RedDawn, I still have win XP so I can not say for sure what to do with other. Anyway, you should search online how to enable administrator rights, so you can tell your computer to let you overwrite anywhere, including Program Files folder.
Because there is some security on win 7 and higher which prevent you doing so.

Just uninstall the game, and install it again into C:
I have it installed in win 7 x64, on my laptop, and it works like a charm.

That's what I did Februarius, and the game does run like a champ. So I went ahead and downloaded Era 2 again. Then I also downloaded HoL3.2 again and put it in my mods manager and everything looks fine and the game isn't in program files, yet the mod still doesn't work. Any ideas? HoL3.2 works with HoMM3 Complete, right? I can't see why it wouldn't. I really do appreciate the help by the way.

Did you installed this:
***IMPORTANT***
All my mods need the New Objects patch v1.9 to work (for the campaigns and tutorial maps).
This is from the HOL thread.
Also have you tried other mods? This beast looks to unbalanced for me, to much new content for my taste.
My personal recomendetation is Phoenix mod (kudos to the author), best mod for hmm3 imho. It aims to improve game mechanics rather then importing to much new and unbalanced content. I can't imagine playing another hmm3 game without it.

I didn't download it because I understood it as it was only required for campaigns and tutorials, but I will try it. I'm more than willing to try phoenix if it is as good as you say it is.

Just be sure to read the manual if you decide to try it.

Thanks
By the way the New Objects Patch didn't work, but it was a great idea.
Hey do these mods work for Heroes 3 Complete? Because that is what I play...

Yes Era 2 + mods work for hmm3 complete.
You did run era.exe after installing mods?

Wow I can't believe I would forget that, I must be more tired than I realize. Could you do me a huge favor and tell me where it is? Because I'm trying to type a 9 page essay due tomorrow.

You should have Era II shortcut on your desktop, if not you can find h3era.exe in your Heroes 3 folder.

I have the era start menu shortcut, but there is not a era 2 shortcut or h3era.exe in any folder or anything similar in the shortcut. Would it be called something else?

Ok, I know that I've done some pretty dumb stuff when it comes to this. But I just reinstalled Era 2 for the second time and I'm not getting the h3era.exe folder anywhere.
Anyone got an idea? Thanks for the help.

I clicked on it, but nothing happens. Because it tries to path to h3era.exe which I believe I have but it won't install for some reason.
I have a application called "installmod" and when I try to run the application all that come up is a box that says:
---------------------------
---------------------------
Program.exe [ModPath]
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
I'm pretty sure that that is the h3era.exe file but it won't install properly. Do you happen to know why?

h3era.exe is not folder it is executable file for starting the game.
It has ''eye'' icon, should be in your main game folder.
It looks like you messed up your installation. In what folder did you installed ERA II?
When you start era installation you must select main hmm3 folder!
For example mine is C:\Heroes III
So when asked where to install ERA II select main folder of heroes game. After that two shortcuts appear on desktop. Era Start Menu and Era II. You choose Era II for playing the game. You sholud also see h3era in your main heroes folder now.

Yes I know, I installed it to my heroes folder and I get two shortcuts on my desktop. On is Era II and the other is Era Start Menu. But when I click on the Era II shortcut, it just tells me that it can't locate the h3era.exe file. What file did you install Heroes 3 to? (i.e. program files).

This is a terrible waste of time and energy. You have been TOLD where to NOT install Heroes but you keep doing same then asking things already answered.

It was just an example, my game is not in program files, sorry. It was just the first thing that came to my head, my game is NOT in program files. I have it in saved games. If you could still tell me what file you downloaded it to that would be nice.

RedDawn, if you moved Era folder from original location, the link on the desktop became invalid. Then you have to manually go to Heroes folder in Explorer and run h3era.exe from it.

No, I never move it and I never get the h3era.exe file when I download Era 2 is what I'm trying to say. I just get an application called installmod (which I think may be the h3era.exe file) and a few other applications that are a part of that mod, but it just says program.exe [ModPath] when you run it.
