but that's still not a reason to do it...

I too agree and unfortunatly I must admit to being the slow kind. Would never say I am stupid but I am a slow thinker absolutly hate writing assignments. And school never properly prepares you for the future. It is pretty much all about pointless facts and assignments.

Quote: From the story about Sun to the talk about wars... Our brain cells are running like crazy, but is it true that we use only 10% of our brain?
I just happened to ran into this little text on Listverse.
"Common Misconception: Humans use only 10% of their brain
This is utterly false. No one really knows how this myth started – but what we do know is how it has been perpetuated for so long. When people first began making this false claim, psychics “decided” that this explained why some people had paranormal abilities and others didn’t: paranormal powers were unleashed in people who had developed the use of more than 10% of the brain. They believed that some region of the brain, if tapped, could provide psychic abilities. This certainly helped their bottom line as thousands of books have since come out aiming to “teach” people how to develop this power. So, the truth of the matter? Humans use 100% of their brain – that is why it is there! Here is a case in point: a hemispherectomy – this is the surgical procedure that removes an entire half of the brain. When this surgery is performed, the patient becomes paralyzed in half of their body."

Quote: What is up with all this human-self-hating and disbelief in humanity nowadays? Sure, we humans are capable of great senseless evil but also of the opposite.
It would be a really nice change if I could read about a person risking his/her life to save a complete stranger instead of brutal murder and rape.
I agree with you on this of course, but it's not exactly a saccarine world or one where people care for strangers or sometimes even for their own family...
The most fearsome enemies of all to humans are themselves.. Each one of us can be like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

but we don't use all our brain all the time, we only use the parts that are useful to us at a given moment. maybe that's from where the 10% figure comes.

Yeah, I thought of the 10% at the time too! Still, there may be another use for the rest - the thelepathic socialising. Any idea on how to achive it?

I think that we already can talk without using our voice. When in love your neurons and the neurons of the person that feels the same communicate, thus creating the feeling of love. I don't know if thats true, but I hope it is 'couse we can "play" with it and create an even stronger communication.

Its just the occasional misanthropia.
There are more reasons to hate humans than a mite. Its just that humans have not evolved. Our society is fragile,we are simply not fit for this world.
Watch this video:
Carl Sagan. I have not seen anybody who was so truthful with what he said.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wupToqz1e2g
Sadly,I classify myself as a misanthrope, pardon my biased judgement against humanity.
PS: Dont forget to cry while watching that video
