Not exactly. There were reasons unrelated to the game that delayed the initial patches and ultimately caused months of silence. With those complications out of the way the game is back on track hence the monthly patching plan. The content may not seem like much - they are small patches after all - since they are dealing with bug fixing and some missing features. May seem like too little too late but we are finally getting somewhere, if you cannot wait I'm sorry that things came to be this way.

You are such a positive dude
The problem for me is not the time they take to make patches or the problems they have/had (which are understandable) but rather the different route they have taken with HOMM, aka the "casual route" and the unstable system they made and are working on.
Unless they take a U turn it's gonna take 1 year just to get the client to be stable (and possibly conflux), then another year minimum to deliver enough content to match other HOMM games.
They could ditch the whole and just work on H7, using a stable client and doing more content but that would imply admitting H6 was a fail and they most likely won't do that.
They'll prolly add a couple expansions before that, which means no H7 until 2014-2015 at least.
I just wish devs were humble and objective enough to say "Ok guys, with H6 we tried something new and it was a flop. We'll start working on H7 now with a different client and smooth code. Sorry about the inconvenience.".

While I was happy myself to see that they were finally starting up communication, but... well, since that happy little update, they've gone back to total radio silence again. While I agree that they should be given the benefit of the doubt, at least until their own deadline for 1.3 passes, I am still quite worried about what'll come next, given their singularly appalling track record of late.

Maybe because they are working on 1.3 still As soon as we can post something we will, hopefully something more personal than a facebook update..

Oh yes. Like I said, I'm not complaining. Yet. But they've instantaneously assumed full radio silence again after that happy little announcement, and given their past, it just worries me.
I feel somewhat justified

imo heroes6 was pretty fail, some ppl are happy that they've announced 5 more patches, but judging the amount of content 1.3 is planned to have, i'm not optimistic about how much the next 4 will do to fix the game, and remember by the time patch 1.7 should be rolling around, this game will already be 10 months old, with how many bugs this game still has right now, it'll prob still be incomplete by that point
one of the biggest disappointments is mod support, i remember in one of the q&a's prior to release, they literally said it was their "objective" to support modding, well guess what, 5 months after the game has been released that's nowhere in sight, modding heroes5 was easier even tho they had no direct plans to support it

My M&M:H6 has been collecting dust for the past 3 months at least (in any case since before the release of SW:ToR), maybe even 4, which is also the reason I am in a semi-lurker mode here at the moment. I played it through once, fully, and was starting a second run but decided to hold out until after they fixed the most glaring bugs. I am still waiting and actually more or less lost hope they will do anytime soon. I lost all confidence in UbiSoft, in any case.
Like others said, Diablo3 is around the corner and SW:ToR still has loads of entertainment value for me, so they're going to have to do something massive to get me back to M&M:H6 again. Maybe it'll happen with the first expansion, if it ever comes.

And you forgot Guild Wars 2 yeah this was a bad moment to make big mistakes in the gaming industry...

Idk if they can compete with new games at all. H6 is a followup game... a 6'th sequel if you will. So to compete, it would have to be:
a.) Something completly new and never-before seen - loads of new mechanics added into game to attract new players (the ones that didn't like previous stuff)- that would mean loss of some old fans ofc. Or...
b.) Same game as before just with more features, so that it would feel like a direct upgrade of previous titles. Nothing of old should be taken away, but new stuff just added with minimum changes. This would not attract new ppl, but would keep all the old fans. Old fans would just "upgrade" from H5 to H6. (This is philosophy of Starcraft and Diablo).
Unfortunatley Ubi didn't go either way. They wanted both, but you can't have both. If you strive for both you only get a litle of each, wich is not good. They changed some things, but not nearly enough to be "revolutionary". That won't do. Successfull companies know this and have learn to take either of these choices. Ubi did it right in the past, when they dug up Prince of Persia. With Sands of time (wich was great game) they clearly went with option a.), and made it.
This is the ultimate reason why H6 is not the game it could be

To be perfectly frank, I find the ultimate reason why Heroes VI isn't the game it could be not those decisions, though you do have a good few points there.
The ultimate reason is the fact that it was an appallingly bug-riddled mess, resembling an alpha more than a retail product, which was compounded by the fact that communication from UbiSoft can't really be measured by postcount, but rather by "words per month". And you'd never get out of single digits.
EDIT: Please note that on april 1st I will start complaining about this, because it IS becoming silly.

March patch didn't happen, but I guess they were too busy with the april fool concept art to do trivial stuff such as fixes.

Now i agree that it is pathetic thats right ubi pathetic thats what it is, and eventho they stated more communication and a march patch and failed on both on the FIRST promised patch (of that statement).
but i doubt it is in any way related to concept art because well unless you make programmers draw concept art but that is verry unlikely.
but i repeat again pathetic ubisoft how you have been handling things.

They have their reasons. It probably doesn't matter to their customers who don't give a damn about them having problems but it's not exactly "slacking".
Either way, the whole development process of H6 was a bit flawed, but still it will evolve in a great title... I'm starting to dislike the idea of big expansion packs, it makes games waste of time to play at 1st release because they are like maybe 50% of what they will be three years after..
