Hey, that was a joke. I meant I walked past the prison and didn't find it -> so I'm just blind, not tactically impaired (that hard, anyway)

...well, either I missed something super crucial again or something is bugged in my game. First that unbeatable (in normal fight) Brute in Chaser with 105000 hp, now I went to Gelu in Ice Arrow and in 2nd month his army looks this way: http://oi60.tinypic.com/2znocjd.jpg People in map comments say he should be beaten early, I loaded a savegame from 2nd week and checked him, it wasn't much different  The black dragons in the underground escalated to 3500 fully experienced dragons by month 4 too, I'm clueless haha. Had fun while it lasted though, really nice map design.

Ok, is a matter of platform mods priority. At base should be wog, then wog revised, then wog plus. Then all the others mods, no matter the order. This way you won't get errors. Your order is messed.
Then your game is not bugged, is just that those two maps are not that easy. The brute in Chaser can be killed in one hit if your commander got death stare-so you should prioritize that skill direction-then in Ice Arrow you must visit the emerald towers every week and buy upgrades for titans and sharps. Going into Gelu battle with gremlins is not a smart move.

Hah, got it  Damn, didn't even cross my mind with the death stare. Well, I guess I'll always have my victory over the big bunch of faerie dragons with my not-upgraded army at least haha. Thanks for telling me, it's always fun to see what I missed/what I should have done It's such a shame people don't do let's plays of difficult HoMM maps.

Cool But I wonder, why don't the ogre shamans and trolls move out of the castle? They could get around the field and smash the archers easily, no?

Errr, I think you have a long way to go
Placing one creature in front of castle gate prohibits defenders from getting out, no matter if the creature remains alive or not. That's a common tactic used against computer.

Madness, lol. I fear don't know any such tricks, so yeah, I'll leave the pro maps to pros. Shame, I really like those odd maps with surprising changes, events, non-random areas, *some* challenge, and an actual storyline progression. SO much more fun. I cannot play the bland normal ones anymore, but these fun ones are so next level HoMM knowledge I'd spend more time bugging people for tricks than playing the game. Mapmakers and remaining WoG players are just too good at this game I tried another one of those fancy maps and failed (then half-failed and was 2 movement points too slow. Would still probably die anyway so I give up at this point  ).

Hello 
I have installed ERA and GoW from links provided in this forum but the game crashes (some message box with some dribble on it shows up) and I can't continue playing, it always crashes at same point.
For example, it crashes when I move on to next day. I can play differently and it still crashes.
I have Homm3 complete from CD and WOG (I think it's also from here).
New laptop, WIN 8 (ugh, I know  ). No idea what could be the problem, where to start. I'm not THAT good in all those computer stuff
If someone could push me in right direction, I would be ever so grateful.
UPDATE from last night:
Now it's completely gone. It crashes when I try to begin a game (after I choose the castle etc).
Can't play WOG either, everything is gray in options. I suppose that is fixable but atm I am without the game.

Era has wog inside. Era IS wog.
You don't need anything else. Just double click on era and specify your Heroes 3 folder before install.

Don't have anything to lose at this point anyway, I have to install something again
Do I have to tweak compatibility?
Win 8 sucks, I had to run WOG as win 98, all previous options were crashing like crazy. It was good at win 98.
Also, I saw somewhere ealier that I shouldn't install homm in program files, yes?

Reporting back
So I have installed homm3 complete and ERA. Era doesn't have a normal icon on desktop (it's the generic one).
I have installed GOW (I really love gow) and started playing. The game is much faster than before, it hasn't crashed but something is wrong with graphics: dialog boxes (for quick match, for choosing commander's skill while leveling etc) are all messed up, I can barely see anything. It's not playable, I can't do anything in commander section.
No idea where it went wrong. Era's icon was bad from the get-go.
Maybe I mess up era instalation?

Well, era comes with a mod manager. So you should get an icon on your desktop which opens the mod manager. In this tool you set mods on/off.
I suspect a bad install, so better you take a screen of your mod manager open, then a screen of your Heroes III folder (all the list) then post both images here. (upload them first to imageshack or else)

Looks ok, except that saved games should go in a folder "games", never in root folder. Are you able to play H3 normally? (without era I mean)
It looks to me your Heroes install is weird. games should not be a root folder, but a subfolder.
Also you should check the GoW option in Wog options, after opening the game. Then if some problems during play, as slow or mouse problems, change some parameters in heroes.ini file.
Like
UseOnlyOneCpuCore=0
Change it to 1 if was 0 and viceversa.
Install also Wog revised mod and place it in mod manager just above WoG mod.

well, when they were installed in program files, they had a subfolder 3do.
I installed them somewhere not in program files and now it looks like this.
I told u I'm not good at this computer stuff
Should I change this and how? Where to put them then?
