[MapEdPatch] - by GnollKing
The purpose or "goal" of this project is to rip/make as many new objects as possible and plant them into WoG. I have currently completed making all of the Heroes 2 objects, and am working on another game (that yet remains a surprise ). This first post will be updated from time to time, and I will upload my current progress propably a few times per month
Updated: November 8th 2011
Current version of the patch: 1.00
Currently working on: I'm not telling yet
Total amount of objects: 459
Download: MediaFire (1.8 MB)
Installation: Just extract everything from the *.zip file into your Data folder in your Heroes 3 WoG directory and run MaEdPa10.bat.
Easy and super-fast install, just two clicks and you're done!
This was tested with the latest WoG version (3.58f + ERA 1.81) downloadable here: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=34324
I am not entirely sure if it'll work with any other versions.
Install at your own risk, I am not resposible for any damage done to your computer!
Works for me and my friends with Windows 7.
Patch works 100% with HD-mod, it will not affect the game, only the editor
IMPORTANT!: After installing you will have a folder in your Data folder in your Heroes 3 WoG directory with the name "GK's MapEdPatch". It contains text files for all the new objects, for an example HoMM 2 and All-In-One. Choose the one you wish and replace the text file in your Data directory with the one you chose. If you place the All-In-One text file to your Data folder, replacing the current one there, your map editor will contain ALL the old + new objects. If you choose the HoMM 2 text file, the map editor will contain ONLY the new Heroes 2 objects. It is really way more simple than it may sound .
IF you have ANY questions, ask. I am here just for that .
Previews:
Mixture of H2 & H3 Rough:
Mountains (Heroes 2):
Trees (Heroes 2):
Other important notes:
Not even nearly are all the new objects shown above. Just the most important and best ones
If anyone creates a map with the patch, it can still be edited and played with all the later versions (not quaranteed )

No, I extracted these from HoMM 2 just for fun, it ain't no bigger project.
I plan to add all possible objects (mostly decorative), from all the games I got .

Gnolking, great work. Can you include Objector file/bat to so it can combine with all other mods?
It has no sense to create new graphics anymore if people has to activate them one by one in zeobjts.txt. Objector does all the work.

@Sal, Yes, but since I haven't made much other *.defs yet, it can wait a while , I'll do it as soon as I can. (First I need to learn how to use it )
@Pewu, Thank you .
I have been working non-stop for a long time now (just ate and went to sauna), and I have progressed pretty good. All the Grass objects (the decorative, for an example trees, mountains, rocks, lakes, flowers, etc.) are now finished .
If anyone wishes I can upload pictures or the 0.2 version of the patch.
It'll most propably take much much longer for the next, 0.3, version to be made, since I got some real work to do. But wait, it's soon weekend, so maybe after that I could release it if I have the time to make the *.defs.. Who am I kidding, there's always time for Heroes

It is very easy, I explained step by step. It will add all lines for your objects to an existing zeobjts.txt, so we don't need a backup or use another folder. Ask in that thread if anything not clear, the first time may look complicate, but it isn't.

Okay, I'll see what I can do
But anyways, first post was updated, the second version is now avaiable (it'll take longer for the next version to come, but I promise it WILL come ).

Another reason why I started this project was that I was searching GrayFace's homepage, just for fun (so many great tools ), and I came across a tool named IcnPack v.1.1. It is an awesome tool to extract the *.bmps from *.icn files (Heroes 2 *.defs). So I just had to test it and it works like a charm .
If anyone wishes to try it out look here:

Those objects look great, though I think it's better to make whole areas with them (smth like those on your screens) rather then mix with H3 graphics.
Also the name of the mod/thread is confusing a bit cause we already have MapEdPatch and it does patch h3wmaped.exe.

They can be mixed but in specific areas and within consistent idea. Like you take a portal towards the past, and find yourself playing Heroes 2 graphics. Then back to the future. I did that in Atlantis, where a portal will lead you to the Star Wars production, meet C-3PO and Chewbacca.
Although today I am very picky on graphics mixture. I deleted almost every object which does not perfectly fit in regular editor. From 2000 or so I kept only 15, mostly birds, fire camps and Astaroth objects, which are awesome in.

Alright ! It works on my Editor.
Surprisingly, mixing H2 and H3 decorative stuff isn't that bad. It may be actually good. Ty for ripping those, Gnollking.
[demanding fan mode ON]
Now would it be possible to have animated H2 trees and lakes
[demanding fan mode OFF]
Great work anyway ! Can"t wait for the next releases.

Bah, Darkloke already did a great work by animating all H3 lakes, and nobody is using them, so H2 now...

Hmm I don't know. The fact that no one releases maps with the animated lakes doesn't mean no one uses them to play or keeps their own maps for themselves. I know that the aim of the community is to share things, but well. I like playing maps with animated trees and lakes.
Anyway, my comment doesn't have to be taken serisouly. This is still great to have that H2 stuff around.

Thank you everybody for all the positive comments, that's why I keep doing this
Later today I will upload the latest version, which is currently 0.44 (it'll reach version 1.0 when I am done making H2 objects and move to another game). I can tell you already that it'll contain about twice (if not more) the current amount of new objects. It'll also contain objects with functions (not only deco), and some animated.
Edit:
Masterpost updated! Latest version avaiable for download is now 0.44!
Previous version had 140 objects, this one 260
Includes ALL objects for Dirt, Sand and Grass terrains + the basic objects for every other terrain (such as trees, grounds, obelisks & mountains).
Some objects are now animated, such as windmills, lighthouses & some seer's huts and even mines, + many more!
Feel free to check it out (download from first post).
I did not yet include the version with Objector, but if anyone wishes I could make that now (otherwise I'll add that function a bit later).
Also, currently all the new objects will be found at the top of the lists in Map Editor. Is this good, or would it be better to put them at the end of the list? I guess if you use the Objector, it'll automatically put them to the end, yes?

Yes, you only have to create a new txt files with objecteditor.exe, paste inside all your objects lines, it will add them at the end of any zeobjts.txt without changing previous graphics installed. For me is a must, unless we have 15 WoG folders, each one with a new configuration.
