I must really be lucky then, both on XP and Win 7 I never experienced any problems, game runs smoothly. I didn't even check XP compatibility.

I've moved away from Windows 10 to Linux for about half a year now. Never got around to test Era 2.7.4 on Win 10, but I do know 2.7.3 worked just fine for me on that version of Windows.

I had some problems with ERA a few years back on my old computer - it would crash on startup with similar errors.

One day I finally tried on a different machine and it worked no problem. I figured I had done something wrong on my old computer so I tried to reinstall - same result: crash during startup.

Finally I had an idea: I copy pasted the files from the second computer to the first computer and magically it started working. I never figured (or bothered to) why it was so but apparently installation can be the problem.

So follow all the installation tips (install directly to main hard drive - not /.../program files/, run as Admin, XP compatibiltiy, ...) and if all else fails, maybe someone nice can archive their ERA installation for people with problems to try that.

I did that, step by step, three times.

Full Era 272 installed and working (1GO!). No mods except WoG and Yona. HD mod already installed.

On my system, for sure. Someone who can't get its era working,  try and tell me if worth the effort.

Something is working, the original Era.exe but I get the same error with  HD_Laucher. No features to split army and so on.

I avoided like crap win 10, kept XP as long as possible and when support expired want to win 7 and will stay to it.

Well, just like XP Win7 will also become obsolete at some point... Linux is the answer.

Those are two different things, not being able to split army is not an error, you just have to properly setup HD. But does HD launcher start ERA, then? Because your post is confusing.

When I try to launch from HD_launcher it gives me the usual error: Lua.dll is missing. However, it points to a patch that doesn't exist.

Hello! I am new here, and I have a problem. I have been using ERA 2.46 for a very long time, until I tried to install HD mod and it was very laggy and it wouldn't even show game dialogs (not even spellbook). I updated to ERA 2.7.3 and got the same problem plus another one. The game has no music. It has all sound effects (like moving creatures etc) but no music (like main menu and battle). This is a problem both with and without HD mod. I then updated to ERA 2.7.5 and with HD mod it is less laggier, but still unplayable. And it still has that sound problem which I never had with ERA 2.46. Any help?

I just tried it and gave me the same fatal error after several months of play as in ERA WOG .... but it's a great gameplay

It is said that new Spellbook look was available in ERA 2.6.6. In ERA 2.7.5 there's old, normal version. What happened with this fresh look?

I don't think Era ever changed it, as it uses the mod system. Bigger spellbook

HD mod does not change it too?

I may be wrong but I guess that look is new, at least I opened some previous save and is quite different.

Came a full circle with ERA II

So I decided to give it another go with installing ERA II, but nothing worked because something was missing. Then I got a bit fed up and tried go for WOG 3.58f, which has this ridicilous request of having everything USA english. And that's something that I have done but the installer keeps demanding this. On top of that, my HD loader stopped working (it doesen't show up when I click on it). So I pretty much boned myself worse than last time *sarcastic clap* (Yay to me)

Anyway, is there any way to fix this mess without losing any saved files?

Which ERA version do you use, the newest 2.75? Also forget about WOG, it's all included in ERA. Just do a clean install over SoD.
Sometimes it helps to start the era.exe in win XP compatibility mode.
For your saves just backup the save folder and maybe your WoG settings.
