Hm, okay. I actually did manage to defeat Ordwald (and his entire side), but I think I took too long. In Ordwald's territory, in the southwest, there's a subterranean gate that leads to a small alcove. Is that where the Vial is normally?
I broke through the green border guard sometime in the middle of month 3. I guess that's too late. When I finally confronted Ordwald about a month later, the numbers were crazy -- he had something like a legion of trogs, and I had about 2/3 his numbers. I only won through copious use of Armageddon.
Fortunately, Town Portal is in the mage guild for one of his towns. I think I'm going to restart and just barrel through as fast as possible with nothing but minotaurs and black dragons, just spamming Armageddon, and getting through the green gate as fast as possible. I think the mistake I made was camping out in the area before the green gate, partially because I was worried there were other heroes around.

The vial is actually through a dungeon gate to the northwest, and behind a quest guard - a lot of dragons have to be fought to get through there, and in a particular order due to quest guards. Middle of month 3 is when I was about to defeat the last enemy hero. I don't think any of the other enemy heros are as potent as Ordwald, they may not be completely trivial but are fairly defeatable.
The alcove to the southwest holds a random artifact or two, based on comparing a couple of starts. It's pretty hard to beat Ordwald to that one (but not necessary). In the game I played, it held the boots of speed, which explains why I wasn't able to intercept him on open ground but had to confront him in a castle.

to buy an army, the hero can also use the rent hero which can be followed (Air view) through Ordwald, trying to circumvent the many dungeons around the Town Portal using. I do not remember much, have to go to Naga something that can be rented hero to use only 1+1 black dragons, if the quest hut calls, easy 1+1 black dragon vs neturals for fleeing.

Ah, thank you! I hadn't seen that passage -- I was sure I had explored the map completely. The dragons were easy enough to defeat by the time I got to them. I have completed the scenario at last.
By the way, do you think it's worthwhile to add walkthroughs for the AB campaigns to the main site, or would it be too little, too late by this point?

By someone who plays them perfectly and fast, of course. A walkthrough must show the top options.

I've read through these posts and I don't know why but I just do not remember doing this one.
I know that I've done all the AB campaigns though.
I think I remember Ordwald having a very large army, but I don't remember what I did, or if I even fought him. Do you have to fight Ordwald in this map or can you just win by finding the artifact?
I'm quite sure that I probably went with earth magic for mutare and not water, and I don't go with ballistics for dungeon heroes with dragon specialty (Mutare or Tarnum).

good evening
I have played that map days ago When I entered enemy's territory I had enough army and defeated him easily. First at all I had ressu and dragon shield at the start. Choose 1 red dragon as starting bonus. First day build recruit one scout, build all beholder building and recruit all monsters and give them to mutare. Then mutare visit light blue tent and scout visit mines. Then mutare head west and defeat blue and after that you are alone so you don't need to worry about enemy's heroes. After you got 2nd town, head west, open the guard and capture dragon's cave and build portal in both towns. This can be done before 3rd week After this never visit other creature dwellings and if you need sulphur build resource silo in both towns. This way you will get bunch of dragons which are enough to slay ordwald

I did find a set of walkthroughs at the following location:

However, while I might find a quick view of the maps to be useful, I haven't found the advice in the walkthroughs per se to be all that useful.
For myself, I certainly would not qualify as playing them perfectly and fast. Reading some other posts here, I can get close to their times on some of the later maps, but I can rarely move as quickly on the early ones. I'm happy to provide advice when it seems like someone is having problems that I either did not encounter, or that I found a way to overcome, though.
When is the last time any updates were added to the main sections of the site, anyways?
