Quote: Sorry for posting this here, but I have too few forum traffic to open up a thread of my own ... ;-)
Talking of Stronghold's first mission - I really need a nudge in the right direction from you experienced guys. Without getting too spoiler-ish ... I started that mission two times, and I don't feel like I'm really getting anywhere. Troop conservation seems to be the key in the beginning. First time, I took the first Haven town you come across - the one with the relatively weak defence - and then it was securing the area, freeing the goblins south of town and building up some more troops. Or so I thought. The AI kept sending enemy heroes that could be taken on one-on-one but still whittled down my hard-earned troops. I felt compelled to go for the second Haven town east of the first - I lost too many units and wasn't strong enough to hold the second area and go for the quests at the same time.
I reloaded the map, and this time I ignored the first Haven town and went straight south to the "neutral" area. I managed to grab some additional troops, but not without losses, and I was disappointed to see that there is no town in this area that you can conquer and build up. So I was forced back to the method of my previous attempt, with a delay in game time on top of it ...
For the moment, I quit the Stronghold campaign, but I would really like to go back to it as it was said it is the best choice chronologically. Btw, I plan to skill Sandor towards Blood, of course with a focus on Might abilities. Before that, I played the first three Necro missions and didn't encounter any major problems. All missions were played on normal difficulty.
So I would really appreciate some advice on Stronghold 1. Thanks alot in advance!
What difficulty are you playing on? Just for some general pointers that worked out very easily in custom difficulty (Normal AI, Normal resources, normal growth, weak neutral stacks) and also in straight normal (albeit a bit tougher) was to go for first haven town within the first week (if you skill logistics and dont waste movement you can get there easily, even with picking up most of the stuff in the starting area). Then go for goblins, and then aim to capture the second haven town to your right. After that its pretty much straight forward! Remember to look out for friendly troops to join you, they are pretty much all over.

Quote: The order is as follows:
- Heart of Nightmares (Collectors' edition map)
- Prologue 1
- Prologue 2
- Stronghold 1
- Sanctuary 1
- Inferno 1
- Haven 1
- Necropolis 1
- Stronghold 2
- Sanctuary 2
- Haven 2
- Necropolis 2
- Sanctuary 3
- Stronghold 3
- Inferno 2
- Necropolis 3
- Inferno 3
- Sanctuary 4
- Stronghold 4
- Haven 3
- Necropolis 4
- Haven 4
- Inferno 4
- Epilogues
Thanks for the information. Would have been nice to know before I started the campaign. Playing the Necro campaign first, straight through, was an odd experience. Lots of random information flying all over the place.

@Anesthetize:
Thanks for giving some advice. So I was actually on the right track from the start, I only have to hurry a bit ... I played on normal difficulty, like the Necro missions.

Yes, necro missions are really simple the way necromancy works atm, so be prepared for more challenging missions in the other campaigns. I actually spent a lot of time on the stronghold 1, so it is indeed possible to finish even when taking your time. Just work on getting your dwellings up ASAP, so you can get some growth going. Its also a lot harder if you go for a pure might hero than if you sprinkle some spells, stronghold units aren't that good at staying alive ^^

Thx for the campaign order.
I have a problem tho. When I finish for example the stronghold Mission 1 - and move on to mission 2, if I start the inferno mission 1, then all other missions are not saved
what can i do in this case ?

What a ridiculous convoluted campaign scheme. But it makes clear why I suddenly got intermissions out of the blue in the Necro campaign that didn't seem to make much sense. As it is, after playing the Tutorial missions, I started on the campaigns, working from left to right. Still on the Necro campaign, though.

The campaigns are well done, but it is really a shame they did it like this and give no order to the stories. They could at least have organised the faction buttons in some order.

A recommended campaign map order would have been good to have in-game though as well, no? After you start finishing those races one by one it is unfortunately too late.
I played all 4 Inferno maps first and - although the story did make sense - the scenario progression felt somewhat rushed (many logical gaps)

Indeed! I wonder why this strange chronological mess is in game. Thus I bump this for general usefulness.

does the game recognize the way in which you've built your heroes if you were to play "the recommended order", as well as save the artifact sets that you've collected?

This recommended campaign order is cool, but is there a recommended reputation order one should go for in each faction?

Not really, although as Omega already noted elsewhere, the armour the heroes are wearing in the loading screens seems to imply which paths are going to be "canonical". We have:
Anastasya - Magic, Tears
Anton - Might, Tears
Kiril - Might, Blood
Irina - Might, Tears
Sandor - Might, Blood

I'm quite disappointed at how they make the campaign story jump all over the place if you do one faction by faction. I choose to finish all the mission in a single faction first instead of doing it in story order.
Another disappointment so far is that the hardest mode for the campaign has been much easier than h5. I completed santuary , stronghold stuck at map 2 due to bug , haven at map 3. Hopefully, some other maps pose some challenge because those i've done are too easy.

Hmmm yes, it's strange that they made the campaign with 1 out of 5 as a magic hero and the rest might heroes....

Well if you use the default which you should if u want to go by the story...Irina is magic. Artwork is just ermmm , the graphic designers probably never communicate well with the rest of team...

I play using the "correct" line up with following Heroes :
Sandro - Might, Blood
Irina - Magic, Blood
Anton - Might, Blood
Kiril - Might, Tears
Anatasya - Magic, Tears
The first three characters just too violent in personality for Tears, imho.
I am stuck in the middle of swamp of boredom of playing Heroes 6 right now, so does anyone have finished the scenario and willing to share the spoilers?
