Another update is here.
Still reading the full list, but it seems that they started diversifying the different races a bit.

I laughed at that. But you are a bit late, that is more than Month old update, it just hasn't been posted here.
I am looking forward to the expansion with Frostlings and Necromancer class.

Are you certain of that? They hinted just a race with the -lings suffix. That could be any. Like... three-quarterlings...

I am not 100% sure, but I was reading somewhere else that they are releasing Frostlings first.

That would make sense as Frostlings are possibly the only unused race mentioned in the course of the campaign.

Video looks nice and new stuff is great, however... I am quite disappointed that we didn't get Frostlings and Necromancer.
I am ok about Frostlings, we got the new race at least and they didn't state that we will get Frostlings anyway, but I am pretty sure that they've said themselves how they will be releasing Necromancer class in their first expansion and I was really looking forward to it... and knowing that next DLC/expansion won't be released at least for the next ~6 months or so is really depressing.

I wouldn't count on it.
You have to consider the fact that the EXP comes with a BIIIIG patch, that is dearly needed. So MY guess is, they decided to put out a moderate EXP first to get the patch out. THEN, when the patch and the new DLC is out AND the Mac version is there, they have their hands free to rush out the Class XP in December, probably on December 18th.
I hope, that's the plan.

Yeah, I really hope they will release second expansion in December, featuring Necrolings
For this expansion, while I was a little bit disappointed that they did not add new class, well, they kind of make it up by adding Wild Magic. Oh that moment in the vid when Tombles get Red dragon...

Yeah Wild Magic is definitely amazing addition, it is like some sort of Chaos magic, mutating your and enemy units and I love Demons and Chaos.
Overall, this expansion will be good for sure, there isn't anything bad in it but I've expected more, that is all.

AoW 3 is a mix of Civ Light and HoMM.
You can pick a combination of a) Race and b) Class, with Race CURRENTLY making far less difference than Class.
Race is Human, Goblin, Dwarf Orc, Draconian and Elf, (EXP will bring in Halflings). Class is Sorcerer, ArchDruid, Dreadnaught, Warlord, Rogue and Theocrat. Race defines some basic traits of your units and economy, Class defines your Tech Tree that you cabn research and gives you different units, spells, and abilities.
Units are single units that can earn XP and upgrades (4 levels, EXP will bring a 5th). Heroes fight on the Bf and can upgrade as well (20 Levels).
There are two AM-levels, as in Heroes (AoW 2 had even 3).
In your town, you have to build units as well as dwelllings. You can also summon a lot of units, especially the ArchDruid.
So, let's say you play a Goblin Rogue. Goblin trait is, all your units have -5 HPs and cost 10% less. Also your population growth is increased and you have a movement advantage underground. Your racial units are Tier 1 Infantry, Archer, Irregular, Pikeman (Goblin Archer is special), Tier 2 Cavalry and Support (Magic shooter with racially different support abilities) and Tier 3 Big Beetle (Cavalry) which is also different with each race).
As a Rogue, your additional units that must be researched are the non-racial Tier 1 Grimbeak Crow, a fast flier, and the Tier 3+ Shadow Stalker (an incorporeal melee monster), both of which can be SUMMONED (not built in town), and 4 racial Class units, the Tier 1 Scoundrel (Irregular), the tier 2 Bard (Support), the Tier 2 Assassin (Irregular), and the Tier 3 Succubus (Support).
The game is far above everything I've played the last years, maybe with the exception of HoMM 5 RPE MOD.

Sounds interesting. I've always liked this tech, tree things.
ITs seem like It's a civ game in a fantasy world.
I think, I will give it a try next week.

Be fore warned, though, that the "civ" elements on this game is very light. You do build cities and so on, but you do not "manage" your populations as in Civ series. AOW's focus is on tactical combat, which is veeeery interesting.
Your game will go from one battle to another, and if you like battling creatures, you will love this game! But if you expect something like Civ, I am afraid you will be disappointed. You better play Fall from Heaven (a fantasy mod for Civ IV) or Ea (a fantasy mod for CiV).
Also, there is tech tree for each class, but the tech tree is partly randomised for each game. So, again, it is not like Civ games, where the tech tree is a linear tech tree. For example, a player with Fire specialisation will have the opportunity to learn Fire Halo, Summon Hell Hound and Fireball. But in a game, you might have Fire Halo first, yet in another you will get Summon Hell Hound first, and in another you will get Fireball, etc.
Edit: when generating random maps, AOW allows players to customise.
My favorite setting is:
- Average neutral cities
- Many dwellings (independent sub-race factions, such as Dragons, Faeries etc)
- No building cities
This setting create a map with lots of neutral towns and you can not build a new ones. This allow a game play that almost similar to Heroes games!

Conversely, few cities and Dwellings with the settling option makes the game more Civ-like (or will do so, when a certain RMG bug is squashed in the next patch).

My only problem is not being able to produce Watchers(Beholders), they are probably my favorite AoW1 unit and are amazing in AoW3.
