Actually, it's the opposite problem.
It's like a bunch of old-school developers that never bothered to learn more modern methods of coding.
"No, no, I'm pretty sure we can't render bold. You'd have to, like, print every line of text three times, each time with a one- or two-pixel displacement, and...what? You mean there's an html code for that now? No, no, don't tell me what it is, I can't be bothered to learn such a complicated string of code..."

I registered just to express my outrage at their blatant nonsense.
To claim that H6 was a success is an affront to reality, an insult to the gaming industry and all the gamers.
It honestly makes my blood boil that they have the nerve to say such things.

There is a commercial success and there's a successful game. Ubi was referring to the former, don't worry as we've beaten it into their heads how badly they have messed up.

"Generally a success" = we got our money back + some profit. They don't really care if you find it successful.

The only reason for that being people who barely research before buying.
Ubisoft are so annoyingly smug you really can't help but wish to gnaw their faces off.
It's like "oh we managed to lure enough suckers to get this project out of the red, clearly a success".

Well, it's a success of sorts, even though I'd never mention something like that in public. Then again, their PR people dealing with Heroes are hardly the sharpest tools in the shed so one just can't set his expectations too low.

Comments on Q&A:
Sim turns won't be amongst the patches, so should be part of an expansion together with new factions....similar to H5 Tribes....
Vast majority of Heroes fans are Single Player Hmmm....this is quite a conflict of interest because using the Dynasty traits/weapons requires constant internet connection, something single players are very much against.....
Town screens 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio is a poor if not invalid reason for boxed town windows....who (gamers) still uses 4:3 aspect ratio (CRT monitors)? Nonetheless, H5 didn't have this issue, town screens worked well on 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios.....
Town screens similar to H3 Great news! Loved the interaction in H3 town screens, this together with (hopefully) all the right buttons to build, recruit (ease-of-access) looks promising....

The former is actually a loan on future titles, though. After this fiasco, I will most certainly not pre-order the next title the moment it becomes available, but I will wait until I read the reviews and see they're positive. Otherwise, I will skip it.
Had they delivered a solid game, I would not have doubted pre-ordering the next title.

Same here. The "success" of H6 lived on the past titles for most of us, who blindly pre-ordered/bought it with little facts and lot of promises.
If H7 will ever come, I WON'T buy it until diamond sure of its great worth.
This Q&A in my opinion has sharp questions and very unsatisfying answers. I understand it must be hard for them to justify some incredible lies and fails like the promised "user-friendly map editor" or the "new greatly balanced skill system".

So why did you preorder? Why not wait for the release to come and a few gameplay videos to surface before making the decision?
Reviews are incredibly bad as a way of judging a game and so is good will. Always assume the devs will screw it up instead. Be wary and you won't lose money or wrongly line the pockets of those like Ubisoft.

Like I said, I pre-ordered the CE version of the game, because HoMM V was a pretty solid game. Admittedly, this was after TotE, but I pretty naively assumed that UbiSoft would have taken the lessons it learned from HoMM V and take that to build the next version on top of that elevated level. Apparently, I was wrong, they started back down from a very base level.
So Ubisoft fooled me once, shame on them. I will not be fooled twice, then the shame would be on me.

If anyone is interested, I asked the M&M twitter 3 more questions:
Q1. Any plans on tweaking the Ai to make it more difficult/less cheat to win?
A. AI: it won't be really changed. The general balance will be improved though!
Q2. Any chance of adding anti-aliasing in game options? To get rid of jagged character edges to make it prettier?
A. Anti-aliasing: not pretty soon as there are some technical constraints making it not so easy to implement
Q3 Are the devs working on more official Ubisoft maps to play online with or a random map generator that can be used online?
A. It is something we are working on, so hopefully it will come pretty soon!

First off, thank you Elvin for the initiative. I agree, it is helpful to hear at least that something is being done. I also agree, there is much to be done.
However, I tend to disagree with comments about the editor, and that is my main reason for creating an account here. I'm hoping to post a map next weekend, and would like all feedback possible. However, that is still to come.
For now, I think that players are not looking very carefully at the maps they play. You can't think that you'll click "Cliff" and "River" a few times and get a result like the first mission of the haven campaign. You can't just pop a few numbers into an rmg and have "Heart of Nighmares" come out. The visuals of the game are stunning, and as a long-standing fan of the series, I have to say that I think exploring is finally fun again. I missed that feeling in HOMM IV and V.
As a mapmaker I have to say that after using this iteration of the editor, I do not wish for a more dumbed down version either. Heroes III was a two dimensional game, it follows that the editor was far simpler. In this case there is so much going on in the background, that you have to have a large number of controls to deal with them.
And once you get going, it's really not that complicated. It IS time consuming, but arguably it takes a good deal of time to come out with a good map in any game.
So those are a few thoughts on the editor from my perspective. Hopefully you'll check out the map later this week (next week if I can't figure out underground). Cheers

I have prepared another Q&A mostly focused on the evolution of H6 gameplay and some storyline bits that were left vague or unexplained. Is there anything specific you would like to know? I'll keep mine as a surprise

Whether they have plans to get more community feedback before implementing features. Such as the town screens, if they release them early to community websites, they could see what peoples opinions are and if they need to make any changes

I'd like to know what they got in store in terms of re-playability.
With skill builds beings fairly identical, what will make you play the same faction/hero more than once or twice, unless it is "the über cookie cutter build"?
