@ Tomipapa
Wow, that sounds interesting. Where did you get the information? I always hated, when my realm suffered from good-evil diplomacy, so hopefully, now there will be no problem having an elven-undead or dwarven-goblin alliance BTW, are there any news regarding the diplomacy? It was one of the best features of the AoW series (except of the pre-built clichés, that are now supposed to be removed )

From the official forum and from the biggest AoW fansite. The devs are post there regularly. No info about the diplomacy yet.

Come on ! Does no one miss Frostlings ? They weren't strong, but they oozed atmosphere. Fighting for survival in barren lands and harsh climate. Frost witches leaving snow and even frozen water in their wake, wolf riders, stalking enemies with Yetis...

I doubt that we'll see only the generic fantasy races. AoW has always been rich in creatures, including rather exotic ones.

Im also crossing my fingers for frostlings. Dont worry not only 6 races will be in game i just said that 6 will be in for sure. A key dev said they come with some surprise also so im 100% sure there will be a lizard /draconian race also. Honestly im also sure there wont be 15 or 12 races because they have to modell every races/leader combination(human martyr, elven martyr, goblin martyr and so on).

Frostlings were actually a strong race in the AoW 1. The problem was that it took forever for them to get strong.
Witches for freezing enemy fields, leading armies across water and blocking ships.
The northern glows were quite good against normal enemies(physical protection) and had excellent resistance to spells, immune to fire, cold and poison is golden. Just takes a beating from lightning and magic strikes.
Yeti is a good powerhouse for mid game.
And Ice DRAGONS. Goddamn those are good. Better than blacks and can freeze unlike reds.
Beginning is slow due to slower than normal units, unless there's water to expand with penguin they lack behind.
Mid game they get a nice steamroll going for being neutral and late game you get to rampage with dragons.
AoW2 really tuned them down though, but there's one golden unit in that. The tier-0 snowscaper, it has frostbolts!

So, all Theocrats will have these units? Elf-angel, Orc-angel, Human-angel, Goblin-angel, Frostling-angel and so on, and so forth?
Hmm, I am not sure about this... I think this will reduce racial diversity/uniqueness.

These are the leader units. Every race have its own racial units like in AoW or AoW 2 so with this system you get more not less

Nah this is just showing how different races will be affected by chosing the Theocrat leader.. they'll probably be an elf and dwarf and many other versions of these too.
A very interesting idea.. eg pick a traditional ugly evil race and make them in a holy empire of crusaders and angels!
I'm so excited about AoW3.. I love this series and always found it the perfect merger between HoMM & the cult classic Master of Magic. Hats off to Notch (Minecraft creator) for playing a bit part in bringing the series back.

Turns out the "big partner" helping fund Age of Wonders 3 isn't Epic Games but is Notch, creator of Minecraft, real name Markus Persson.
He's contributed to such a degree that Dutch developer Triumph Studios (Overlord) doesn't need a publisher for Age of Wonders 3, although distribution and co-publishing deals aren't ruled out.
Why is Notch doing this? Because he's a fan of the Age of Wonders series.
(...)
"We noticed Minecraft's random title-screen blurb mentioned Age of Wonders," he told me, "so I thought what the heck and I sent Notch an email.
"We had a demo for Age of Wonders 3 and talked to various parties including traditional publishers. There was certainly interest but the prospect of having Notch help fund was a dream come true, as he's a fan of the game and didn't insist on owning it like many of the publishers do these days when they fund development.

Ahhh, the joy of schism
Actually, I don't mind at all for Elven Engineer (or Goblin Theocrat), if these factions still have differences with, say, Human Engineer or Human Theocrat. Otherwise, the race will play no part in AoW III.
As per Tomipapa's post above, I think classes in AoW III are like religions in Fall from Heaven; everybody can go Ashen Veil and build zombies, or become treehuggers by adopting Fellowship of Leaves and summon Treants, but their core racial units are still unique to each race.
At least, I hope so

This time around, sieges will involve only one side of a city (like in Heroes, but with 3 gates). Battles are supposed to be faster than before, with less hit/miss randomness. All classes will be able to learn magic. There will be underworld, but no shadow plane.
From an interview at ag.ru:

AG: Do you want add some elements of own social network, as in Might & Magic: Heroes 6?
Lennart Sas: Oh God, no. We just added the service match making.

So what happens when you attack from all sides?.. I hope we can still do that.

I'd assume it's like in the first game where cities weren't ridiculously small like in the second.

Haven't played the first one. In the second one, the defending army had a pretty big advantage on the walls and one of the siege strategies was to stretch the defenses over all sides. How was it done in the first game?

I see. So there's just a portion of the city wall, but with lots of gates. So it's not that different from the second game. Only 3 gates, however, might mean that they'll have to change the town battle mechanics a bit.
