Why would the system treat morale and luck as same weight as attack/ defense?
It's clear that in the current system, morale and luck holds the same weight as might power, might defense, magic power and magic defense in terms of character building. +4 leadership/destiny artifacts are of the same artifact tie and similar price of +4 might power ones. One skill point can exchange 2 points of might power or 2 points of leadership. Even in hero¡¯s natural growth luck and morale is treated the same as the other 4 attributes.
The problem is it really does not deserve it. Let¡¯s have a direct comparison between might power and luck. Increase hero¡¯s might power from 0 to 1 roughly increase might damage by 2.5% while increase hero¡¯s luck by 1 will increase damage of both might and magic by a bit less than 0.5%. This is because it increases the chance of striking a critical hit for 50% more damage by 1 percent, so it¡¯s half of 1%. Since majority of units have a damage type of physical, 2.5% increase in physical damage at least equals 1.5% overall damage. That¡¯s 3 times the benefit of 1 point of luck. It¡¯s almost the same case for leadership, but a bit more complicated.
The gap grows closer as values of attributes increase. Luck and morale is fairly constant, confers a minimum of 0.4% increase( when luck grows from 49 to 50). At the same time attack and defense devalues faster. An increase from 50 might power to 51 might power only give 1% physical damage increase, but that¡¯s still twice the effect of morale or luck.
The conclusion is: please ignore any skill or artifact that increases luck and morale unless it¡¯s at least twice the value your alternative artifact/skill confers in attack or defense. A +8 destiny relic is roughly the same as a +4 might power sword in terms of attack power.
As a side note, necropolis gets a hidden advantage in this. It¡¯s because undead hero will never grow morale when level up, thus a naked lvl 30 deathknight will beat a heaven knight of the same level in every way in terms of status. They can enjoy the undead mind immunity benefit without suffering much from the classical no-morale disadvantage, as every one with morale will still save up the equipment slot/ skill point for something more useful. That leaves the creature's default morale, with is about 3% to 5% damage increase. mind-immue for 5% loss in damage, a really good bargin.

that is correct, but you can easily increase morale and luck effects.
it is just a minor bit of codeing. for the luck part it is only a number.

The thing is though, I would only focus on morale and luck stats if I was playing Haven or Inferno faction. For other factions, it just seems like there are better things to go for!

I was referring to the faction abilities regarding luck and morale....but I hear you, most people think luck and morale are pretty useless at triggering, but is it really? I had rank 3 luck with Inferno and the luck was going often on creatures...

Can't be, the same with Morale, I had Rank 3 Morale and my troops were getting morale all the time, why is this then? No artifacts or other morale raising spells....

This whole system where luck and morale rise to astronomical heights is a little weird. Why couldn't they just keep the original setting with 3 luck and 3 morale per hero with luck and leadership?

It feels just right if you ask me. H1-3 was incredibly satisfying but rare. H4.. sucked. H5 was too good, too frequent and in essence utterly imbalanced. The current system allows each unit to have their own stat, luck/morale being part of the hero prograssion and picking as many luck/morale artifacts as you can without hitting a cap nor becoming imbalanced. It does a good job at giving factions and individual units an identity and I like that.
