While Mad Wizard is a good advanced class to have, its value is actually decreased, when commbined with mages staff and robe -- if you have these 2 items, ice bolt or illusion costs you 1 mana anyway, wizard or not. And theres never time to cast mana flare (another good reason to be a wizard -- so you dont have to), because first that cyclops needs forgetfulness, etc. Biggest problem with wizard is that every time he casts an order spell, his collection of chaos skills is unutilized, and thats a waste.
Dark Priest with vampiric touch sounds mighty, but hey -- why should a guy twice skilled in magic suddenly take part in melee combat? For effective use the guy needs GM combat, GM melee, and enough life and death magic to stay dark priest. Thats way expensive experiencewise and also wasteful -- whether kicking, cursing or blessing, he is always wasting already 2 sets of skills. Its cheaper to have barbarian and a death magic hero to vampirize the barb.
Seer however never wastes a single skill, moves fast, kills relatively well, and always goes to the right direction because of the really wide visibility area, so actually a very nice class, almost as dangerous as a ranger. Even more dangerous when combined with big army.

Opeth, I agree that order magic is probably the best magic type, especially if you are playing with order town ....

I can see ypur point.
I can also see that the Seer is a better skill type than the Bard, who someone earlier in this thread liked. Why? Because the lvl 2 Illusion spell is able to make illusions of lvl 4 creatures, while with Nature magic, you'll need GM level to summon these kinds of creatures.
Ofc, you being able to make illusions of lvl 4s demands that you either have lvl4 creatures in your army, which'll render your Stealth useless, or you'll hav to be fighting lvl4s, which'll probbly kill you, no matter how high levelled your hero is. Unless he can summon enough creatures to hold the enemy creatures at bay...

Well, I kind of like Shadow Mage.
Not only because I like the combination Order/Death Magic,. but also because 50% ranged defence is very good since your hero will stay alive longer and can cast a lot of Raise and Animation spells.

i always like the Demonologist class. The summon demon spells don't require you to visit mage guild/conservatory/mage tower. Demonologist can also be useful in single map, because only at level 3 [only 2 learning stones and 0 battle required] he can get summon imps spell for free provided the hero can purchase/learn Basic Nature Magic from the structure/university.
Summon Imps spell summons relatively large amount [100+ per 5 MP cost summon] of disposable Imps for 'free', useful for clearing mines/resources guard; and most importantly, to get exps for the novice Demonologist to achieve level 7-8, so now he can case Summon Cerberus [again, always in a relatively large number for 'free'] to attack level 2/3 neutral creatures in the map.
Summon Ice Demons can be obtained once you reach around level 11-12. With this spell, you can pretty much attack ANY neutral stacks in the map. Of course for the level 4 stack does require the Demonologist to do a little hit and flee. But the point you don't have to sacrifice armies at all to defeat the stack, because MP for summoning demons is easily refilled as long as you have at least one non-might town.
The Summon Ice Demon spell is pretty much the turning point of the game; meaning it is the cue for the Demonologist to begin the invasion to conquer more town, singlehandedly even! Ice Demons have fantastic stats and special, they're so much better than vampires/VenomSpawns. Also you can always summon imps for the hero LOS cover and mana quencher. Herbalism and Occultism guarantee you to always enough mana to summon Ice Demon to conquer town of your choice; If they don't, just inflict enough casualties then flee to lay siege another day.
and don't forget the immo potions for the Combat-less Demonologist...
I once get MegaDragon rank [1,040 points] using semi-Demonologist path in Expert difficulty of Nature's Revenge map. My best score in single scenario so far...

I like Warden and Field Marshall.
both give bonuses to all creatures in the hero's army that can minimize their own losses and maximize their own killings. victory can be achieved easier.
