The thing is that there are real differences between gender and religion, but not between races.
So a decision to make something exclusively for a certain race is considered racist. I don't think, anyone had a problem with a blue-eyed hotel only, but since the querstion of skin colour has been a prominent one, it's always suspicious.
On the other hand, where there are REAL differences, catering for a special clientel in a special way is just usual and normal business practise.

This is just hotels catering (and charging) for a specific preference. As the article says, its to do with the boom in female business travel. The hotels are just finding a way to get more money out of the clientele.
Some hotels are children friendly, providing playrooms, gardens etc ... meals blah blah. This is just the same thing.
I guess for some business women, the typical corporate stay in hotels surrounded by middle aged salesmen all having a good time .... drink, getting rowdy, sport obsessed antics and talk ... has meant she would rather stay in a hotel where there is some privacy and solitude from that behavior (and she is prepared to pay for it).
It will last for as long as business women are prepared to pay for it. And lets be honest, these women and their corporate accounts can afford it

Quote: There are already lots of businesses that cater exclusively to one gender or the other.
Tanning and nail salons.
Barbers ans shaving boutiques.
Clothing stores.
Shoe stores.
Cosmetics stores.
Adult video stores.
And so on.
Last time I checked, I was allowed to walk into a nail salon.
Women were allowed to have their beard shaven too.
You quite often see men in clothing and shoe stores. Cosmetics at sometimes too.
And sex shops are more popular around women than they are for men.
None of those are exclusive, if they didnīt allow women to walk into the store, now thatīd be somewhat comparable to this discussion.

Yep. If the hotel had a male only floor instead of a female only floor lots of liberals would be screaming "Misogyny!" Or if a woman walked into a porn shop and was told to leave because it is for males only.
I'll bet if a gay man went into a nail salon and was refused service because he is a male those same people would scream "Homophobe!"
The political correctness factor is in play.

Well, what do I know, but the thing is that a sizable percentage of the female population is thankful for an area where they don't have to put up with the attentions of the other gender.
Of course I could be wrong, but strangely enough I'd say that the percentage is not nearly as big the other way round.
Political correctness? Maybe. However, I don't think anyone has a problem with Elodin or others demanding a man-only area in hotels.

I guess that the post I quoted above bothers me for a few reasons, but it may be off-topic to mention that... could we discuss this over the messenger? It's not that I disagree with your conclusion, but the steps that you seem to be taking to get to it, and I would like to clarify a few things with you and try to get the right picture.
