Well, Deth, u don't have these 7 stars for nothing, do u?
Second, I don't think there are so much swearing that should be auto-bleeped, even if there is something like "kiss my ass" (sorry for the word) in a post like beverly crusher, when its included as a joke, it shouldnt be bleeped, since it's not offensive, whoever thinks it's offensive can say it to me here.

what's really offensive
What i find the most aggrivating here on this whole topic is the attitude coming accros here, more than the foul words.
Why should Deth8 spend more of his personal free time reading every post to ensure that words used are not offensive? Being a ToH volunteer/coordinator does not mean that you are there as a personal slave to all who are active within ToH. If you could spend one week working with him in Honour Council you would be amazed at the amount of work he does, and the the time he gives of himself. Same thing applies to Vesuvius, i often see people making angry comments in zone because he didn't reply to solve their problem within 10 minutes.
Perhaps if you think this is a viable solution you could volunteer your own time, rather than expect this of others?
However, wouldn't it be simpler to get yourselves a thesaurus and find another way to express your thoughts? The english language is filled with colourful, tho not offensive words! It could be a wonderful opportunity to broaden your vocabulary

I dodnt mean that.
I didn't mean for Deth to spend his life editing posts.
I ment for it to belike it was before, was there so much swearing so that the moderators worked 24/7? No, not at all, I personally remeber 2-3 cases where moderators edited posts for reasons of offensive context, and u call that a 24/7 work? I think that if we all start being a little more mature we will just use normal words to express ourselves unless sweraing is used as a joke, or to express a feeling that can't be expressed using normal words, and to make it easier, instead of bleeping words, the board should notify moderators in which posts there is swearing, and the moderator would look at it and according to the context will decide whether to censor it or not, and if we all will use some more mature language, I think that moderatos will have to edit posts much less.

I think u guys should ease off players like deth8 or vesuvius the amount of time u spend playing toh games or doing zone or board stuff is probably the same amount of time they spend supporting this board and toh.

I do not understand how you people join SOMEONE ELSES league and expect FREE SPEECH.
There is no such thing as free speech.
This is an organization, subject to the rules of the governing body.
Anyone who does not like the rules is FREE to start their own thing but only the most naive
would demand "free speech" in any organization.
And yes you are also free to complain but really, do it with a little gratitude.
What a bunch of ingrates to join a FREE league then demand that people work harder for them.

I guess those last few posts made sense
Hey, we're all bludgers in one form or another and no-one enjoys taking on extra work. The autoeditor is meant to make life easier for the co-ords but I think people are getting ticked off with its inability to do perform as it was intended.
I think all of us understand the amount of work that goes into this whole TOH thing probably why so few of us offer our free time. I don't know what I'd do without TOH, (I'd probably be playing Monopoly by myself, lol!) and the Honour Council members I have the utmost respect for.
I honestly don't think that the autoeditor is working very well at the moment, it's scope is very limited and wasn't intended to be self-automated. I also think that we're all very mature in (most) regards to swearing and cussing and Deth only has to say the word (no pun intended) and I'll sit damn straight and do as he says. Maybe I'm wrong, I'd like to hear from Deth on this, but on how many occasions have you had to personally edit posts?

well just so u guys know i just started topic for simple reason of drawing attention to it since it was a pain not to get some "emotions" across in a statement or certain points u wanted highlighted not get highlighted because somebody else didn't deem it right
To mel... I already and so do many others know how much of a "lamer nerd" (ask ves about that one thats his terminology) ves is and how much effort he puts into his work atleast at toh, I dont envy him. Deth is the same case with the HC lots of work, maybe too much for him to cope with.
btw lamer nerd was not being insulting but used in the same context as he used it with me in a private conversation

Hmmmmmm, I really cant tell u that im offended by the autoeditor. But thats prolly coz english aint my first language. Hehee, I have trouble enough finding the words without swearing
Why not just laugh at the bleeps, and CalJs im in total agreement that it needs some work, I mean the autoeditor, but I dont really think its that important.
Good idea with the Theasurus Pan, only problem is that I really dont feel like looking up every word I write on this board But yeah ur right, it really do broaden ur vocabulary
And all respect to the people who commits their time to TOH, I can only bow in ( Damn I need a Theasurus, or actually just a Danish-English translator right now )

Time for some new life
I was just browsing through old threads and I stumbled across this one. I remember how good it was to see people's opinions on censorship in the Community and how Deth began to use the autoeditor more and more, although with some rather drastic effects. Things are different now, the autoeditor has been tamed and is now a shadow of it's former self. I even said the word ass in a thread and it didn't get edited!
Having seen the whole censorship thing die, I was rather content to move on, but now with the advent of the red stars, I'm seeing a new more subtle form of censoring. Certain people have had stars removed and had warnings from the mods, and rightfully so. Once upon a time, these posts by these people would have been deleted or so I think. The moderators are no longer deleting things like they would have, instead, they're handing out penalties, but essentially leaving the bad posts completely UNTOUCHED.
Has censorship now gone the other way? Can we say as we please on the message board now without fear of having our words bleeped out or our posts deleted? Is the only reprimand the moderators have up their sleeves a measly penalty star?
What does everyone think of the penalty system in regards to censorship? Does it work? Is it too soft/too harsh? I for one, am curious, because there are times when I'd dearly love to push the envelope, but have a fear of being edited. Mind you, with bonuses already under my name, I can now swear a hell of a lot more than other posters can, get 7 penalties and STILL end up with 2 red stars beside my name. For most others, 7 penalties will have them most likely kicked from the board...
With these red stars and the sudden absence of censorship, am I earning my right to be bad?

Hmm Am I a bit diff???
I mean I for one dont even look at the stars behind someones name, let alone number of post etc. Just the content of whats written matters.
But as for all boards, if u use it enough u know that certain people always have something interesting to say, and some people just tick u off.
I for one try to just skim the post from the people I know can tick me off
That way I wont get any penalty stars under my name, not that I notice them anyways.
Actually I was only aware of them coz I read Shae`s post, guess u aint ticking me off
Deth`s leatherwhip seems abit drastic in this case, guess Im only gonna use my belt

I think things are rolling in censorship pretty well. If mods look messages that have words that can be described as offensive I want to see some penalties there. Of course this goes to thing were people are using different kind of ways saying their "opinion". I would like to know if one calls other one stupid in anger is this act that must be penaltized? Just asking before I claim you all idiots...
How about if somebody says another one as bad player, cheater or coward? Do these belong into these boards? Or does people take penalties after they have continued their effort to make someone else to look bad? It's hard to judge which feels insult to others and which makes other person feel bad.
The line is really thing when it comes to penalties. I'm sure I won't ever swear as in real life I hardly do that but sometimes I would like to say something very strongly. I don't mean direct attack but something that means I'm really serious about the thing I'm talking. This is the time when humour comes along. You gotta have it a little to survive here. I mean if you are going to be bombardment with something expect to be sarcasm. No need to say who is expert on this one. But even humor can be sometimes be issue that could be taken as insult. It doesn't help if someone says something that is quality point post stuff but another one wipes it off with single joke. Do penalties apply then or does mod just give tap into shoulder and say "try to hang on" ?
I can take it all, humour, insults and everything. But as in real life your respect start dropping if you don't defend yourself and sometimes you're weaponless against some things said about yourself. Should we go then cry for help from mods?
Maybe my issue went little bit further than just censorship but I think this current system where penalties are given people who take too much "freedom" in their posting is working well. However I want to see these penalties (if they are needed) also in the future not only for "show". And Shae I think you care about those stars so much you aren't for job to take insulting people...

One thing that really ticks me about all this stuff is half of the KNOWN posters here are as fake ass as Sha. None of them got the guts to put their money where their mouth is an play a game of heroes or lose a quality point when they so vigorously claim to NOT CARE about them.
Sha, I know you. You can get mad all you want, but deep down inside you have the honour of a sewer rat and the courage of a field mouse. You have the spine of a jellyfish and a will that's made of fluff! You back down from everything and couldn't stand up to a fight with someone even if they spat in your face!
