Quote: And anyway, you know the layout of your house better than a burglar does. If you hear someone moving around when they shouldn't be, you grab your gun from under your bed or from your desk, approach slowly, and point the gun at them.
This is very funny. No, literally, I would laugh hard in your face, no offense it screams "I've never been attacked by anyone" all over the place. So let me enlighten you.
There's a few things you're missing:
1. You're alone. Home-breaking, at least in my country, is done by multiple men. You're not Chuck Norris or John Rambo.
2. Your strategy depends on you hearing something. Sucessful robbers don't wake you up or slit your throat in your sleep, in case they even bother robbing your house when you're there (usually they do it when you're away). Even a minigun won't help here.
3. Do you really think organized bands of people robbing houses are so dumb to blindlessly stroll through your home until they wander at your gunsight? Houses are scouted before robbery. That doesn't mean people going in and out for tests, it simply means observation. Mainly of your habits which can prove fatal.
4. It's safe to consider that if the attackers also have guns (and why wouldn't they? spare me the Police-will-arrest-them nonsense... in a country where you can legally kill them in your home, the least to worry about is whether they get a higher sentence when caught... lol), they probably also have them ready, assuming they know you're home and are not brain dead retards. Now, what if they have better reflexes? Better hearing? an armed companion nearby? Too much risk, son. I wouldn't put my life on something as random as bullet exchange at close range with unknown numbers of robbers. It's not even 50:50, the odds are simply against you.
Also, watch less crappy movies where the shotgun-armed guy (more often: a woman in underwear only) strolls around the house because he has been woken up by strange noises and then, successfully kills the single, unarmed and retarded invader, which is completely oblivious of the fact he can be shot on sight.
So much for liberty when the option it grants is simply useless

I do not benefit from any sort of military protection.

I really wonder how a UNITED states of America could ever have happened if nowadays we mostly see them as people who only look for themselves.
Except...when there are some terrorists who do an awful thing and kill thousands of people living in 2 towers....then we hear "WE have been attacked", even though, people of Wyoming haven't had any contact with those things, but still America went to war with money, people from Wyoming spent as taxes. Funny / Sad but true.
It is not right to just pull the "WE"-card at times YOU need it. This card either counts always...or never.
But you won't learn that in a week...it takes some time. Mostly it needs something sad to happen to be convinced...Funny / Sad but true...

People in the US have traditionally had an attitude of "people helping people." NOT the government stealing money from citizens to redistribute it to others who "don't have enough." Americans have traditionally had an attitude of rugged individualism. Believing they should stand on their own two feet instead of leeching off of others.
However, the attitudes are changing some, as liberals have had control of the public education system for a while and generations have been raised under the welfare nanny state ideas. Some people now have the idea that everyone else owes them a good living and that anyone who has more money than they do is an evil and perverse person who oppressed others to get it.
I was raised in poverty and worked my way out. Too many people want to sit on the couch drinking beer and eating sweets while demanding others provide for them. The founding fathers were wise in saying that the poor should not be made comfortable in their poverty or they have little motivation for doing better for themselves.

Prices are not same, Doom. With 1000-1300 euros, you are very poor in Europe.

Well, in 1000 euro you're still poor in Poland it takes two salaries and a huge loan to buy a tiny 30-40 square meters flat, and you have to pay it off for about 30-40 years.
1 square meter of flat in Warsaw costs 2500 euro

Exept that the price of appartments is so strongly related to average income of a country. A better comparison is food supplies, electricity (talking about the current of it not actual televisions and all that ), water or education costs for example.
You could work for one year over here and live for atleast 5-7 years in Poland.

Bourgeois amateurs. The minimal salary in Bulgaria is 150 euro and the average around 200-250 outside the capitol.

You don't exaggerate a little, do you? There is no reason bulgarians are more retarded than romanians, and sources say average income is same, between 300 and 350 euros.

That's why I said outside the capital. A typical job in the capital pays 50-100% better than the same thing in the province. Problem is that some 65% of the people are living and working in the province. The prices on the other hand (at least the prices of the most important products) are pretty similar everywhere, save the most impoverished regions. So there you go.

Interesting, in France prices are 100% higher in capital, but same salary as everywhere. Living in capital is much harder.

Let's see...
bread +/- 1 euro
cheeseburger in mcdonald 0.8 euro
electricity - 0,12 euro per kilowatt-hour
education - "free". Paid from retardedly high taxes, that is.
Laptops, TVs, Computers, consoles = ~20% more expensive than in Germany (yes, more).
