If Ubi made the game alone, it would have been a good game, or even an epic game.
This coming from the person who a few weeks ago proclaimed HoMM VI was going to be the best HoMM evah, and then made a hate thread about it.
Rampant fanboyish doesn't do your credibility any good.

I think you're missing the point, Moonlith. H6 has some good parts to it that give it the potential to be the best installment in the series - but then it also has some really awful parts that make it not worth the time.
What he's saying is that if Ubisoft had developed the game in-house, rather than contracting it out to an independent developer, the result would have been a much more polished version of the game where the good parts far outshone the bad parts, rather than the other way around.
I still say the problem is that there were two different companies working on the same project, and that never ends well. A Black Hole exclusive would have probably had some issues from a gameplay perspective, and it might not have been a game you'd want to play, but I suspect that it would have had fewer bugs and a more consistent design.
Sure, the Ubisoft version would be better, because they could allocate more resources to it, but the current hodge-podge of in-house/out-of-house design choices doesn't work at all.

I think I began playing H4 only after it got patched, so I don't know what was so bad about it when it was released. apart from a few very obvious balance problems, I didn't see major problems. in another hand, stuffs like genies and vampires were never really fixed. equilibris even made genies somewhat stronger by allowing them to cast mass slow (???)

I liked Mark of Chaos. Though it was all buggy for me and kept crashing and whatnot. They mostly failed in the marketing department.

The problem is less with one or the other, but rather with miscommunication between the two, arbitrary or overly optimistic deadlines, and incomplete information regarding the needs of the game.
I tink I know why they have such optimistic deadlines. They are doing them to keep their equity owners base calm and steadly expanding.
Shame on them!
