NEWS: Limbic on Patches 1.6 and 1.7
Limbic's Stephan Winter has entered a post on the official forum, giving out some information and also requesting suggestions from the fans. It seems clear that Limbic will keep supporting the game until version 1.7 is released at the end of September.
Quote: Stephan Winter wrote:
(...) the team suggested to let the community decide on which bugs/polishing changes we should work on for 1.7. We have collected a top list of bugs and would like to get your input on what bugs should be fixed with priority.
(...)
Timeframe: We want to start collecting and discussing as of now. We would start to review the new list here at the 23rd of August and work on it for three weeks.

That was never at question but I am glad that Astranor took the time to inform the community and give specifics on what to expect in the near future - And it was about time that those persistent bugs were dealt with. The balancing season has begun once again and we're doing our best to help limbic with suggestions and testing.

Pleasepleaseplease do a UI redesign! Currently, it's confusing and ugly as a hungover Enraged Cyclops, and it lacks the 'magical' feeling of previous HoMMs. (Case in point: 'Spellbook')

Not likely. Will need major manhours, with dubious effects, so I really don't think UBI will do it.

So, according to Limbic post, they won't fix all bugs but just "some", and by end september have already 1.7 out.
Maybe it means that Limbic contract ends in September?
If thats true, then we have several possibilities:
- Ubisoft abandons H6 and moves to H7
- Ubisoft abandons H6 and moves to more crappy spin-offs for some time (with HO as "Heroes game").
- Ubisoft makes another contract with Limbic, and Limbic makes an expansion (with at least 6 months)
- Ubisoft makes extends contract with Limbic to make even more patches and win a bit of time to make the deccision of an expansion.
- Ubisoft has already made/makes a contract with other studio for expansion (highly doubtful)
With the exception of the last possibility, I see the rest really feasible. I'm not sure about the future of H6

My vote will be their efforts focus on making competitive multiplayer more viable. Balance changes and bug fixes that affect game balance.

The first two mentioned possibilities make no sense. If it was ubi's plan to abandon H6 they would have no incentive to spend all those months patching the game or at the very worst they would not bother continuing. I sincerely doubt ubi would do this out of the goodness of their hearts and it seems a very bad investment if they just wanted to sell more adventure packs. And moving on to the spinoffs? That makes even less sense
On a personal note I am annoyed when people start considering H6 a dead game every 1-2 months or so. H6 is being fixed in doses, what did you expect? Do you need a monthly confirmation that the game will not be scrapped? Seriously now it sounds like you are in a relationship with H6 and you are afraid you are going to get ditched any moment now

Someone explain to me: why there is no info on 1.6 patch. I mean you can guess that it will be released somewhere between now and 1.7, but I see no official statement, dates, bug fix list.
Also Elvin. I understand your "the man" close to the source. Although I doubt they've already abandoned the game I don't really see any signs that there will be some additions either. Ubisoft's conference ended without a slightest hint about new content for H6. And I don't suspect that the forums are the only way to announce big game projects...
So, can you honestly say that there is something to it or not?

You may be an insider but it won't be the first time in the Heroes VI development cycle when the insiders don't have all the correct info. Shortly put - Ubisoft is the official source of information and your cryptic, NDA-limited remarks here and there can not substitute this. If you want to convince someone that the game is really being worked on with an expansion in mind, spam Erwan's e-mail or whatever other mean to communicate with him you have with messages that they have to give something definite to the players - with examples and so on. The "it's not certain/finished yet" crap from the past doesn't work. Furthermore, the message from the Limbic manager can be read as "we'll be patching the game until certain point, then it's not up to us any more". Up to who is it then?

"Black Hole" should be revived and given enough money and time in order to make an excellent expansion for "Heroes VI". "Limbic" succeed only in fixing bugs, their town and fort screens are extremely awful, IMO.

WTF!?!? How can you say that? On the contrary, Limbic (at least so far, hope it changes) has failed MISERABLY and TOTALLy in fixing bugs!!!
I am not sure who released 1.3, but I think it wasn't Limbic yet.
Then patch 1.4 had ZERO bugs fixed. Patch 1.5 fixed 1-2 minor obscure bugs, and did not fix any of the major bugs, and introduced 2-3+ NEW bugs! Utter failure - I hope 1.6 is better.
NOTE: Limbic just changed balance and game mechanics mostly, so far. I hope the next patches get better in the BUG fixing respect.

Dunno, so far I'm satisfied with Limbic's work. Just the other day, I booted up H6 and played a bit without anyone or anything forcing me to. Definitely a major improvement, I think.

I think most people fire up the game again after each patch solely because they want to see for themselves what changed. That doesn't exactly mean it's a good thing.

Since they've said that a potential Heroes 7 would use the same engine as H6 I see a very good reason for them to remove bugs and try to balance and polish the game as much as possible to have a more solid foundation for the next iteration. As long as they can sell DLCs and online games in the mean time they can keep this going for a while. If they are planning an expansion there is no way it would be out before 2013.

meh most bugs are so minor you hardly ever notice them
I'd prefer having them work a bit on the balance and that is especially on the skill system.
