So what's the Heroes 3 damage formula?
Because I know it was changed numerous times from game to game. (not that I know any of them)
And since I am starting to take Heroes 3 a bit more seriously, this would be a very essential knowledge for one to have, especially on higher level of play (which I doubt I am going to reach right now, but hey).

Well, if you're into all that, Yona Mod under Era 2 displays the exact damage you'll be dealing on the battlefield so no need for all that calculation.

That is, unless you want to do some calculations before combat or calculate retaliation damage, or, let's say calculate damage your Centaurs can do when choosing what to shoot at with Grand Elves.
Some damage calculations are here, with a good summary by Ecoris on page 2. You take all damage bonuses and add them, add 1 and multiply it all by damage rolled and 1-damage reduction for every reduction applicable in the situation. Something about damage rolls is here.
If you ever see 2 or more formulas for calculating something and they give diffrent results in the same situation, try testing yourself which one gives correct results in practice.
