Windows 8 and Homm3
Hi Guys,
I installed windows 8 and found out SOD didnt work. So I tried everything like opening firewall, DMZ etc etc, but no chance.
Somehow with same setting HeroesWT works, I really dont understand why but also with installing Windows 8 again I have the same issues.
So just to inform you...windows 8 and SOD seems not to be compatible.
If someone has tips.....Always welcome.
Regards,
TheVinz

You could try:
Right click on the shortcut
-Properties
-Compatibility
- tick runs this program in compatibility mode.
My suggestion.

Win 8 is not good for PCs (or should I say, older PC users), since the new main interface was designed for touchscreens. Tablets & smartphones. It might actually be good on those, but I'd not recommend to install it on a computer as well.
What made you think it'd work on the new platform anyway? It's an old game and some people have problems with it on 7 as well.

Yeah, it's mainly designed for tablets so i really don't see why one would use it for pc. Also I personally hate this metro design
Well, for some people Heroes 3 works flawless on win7 (e.g. me) so I don't see why not to give it a try...

hey guys, just so you know, heroes 3 can work with windows 8. i got it to work by reading this page:
how to get to boot menu, then change your boot setup to accept older versions of software
when you are in your boot menu, find the os, then select the thing that says something about working with previous versions of windows. make sure to select the right one(i used the windows xp service pack 2 version), then your heroes 3 will work fine. i'm guessing that heroes 2 and 1 should work also. you could also go into compatability for your program, and fix it there. i did both, just to make sure. runs fine.
EDIT: I didn't like windows 8 at first. took a little getting used to. now I like it.
