Is there any meaning in ANY of our lives?
They're pointless.
If nothing that we do matters then the only thing that matters is what we do.
But still, change the name to something better. Some thoughts will just get lost in the depths of tavern too easily.

Our lives matter if we want them to matter, even if the changes we make are only temporary, if we try to make any changes at all, we've made a difference, and our lives haven't been wasted.

Post-modernist notion, bravo. I hadn't come up with that at your age.

What point is there in making a difference? Why not take the other choice of not making a difference? Is good any better? Is bad any worse?
All it matters is to you. And you won't be the same person after you've done it. Of course there can be no evolution without change but is it needed? Why would it be? Why not just stagnate? Is there a real difference between the two?
If you look at it from a bigger scale of things it's absolutely meaningless. You live, you die. This much is certain. How you life and how you die? In the end it doesn't matter. You'll be dead anyways. You might be forgotten later than others but you'll still be forgotten one day. So what meaning is there to life than but to die?

Ours is to do our duty and serve, nothing more nothing less, modern society has forgotten. Freedom of choice they say, yet it is more of a cage then ever before, children run rampant in the absence of purpose, then again this society is doomed to fail, because of people like Carcity, who would rather search for a purpose then embrace a life of emtyness and regret. I salute you.

What if one does not identify himself with king, country or god? What if one is just an individual?

Tssss, come on, tsar-Ivor. A true man doesn't have to back down on his own opinions.
Clearly, this topic has been discussed to death, at the point everyone patted carcity nicely on the back for confirming that he does think of his own accord, so why can't you do likewise and show us your line of thought, but to me it seems incongruous or at least weird and you assume much of society that doesn't fit with my view, so I would really like you to continue in bigger and better-structured posts. It's a good way to prove me wrong in my smug face by going this way.
EDIT: Clearly, adrius meant to say: What if I have no god or country or universe I feel allegiance to? Is it okay to employ my talents for myself?
I have a follow-up question: What if one doesn't posses a particular talent or gift? Or what if it is completely useless to society?

This world has always been unbalanced, perfect balance is death or the void, Ivor.
But enough of this pseudo-philosopher "I'm going to say something vague, so I am deep" that I read of you frequently and really makes my blood boil for reasons that are pretty irrational, but I'd rather give expression to, now, rather than wait until I cannibalise someone who strayed into my room by accident, thinking he was just entering some ruins or a deserted construction site or something.
The door to my room
Anyway, I'm calling you out. What do you mean with unbalance? You mean economical, political, social or cultural unbalance (the four big slices of history, but you're probably familiar with that)? Or all four? Neither? Don't you even dare say something, like spiritual!
And of course it's totally normal that there's a bunch of aimless people. I can give examples of that appearing in literature, since Roman times. What Hegelian shift are people like Carcity going to bring?

Everything you choose to do or not to do shapes yourself and the people around you, perhaps you won't make any huge difference, but maybe you helped someone do, instantly making your life meaningful even on a global scale.
@Tsar, What if our duty is to not do our duty? I believe like you, that everyone has some form of purpose with their lives, a purpose that helps create the world we live in, and everyone is required, even if their purpose seems meaningless.
