They went through. Alive. In one piece. This was surprising. It also meant that if they get in trouble now, they'll have armed guards behind them.
Rincewind put down the crate with the rest of the cargo and looked for an unguarded way to the yacht's owner's quarters.

Tristan also looked around for a unguarded pathway to the quarters. He also hoped that, should they find one, the owner wouldn't be within. He also wished there was someone nearby that they could 'accidentally' bump into the water. That would help make a distraction, should they also manage to slip away.

Mat and Broïndur:
Broïndur cracks open the crates while Mat advances up the ladder.
((Broïndur: ))
You have opened up the first of the crates and found them to be full of food—ship's biscuit and salted pork, and shockingly still edible. Fresh, even, or at least as fresh as these sorts of things ever are. There is also surprisingly little dust over the crates.
Midway through your exploration you hear a whip of rope moving very quickly from up the ladder and a crash! as something heavy slams into the floor.
((Mat: ))
You've just put your foot down onto the floor of the next deck when it suddenly goes flying out from under you, and you find yourself yanked into the air. A heavy sack goes flying past you into the lantern light below, where it crashes into the floor. With the lantern still on the deck beneath you there is very little illumination, but you can faintly make out movement in the darkness, and you can clearly hear the hollow clanking of bones coming closer...
((You're suspended by your foot BTW.))
----------------
Rincewind and Tristan:
From what you can see of the top deck, the only room of note is the oversized captain's quarters; the rest of the deck is open, with a pair of ballistae on the port and starboard sides of the ship and an opening into the hold midship. The crew of the Turquoise Bay is exchanging crates here; apparently they aren't trusted any further into the ship. A pair of guards is stationed at the door to the captain's quarters, looking alert; a second pair is split and patrolling the deck at intervals ((as in, there are two of them, but they're patrolling separately if that isn't clear)). Most of the crew is involved with the loading and unloading from the Turquoise Bay, but you can see a man up in the crow's nest—even from where you're standing he looks bored.

"It does not look all too promising that we accomplish our goal as it is. Get ready to slip away. I will create a distraction for you."
Tristan picked up the crate again, turning to take it mid-ship. He trips, however, during the turn, and stumbles to the side further from where they boarded. He dropped the crate on the deck, and fell over, screaming out very loudly til he made contact with the water below.

Rincewind and Tristan:
Tristan's scream cuts off as his mouth abruptly fills with water. The ocean muffles more that the impression of noise coming up from above him, but Rincewind is able to clearly overhear the cries of "Man overboard!" as the deck becomes a flurry of confusion. Both guards on patrol rush over to the side Tristan fell off of and one starts uncoiling a rope to throw down. A few of the sailors join them. A quick glance up also shows the man in the crow's nest to be thoroughly distracted, but while the guards standing watch at the captain's quarters are looking Tristan's way they haven't left their post.

Tristan, though a little out of practice with rope climbing, manages to eventually get on board the yacht again, with the assistance of the crew. In the process, he gives the craft a kick, attempting to make it look like a natural action, due to his swaying. The toe of his footwear separates from the sole.
"Sorry about that," he says, halfway grinning. He looks down at the shoe he gave the yacht a kick with. "I guess I need to get some new boots."

Broïndur was surprised to say the least, when he found 'fresh' supplies in the crate. Never one to pass an oppertunity when it rears, Broïndur quickly stuffed a strip of salted pork in his mouth. The cured meat tasted suprisingly well, which probably accounted for how hungry he was.
He opened a few more, a bit more gently this time, not wanting to get any wood splinters into possible food and found them all to contain shiprations. And shoveled some of the rations into the box he carried on his back.
That was when he heard the whipping sound and the crash. Broïndur grunted with a mouthfull of more pork and turned around to see where the sound came from. Updecks, probably. So Broïndur grabbed the lantern and went to see what happened. It quickly turned out to be Matt suspended from his foot by a snare.
"Is this how i's gonna be, Matt?" Broïndur said jokingly with his mouth still half-full of pork. "You gettin' inna trouble when I take me eyes off ye, <swallow> cause if so, I'm wantin' a bigger share of the loot. Hehehe" When he chuckled he sprayed some bits of the pork from his mouth. Not waiting for Mats response, Broïndur spotted the sack that suspended his partner in crime and went about trying to cut the rope gently with his surprisingly blunt scimitar.
"Hang on te yer hat, I've nearly cut through this rope."

Broïndur and Mat:
It's about this time that the first pair of skeletons comes into the lantern light. They leap past their helpless prey and swarm downwards to attack the mobile Broïndur, their skeletal limbs descending the ladder with a dexterous agility that would be impossible had they still possessed muscle and sinew. One is armed with a notched longsword and dressed in a few patches of ruined leather around the shoulders that might have been leather at one point, the other is in the rags of a sailor or pirate and wields a length of rope with a heavy hook at the end. Broïndur and Mat can both hear more are coming.

((OoC: A high 2 again?))
Broïndur had almost succeeded in sawing through the rope when the skeletons came down. He uttered an oath in his native Dwarven and abandoned his work. For an instant he hesitated but then he drew his axe with his injured arm, holding the heavier and less balanced scimitar in his better one. As a Thirdling he was at least familiar enough with all types of weapons his tribe knew and he knew well enough how to wield them. Fighting with two weapons was he was well trained in, though this combination was a novelty. He preferred a combination of axe and morningstar.
"Mat, the rope is nearly cutt through. If ye swing about a bit, it may just snap. And if ye do, aim fer one of these b@stards." He called out to his companion.
He took a defensive stance and waited for the skeletons to advance, keeping a slightly keener eye on the one with the rope.

Mat hadn't been dangling worthlessly the entire time, just most of it. Fortunately for the young man, he had some core strength. Unfortunately, he had to free up both of his hands, which meant that he had to drop his Ashendari. "Better idea buddy!" Mat called down, pulling himself up the rope ever so slightly. He was just a bit sore at the hip, knee and ankle, what with the being dragged and dangled by his leg thing and all, but otherwise seemed to be unharmed. One of his knives slid smoothly across the rope still attached to his ankle and the old weave seemed to dissolve under the sharpened blade. It took three slices to actually get through it, and about a foot of rope dangled down once he was done. Mat started to rock back and forth, sheathing his knife and aiming himself at one of the skeletons, the pirate. "One, two, three, four, fi-" Mat was cut off in mid swing as the rope snapped. "Mother's milk in a-!"
At least he ended up landing on his target.

Broïndur and Mat:
((A low 2 since there's only two of them at the moment, but there are four more on the way which will push this over a 3 once they arrive.))
The skeleton Mat lands on shatters underneath him—though having landed from rather high up onto what is now a bed of bone splinters, Mat isn't uninjured by this feat and comes up with bruised shins and bloody knees. Just in time, as it turns out, as a long pole swings through the air where he'd been hanging. Another pair of skeletons is visible at the top of the ladder; one in tattered robes wielding the quarterstaff, the other in sailor's garb with an ordinary hammer ((as in the kind you pound nails with, not a warhammer)).
The skeleton remaining of the first pair, meanwhile, manages to fling the hook and rope around the axe, fouling it. It yanks Broïndur's arm forward and claws at his wrist with its sharp, boney fingers.

While Tristan is distracting the crew, Rincewind steps away. He looks over the options available. While the captain's quarters would be a grand destination to hurry in and out of, the guards standing by were far from a grand obstacle. The man in the crow's nest didn't seem anything to worry about. It seemed the best option available would be the hold. But what if Tristan's distraction didn't last long enough? What if the crew went back to their routine, how would he escape? Well, the distraction certainly wouldn't last long enough if he just stood around thinking about it. With that thought, he decided to do his best to sneak into the hold.

Tristan and Rincewind:
Rincewind manages to sneak into the hold successfully; it's dark and there are boxes stacked everywhere—mostly supplies from the looks of things.
Meanwhile Tristan is escorted off the boat by some of the crew and taken over to the inn to dry off. Looking around once he's seated, he sees Fandral snoozing up at the bar...he also sees Jason Steelarm—out of the yacht's brig, it seems—boasting and drinking at a table nearby. The screen of sailors has so far kept him from noticing Tristan...so far...

Rincewind trapped alone in a dark hold on a ship with potentially hostile and almost certainly vicious guards. (why else would someone employ guards if they weren't vicious?) Judging by the relative silence from upstairs, Tristan's distraction has outlived its usefulness and there would be no help in getting out quietly. Could things even get any worse? Yes, Rincewind thought instantly, they could. Which means they will.
Having nothing better to do, Rincewind began carefully going through the boxes to see if he could find anything suspicious or unusual.

Rincewind:
The boxes and barrels are tightly sealed, and it takes a good amount of effort (not to mention noise) to open some of them—all for nothing, as most of what Rincewind finds is ship's biscuit, beans, and other foodstuffs, as well as some pitch and sailcloth.

Jason's reflexes must be slowed by the alcohol on his breath, as it takes him a second to recognize you. Then he leaps to his feet in a rage, knocking the stool he was sitting on over. His friends nearby barely manage to restrain him. "Why you little ****ing thief!"
The sailors who brought you mostly haven't noticed anything is amiss, yet, as they're taking the opportunity to buy drinks and the like; all this outburst gets is a few glances from them and some nervous twitching from the innkeeper.

"You there!" the innkeeper, smelling trouble, quickly intervenes by steering you back to the bar and sitting you down. You can see him shooting looks over his shoulder; one of the guards at the door is glancing inside, sees the look and wordlessly re-posts himself inside. Jason's friends notice and a great deal of frantic whispering ensues at that table. "Your sleepy friend here bought you a drink." This he thunks down in front of you with nervous force. "Here you are. And I'll thank you not to be causing trouble in my inn."
