I know this is an older thread, but I would like to throw my two cents in there.
Assuming I am a lab mouse trained to run the maze, that is what I would do, for it is what the training I have been subjected to has made me into.
If though, I was a "wild" mouse put in the situation I would be inclined to find food, most likely by chewing through the maze walls, if food supply was replenished then I would nest in the maze and it would eventually turn me into a tame mouse. It would effectively break me. However if food was not replenished, then I would seek an escape, to get free and find more food, find a mate, make a nest, etc. For that is what my genetic programming drives me to do/be.
However if it was my mind inside of a mouse body, with reduced faculties factored in. I would seek the food, then seek a way out, possibly trying to use any means to escape, like my teeth and claws, and bite any "person born out of wedlock" dumb enough to try and touch me. Because? Rage is my driving force, it is what makes me who I am, and even at a diminished capacity it still keeps me going.
Looking at it you could even shorten that into:
Social Programming.
Animalistic Tendencies.
Personal Choice*.
*Clarification: I can't quite think of the right term, but this will have to suffice for now, PC is not right though, because it is possible to override PC with SP, and it doesn't really deal with the whole point.
