Sorry. Had to log back in after a long time of creeping to vote and break this tie.
I love the Deep Hydras for their regeneration. You can deploy them. Let them be shot at while you blast away at shooter creeps. Then "wait" with the hydras while they slowly go back to no loss (+ tent helps a little).
So useful and they also make excellent tanks with no retaliation, good hit points, large, and the hydra attack.
The only other creature that is as great are stalkers and black dragons, but stalkers quickly become unnecessary after a certain level and black dragons are so expensive by the time you get them the game is decided.

Large is very very bad for the poor hydra. That way it gets whiped out 1st turn by dragons/corns/pallys etc. Dungeon doesnt have some uber shooter that needs protection.

Blood maidens are great for the first 2/3 weeks. But against another player or even against the AI hero, they are just too easy to wipe out in an early concentrated attack (and frequently they are because of their high intiative/high attack/no retal). But given the rush factor of dungeon I can see why they get votes!

I didn't vote based on use. I voted for nostalgia purposes.
Based on use, I'd vote for the blood maidens easily. Strike & return with no retaliation is a great combo. The only problems I had with them is they died in droves and looked absolutely ridiculous. Nothing more frightening than skanks in 6" heels running at you with knives.

There, there, easy now ... I fixed it for you. Lexxan sort of made me regret not voting for Assassins, though ... they were a pretty interesting (if somewhat imbalanced) unit.
