An idea just popped into my mind

How about, when people create maps with my patch installed, they could send them to me and I would add them to the package with the next version of the patch?

So this way the patch would not be only for map-makers who often seem to not share their masterpieces, but for players, too! They could download the patch and play the best of the maps, with NEW objects!?

So, anyone interested, or is this just a bad idea..?

That would be most appreciated
Anyone who wants can make maps and send them to me, so they'll be added to the next version of the patch

I could make some by myself when I find the time for it, but for now I need to concentrate on my other projects (making objects and another side-project).

Is it possible that your project will help start the Heroes III succesion wars mod? I would like to give it a try...

I know that those guys stoped working on it but i think they shared the progress with some members of HC...

Have you conducted any of the remaining members of this mod (if there is in fact anyone left to work on it)?

Help start? Not sure if I correctly understand what you mean, but if you wish, you can use my *.defs if you wish to revive the succession wars mod.

Yes, they quit, and as far as I remember, you can download all of their work from their thread, but I'm not entirely sure..

No, I haven't..

I don't intend on completing this mod myself, i just thought i'd ask you if you have condacted any of the former members of the Succesion Wars mod and whether you know if they will continue working on it.

It just seemed to me that with your objects the mod would be now almost complete so... I hoped someone would jump on this opportunity and finish it, that's all.

Ah, I see..

But, as far as I know, they still need 2 more towns to complete, so it's still quite a lot of work.

Well lots of work lots of problems.
Thats what I say when I work. But i'm astonished how that guys accomplished a full-conversion (without finishing few things).
Anyway i am looking onwards for the completion of the mod.

Latest Version: 1.00

First post updated, a little preview:

Surprise!

The long-awaited (I hope so) version 1.0 is finally here!

Every Heroes 2 object is done, all the Dirt, Sand, Grass, Snow, Swamp, Rough, Subterranean, Lava, Water, Resource and All Terrain objects are finished! Patch contains currently 459 objects. There are 52 mountains, 36 trees, 65 adventure objects, 15 water objects and hundreds more! Every terrain now has three sizes of special grounds, Big, Med and Small. Water has also three grounds, which are fully animated. There are so many objects I can't even believe it. I've worked 24/7 (well, NOT) for 3 days and am finally proud to present the version 1.0!

IMPORTANT!: After installing you will have a folder in your Data folder in your Heroes 3 WoG directory with the name "GK's MapEdPatch". It contains text files for all the new objects, for an example HoMM 2 and All-In-One. Choose the one you wish and replace the text file in your Data directory with the one you chose. If you place the All-In-One text file to your Data folder, replacing the current one there, your map editor will contain ALL the old + new objects. If you choose the HoMM 2 text file, the map editor will contain ONLY the new Heroes 2 objects. It really is so much more simple than it may sound .

IF you have ANY questions, ASK. I am here just for that .

And one more thing, this version is not compatible with earlier versions, because that some of the *.def names were changed. So, if anyone has started to make maps with the earlier versions, they'll not work with this one .

Please tell me what you think, all sort of comments are most welcome .

Well, it should be, you just wouldn't have all the objects in the editor at the same time. As long as one keeps the zeobjts.txt file from each map objects addition, I think you can install as many as you want, since that is the text file that contains the objects shown in the editor

Just downloaded it, and it works fine. You even wrote objects descriptions in the editor (loved to see the "tar pit" again for instance).

You almost made me cry with that patch. Too much nostalgia rushing to my head

Sadly I don't have time right now to create a new map. But will do it asap.

Epic work.

About that Tar Pit, I noticed it was already written in the objnames.txt (which contains the names for the objects), but apparently was unused in HoMM 3.. And thank you very much
