain of the Glendour station. A shy and unassuming halfling, who is not good with people, and is easily bullied by her peers.
Captain Darren Clash- the captain of the Gutter’s station. Runs an almost totalitarian operation, and is very demanding of his officers, but thinks the world of them.
Captain Ruth O’hare- captain of the Kostol station. A boisterous ogress whose friendly and jovial. Ironically an atheist put in charge of the religious district, she’s able to keep above the religious conflict, and expects her officers to do the same.
Captain Isarn Jarizan- Captain of the Illsington station. A friendly gremlin, but very lenient and often seen by his peers as a push over.
Mounted officer Ddraig Goch- the entire team. Considering he’s one of only three surviving dragons (one of whom is his wife), it’s entirely possible. Friendly and obedient to Jackson, but still rather mournful about his races passing.
Chief negiotiator Kosho Suru - a jade elf who heads up the chief negotiator department. Friendly, and makes no bones about the fact he’s actually possessed by an elder god in order to operate a frightening level of charisma and trust.
Dispatch officers Huttley, Greyaxe, Yu, Ghopar, Paloche, Mcbanis, Toka and Von purna- the dispatch officers for the respective districts.
The jailors- an ancient golem army charged with the policing of Polixa’s central prison, the Kennel. Often seen around either the police stations or the courtst. Headed by their leader, K-r-br-os.
Basic officer material
All officers have access to a statis glyphs, which when cast will freeze the target in statis lock, as well as a communication necklace that allows for them to communicate with the dispatch officers, the various other officers and sometimes the captains if they want to, and “Red Tape” that cordons off crime scenes in an alternate pocket dimension. Similarly, all officers have access to at least two spells (with the exception of dwarves who are essentially immune to magic) as well as a pistol. Contactus arcana are used to contact other police officers and report back to the station, as well as receive words from the dispatch officers.
All officers have access to various vehicles, including magic-powered chariots, magic carpets, and steam driven carriages for patrol or rapid response, as well as arrests of criminals. There is also occasions where beat officers will need to mount animals dealing with the more riotous populations.
Holding cells are found within the individual stations. Most of them are able to cancel out magical properties, and are usually used for people awaiting trial.
The police officers always follow due process of “Innocent until proven guilty”, no matter what. Pistols should only be used as warning shots, and should not be used for grevious injury.
Beat officers
Beat officers are those who patrol the streets of the various cities districts. They are armed with standard issue mail armour to provide protection, as well as a close combat weapon for incapacitating and a net gun for long ranged incapacitating.
Detectives
Detectives are those who are brought in to solve long running cases, with all access to districts. They aren’t armed, but usually contain various instruments such as recording scrolls, which are used to record testimonies on the fly, as well as various other environmental factors.
Additional material
Every station has a kitchen and a messhall, however packed lunches are allowed.
Members of the police are often referred to as the Polmet or “The fuzz”.
Relationships in the force are allowed, but are discouraged as it may interfere with work.
Each station has varying degrees of recreational activities.
Crimes
Murder, theft, smuggling, drug-dealing, arson, domestic abuse, assault, trafficking, owning slaves, necromancy, drunken disorderly, grave robbing, demon-summoning (note, demonology is fine, if frowned upon), conspiracy, fraud, unregulated prostitution (prostitutes require a permit which needs to be updated weekly), hacking private documents and identity theft.
Problem groups.
The Daily post- a newspaper, whose reporters barely stay on the side of the law and good taste. Reporters are always on the lookout for police officers to mess up in some way, so that they can write vitriol in their paper.
The Stone hand- the most extreme of the “Dwarf purity” groups, regularly engage in race riots and lynching’s.
The fey long gang- a group of very intelligent and powerful elven con-men, conned and blackmailed the previous commissioner out of power.
The Kilburn clan- Ogre family, who have had a long history of involving crime, almost to the point where the kilburns are considered “the nobility of the ne’er-do-wells.”
The Behemoth cartel- a vampire smuggling operation. ambitious and dangerous, the Cartel has a long history of killing members of the Polixa metropolitan.
The Malia- the biggest and most ruthless of the Halfling families of crime, the Malia often have informants everywhere.
The Smilers- a strange new extremist group, marked by the loss of their cheeks and perma grins. Anarchists who don’t care who they hurt.
The church of Moa-gan- a new and somewhat violent religion, whose members are encouraged to proselytise people at sword point.
The Machina cult- a bizarre cult, formed around a living, and un-living, Doomsday weapon, that is powered by hearts.
The Porcelain angels- a group of magicians who have taken to studying necromancy in order to resurrect dead loved ones.
The cupid killer- an dozen murders have been committed on romantic couples, ring fingers are always missing. No information over whether it’s single or multiple participants.
The sphinx- a number of break ins have occurred all through the city on random individuals properties. There is always a note with a riddle on, and whatever the riddle’s answer is has been stolen.

Trappings:
the characters have two spells. these are often related to their work. for example, a beat officer may have a spell that incapacitates a enemy at long distance, or heal wounded from a particular fight, whilst a detective might have a spell that allows for them to talk to animal witnesses or track and identify fingerprints. These are not powerful spells, mind you, as fireballs lose their effectiveness when you've burnt up all the evidence you need.
Trappings is stuff like equipment, clothes and personal belongings that the character will have. This will also denote their look, somewhat, as well as what they bring to the field.
Current characters
War-overlord as Drake Muldoon
Age: 30
Gender: male
Race: Orc
Position: Beat cop, Dog-handler.
Station/ beat: Docklands
Eye colour: Grey
Hair colour: Beard black, head unknown. (Drake's bald as a cueball, save for his beard, which he shaves every few days.)
Brief history: Drake is a no-nonsense beat cop, who's been around the block a few times and takes his job seriously. He doubles as a Dog-handler and is rarely seen without his pony-sized tracker/attack dog Mr. Pickles. Drake is tough and is of the opinion that there is no excuse for commiting crime. He also makes no secret of his opinion that the system is too soft. He's gunning for a promotion to detective, however he's had several charges agianst him in the past.(Breaking up fights by joining them, using his pistol against people, setting Mr. Pickles on fleeing suspects. Etc.)
Relationships: Married, his wife works in a bakery. She was the one that named Mr. Pickles. Drake complains about her a lot, but despite all the complaining he loves her to bits.
Spells: Spell of Hare's Speed (Increases running speed, mostly cast on Mr. Pickles), Lesser Warding spell/amulet (deflects minor harmfull spells).
Trappings: Reinforced Truncheon(referred to as The Beating Stick), Leather duster-coat with the standard mail armour worked into the lining, Thick leather leash for Mr. Pickles, Double barrel Pistol(non-standard), shirt, pants, Leather Boots, Wedding ring (Which Drake wears around his right tusk), Leather gloves, Com-necklace.
Meroe as Masha 'Mashenka' Vasilieva
Age: Hidden Ranks
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Position: Newly appointed Detective. No experience as a beat officer.
Station: Minister Gardens
Eye Colour: Silver
Hair Color: Black, long and totally straight, swept off her face loosely to the back of her head with an antique silver brooch and then left to fall down her back.
Brief History: Masha is a member of the noble Vasiliev clan - a ancient family of vampires known for their co-operation and friendliness towards regular society (or so it appears). She is the only surviving child of Alexis Vasiliev and his 10th wife Olga. Alexis used his family's wealth to rise to a position of considerable influence and has many politicians and dignitaries as 'friends'. It was because of this arrangement that Masha was promoted to the rank of Detective, mainly as the 'poster child' for the Pro-Vampire Inclusion Policy brought in by the ruling parties to show how vampires are now welcomed within the department, and this has caused considerable resentment openly directed at Masha, often in the form of mockery and exploitation of even the smallest of mistakes. Masha however, is a rather naive young woman. Cloistered her whole life by her family, she has little or no real awareness of the 'outside' world. However, she is tough physically and astute and is learning to deal with the open hostility she often faces from her colleagues. Is she merely a pawn for her father's political desires? Or is there more to 'Mashenka' than meets the eye.
Spells: As a vampire, Masha has many 'talents'. Polixa spells - Animalistic Empathy (Masha can communicate with animals) and 'Tongues' (Masha can understand every single language spoken, without the need of a translator).
Trappings: Masha wears the uniform of her family, but with the Polixa's insignia on her left lapel. Long black leather pants, highly embroidered black high necked military style jacket (with dull silver buttons along the right side), over an ivory mandarin style shirt. Black boots. Communication pin, pistol, pulse stun bracelet. Masha also wears black leather gloves. Every part of her is covered, except her face, the skin of which is very pale, almost transluscent. Everything about her is stiff and haughty.
Relationship: Masha has, at her birth, been betrothed to Adel Jarvinen - a member of a rival family. She has never met Adel, nor does she want too. Accepting her Detective position gave her the opportunity to delay her arranged marriage.
Invictus7 as Epra "Epi" Tustorovich
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Race: Vampire
Position: Detective Inspector
Station/ beat: Usually operates in and around "The Gutter".
Eye colour: Changes between Blue and Green
Hair colour: Short and black, shaven on the sides and back.
Brief history: Epra was a bit of a social misfit growing up, he had always seemed ashamed of his vampirism, his classmates said. His parents had busy jobs in Illsington sourcing art for the Polixa Museum. Epi didn't see much of his parents, by the time they came home, if he was still up, they would go to bed quickly, exhausted from the days work. With a lot of time to himself, he would often roam The Gutter aimlessly with hands in his pockets, afraid and jumpy like a little sparrow. At the age of 16, on one of his walks around the gutter, his uncanny bird-like sense of danger/disturbance alerted him of something. He saw two figures strutting on the other side of the road, tall and arrogant, they had fine clothes, tailored. Epi pretended not to notice and started walking slightly faster, back home. The figures, a man and a woman, started to stare right at him, and at this point, he bolted. The figures followed him with lightning speed and knocked him unconcious with the butt of a silver pistol one of them had procured from his jacket. Epi woke up in a dank basement filled with other vampires. He soon realised what he had become victim to, The Behemoth Cartel had captured him and were in the process it seemed of smuggling him to some remote place to submit him to slave labour, or worse. Somehow Epi escaped, but not unscathed, he still bears a scar of a bullet on his left calf. When he bacame of age, due to his incident with the Cartel, he decided he wanted to become a beat officer, but due to his injury, he was rejected and so was offered a job as a detective, his current assignment, of course, is the Behemoth Cartel.
Relationships: Epi, like when he was growing up, doesn't fit in with the rest of the Polmet stationed at the Gutter. His awkwardness around others never served him well in terms of relationships and stays away from most other officers. He follows orders well, a good quality considering Captain Clash's nature, and unusually for a detective, reports to the station most days.
Spells:
-(Time Jump) As a rare side effect of his vampirism, Epi is given the power when he initiates it, to move extremely fast for only a very short period of time, due to his injury.
-Epi is also an accomplished healer, and most of his spells are defensive and used sparingly.
Trappings:
-A deck of playing cards, kept in his left pants pocket. It's origins are unsure and so is its value and possible power.
-A silver pocket watch kept at all times on his person.
-An unadorned dagger, always kept fatally sharp.
-Clothing: (Epi has no value for excessive or useless equipment and so his clothing is mostly used only for need. Works in civilian clothes, as he is an non-uniform officer.)
--Cotton pants and shirt, with a full-length red-lined jacket.
Jabanoss as Ceraale Kanjusa
Age: 112
Gender: Male
Race: Troll
Position: Detective
Station/ beat: Sparrows
Eye colour: Green
Hair colour: Brown, but slightly pale. (Loose, half long hair that's a tiny bit curly.)
Brief history: Ceraale is the youngest son of wealth family. Since he's the youngest he has and will not inherit any major position within the hierarchy. He has freely chosen the serve the law, because of his flaming interest for justice. He also believes it's an honourable work with a worthy status. Ceraale is ambitious, and have high goals. He cares little about petty crimes and as he rather focus on crimes on higher scale, or such that involves strong powers. However he is loyal and orderly so he will unquestionably investigate any case he's been given.
Ceraale and his family are part of the Manaanila caste, his family are wealthy bankers. Owning one of the biggest banks in Polixa, Kanjusa Bank. The Kanjusas are also in position of many properties in Polixa.
As being part of a banker family, Ceraale know the importance of being patient, thoroughly and to never ignore details. He also far too well knows the power that money holds.
Relationships: Currently unmarried, neither he or his family has appointed any betrothed for him yet.
Spells: Burden; Ceraale can make people unable to hold any weapons or heavy objects for a short time.
Night Sight; Ceraale can see in the dark.
Trappings: Wears noble clothes, most often a brown tailcoat and a fitting vest with silver buttons, and with that white trousers that ends just below the knees where the socks cover the rest. Kinda like this, but a more simple style. He also has some small accessories:
- Scrolls and notes with a elegant quill pen.
- Golden chain watch kept in the outer pocket of his Vest.
- He also wear many rings on his long nailed fingers, rings made of gold adorned with gems of various colours.
- A white silk napkin in the pocket of tailcoat.
- A long and silvery rapier, adorned with red gems.
Wog_edn as Leiko Yoshe
Age: 52
Gender: Female
Race: Jade Elf
Position: Beat Officer
Station/ beat: Glendour
Eye colour: Golden
Hair colour: Black
Brief history: Silvia was a popular girl at school, the typical person to get way too much attention and high on themselves. She decided she wanted to become a Beat Officer to "make a difference" and doesn't really commit to it. She does use her charm and looks to get information from gullible men, but might look the other way if bribed. She constantly follows the Smilers as it "is soooo wrong to just do what you pleas and not follow the law and everything. D'uh"
Relationships: On and off relationships with way too many guys.
Spells: Leg-lock (Able to make a targets' legs lock together, making them unable to run away), Healing Touch (Able to mend wounds with only a touch)
Trappings: standard issue mail armour, Electric charged baton, Net Gun, statis glyphs, communication necklace, red tape, pistol. She is very physically weak, so she will use her weapons if threatened at all.
Bixie as Yorin Thunderbrow
Age: 64
Gender: male
Race: Dwarf
Position: Beat officer
Station/ beat: East hutten
Eye colour: brown
Hair colour: brown with flecks of grey.
Brief history: Yorin has been in the force for about 20 years and has been a beat officer all that time. His family work as professional runecrafters in central, with him being the only one to work in the polmet. After several run-ins with the Kilburns, the smilers, the stone hand, and Machina cult, he is beginning to feel his age. Cynical and gruff as only a dwarf can be, he is dogged in his pursuit of order in the city.
Relationships: Family is still very much alive. currently engaged with a jade elf, Kiro Watanabe.
Spells: Being a dwarf, Yorin can't use spells, but is completely immune to them.
Trappings: standard issue mail armour, Net Gun, statis glyphs, communication necklace, red tape, pistol. Also known to heft around a large hammer.

--Cotton pants and shirt, with a full-length red-lined jacket.
edit: changed name

I'm very tempted to join, since your trolls are brilliant.
On a second thought, yes I will join.
But could you explain more about the trolls caste system, Or can I just make a little bit how I want?
And what is a good age for a "young to medium"-aged troll?
Will add a character soon...

The Caste system for the trolls is a religious thing. Trolls born into certain families have this status attributed to them religiously. In the eyes of the law, however, the troll caste system isn't worth a damn, and progression up the ranks is available to anyone. the more fanatical troll families will adhere to the caste system more strictly, however, often shielding members of the Paramakya caste who have done serious wrong by offering themselves instead. thankfully, these instances are rare, and most troll families feel that life in Polixa is a "new life" for them.
Paramakya- the divine caste, associated with the deities and heroes of troll religion. Served by the other castes, but also required to give charity and blessings to those under them.
Manaanila- the honourable caste, under the Paramakya, but traditionally held in high status. Often associated with community arbiters, and most of the more religious families will have member in the Polmet.
Vimanrama- the humble caste, under the Manaanila, serving both Paramakya and Manaanila with care and attention.
Tukha- the despised caste, the lowest caste and religiously abhorrent, considered "Untouchable".
Captain Janesh Mupali is a member of the Tukha caste, and has often faced criticism from the more fundamental members of troll society that he should "Know his place".
as for an age reference, I'll post what all races consider to be middle age so that people know what margin they want to hit.
humans- 40's
dwarves- 70's
elves- 130's
ogres- 50's
halflings- 50's
Orcs- 40's
trolls- 190's
gremlins- 140's
vampires- 30's

Eye colour: Green
Hair colour: Brown, but slightly pale. (Loose, half long hair that's a tiny bit curly.)

He has freely chosen the serve the law, because of his flaming interest for justice. He also believes it's an honourable work with a worthy status. Ceraale is ambitious, and have high goals. Just tell me if I should add or change anything.

I might consider joining in, but first I wonder about a few things.
Will you be active in this, controlling the flow of the RP or will there be "free play"?
Will you control NPC or are we free to do so ourselves?
Is there a main story-line or will you just go with the flow?
However, this looks more "professional" than most of the RPs I've seen. Will we be able to expect a map of the city?
Also; how would the magic in this work?

Quote:

I am happy to act as "Dispatch" for people and to provide plot elements, but I am also happy with free play, as I've got a relatively interesting character to RP as.
Quote:

Npc's will be controlled by the players, which is why I've listed general characteristics of most of the higher ranking members of the Polmet.
Quote:

it's more of a "General life in the city" sort of set up. however, I must insist that officers cannot leave cases they are working on unsolved. One of the reasons why I have listed problem groups is to provide a few ideas for narratives.
Quote:

unfortunately, I am completely useless at drawing, but in terms of city lay out, I can describe it up in the city information section.
Quote:
Also; how would the magic in this work?
the magic would be minor spells that characters will use to catch suspects or investigate crime scenes. a spell may be cast no more than 3 times during a day, and until a character sleeps, that spell isn't going to come back.
also, Jabanoss, that's what people consider to be their middle-ages. rather than their life expectancy. a 93 year old troll is little more than a teenager in troll's eyes. sorry for the confusion.

I've never successfully played a girl before (in a RP at least ) .. so I'll give it a try!
Character sheet
Name: Leiko Yoshe
To make it easy personality/behaviour-wise: Think "Harmony" from the Buffy/Angel-series
26 is a bit young as she's an elf?

that would be an elven equivelant of a 12 year old. my advice is double that.
also, Jade elves and Pearl elves have a oriental culture to them, with Jade elves being based on Japan and Pearl elves on China respectively. Silvia fey as a name...
in a similar way to how most races are based on different cultural identities. Trolls are based on india, Dwarves are based on the norse, Ogres are celtic, Gremlins are arabic, Vampires are semi russian, Halflings are italian/greek etc. Just a tipbit of info.

behaviours for everyone, as well as history and stuff, is fine, it's just niggling things like names and ages.
really, it's just a bit of info. Maybe Silvia got her name changed on a whim.
