SoD how did they do it...
I wonder... How did they ban spellbook for Yog? How did they put Gem to be a Soceres? Anyone know an answer?

This can be done with assembly knowledge and using WoG/ERA capabilities.

Yog was able to use the spellbook in the later campaigns though and they changed his portrait to the regular one. I don't think they've explained why the character decided to use magic again.
Gem a Sorceress was a really nice touch and a nod to Heroes II.

It just so strange to get one hero without spells and then make him normal again. Not to mention that his speciality in his 'no magic' campaign is Chain Lightning...

Yog is strong anti-magic, 5-100% resistance, the game speed, and the attacker. Yes Yogcan do magic, but what?
Gem is a boring, water story, but I consider Gem figure, I something use Gem on my game maps.

They should have made Yog stay like that in the whole game, not just for one campaign. And Gem is a Soceres for one campaign too! Strange...

I liked those special portraits for Gem and Yog better than their originals.
For Yog, the way I see it is that yeah he decided to give up magic and place more emphasis and interest in might and tactics, but he did spend a lot of his younger days being forced or expected to learn magic, so it would make sense that he would have some knowledge in that. Thus later on after leaving to Krewlod and becoming a barbarian, he would still have the knowledge of spells from his past.
For Gem, if you read the story throughout the campaign it explains why she changes to druid and she discovers that druids are very much like sorcs.

But why can Yog use magic later (a big mistake), and how can there be a Socceres in HoMM3?
