Way Home (the most beatifull map ever)

Currently playing this map (tried it many times before but couldnt finish because of a bug). Stuck after i took a "quiet bay" town. the only possible way to continue is blocked by 350 faries, this battle is probably doable but it seems rudiculosly hard to win it (have only some small numbers of titans and encanterers, no force field, no summoning spells, no blind plus faries seem immune to hypnitize (tried to cast it on 1 dragon with 80 hp but failed). Maybe someone can remember this map and help me out

I told you in the other forum to use WoG-SoD mod, now I could delete the fairies so you can continue. But in SoD there is nothing to do.

Check benbird's walkthrough in CH, surely he shows this battle.

I dont remember for sure, but I think you had Diamond golems or something AT your disposal, plus you should have anti-magic. Then cast anti-magic on your Best shooter and slow, then satll out the spell casts. Was Not so Hard, but I Didnt Do the Best...

Salamandre, I tried installing your mod:
Installed era mod on clean sod, then Put your mod File into the Main Directory and let IT install. After that, it wont Start, Do you know what I did wrong?

Ps: Faeries are Not immune I think, but have little Chance to bounce spell back...

Nautilus,

After installing era on sod it starts okay or not? If yes, just install the mod in heroes location, then activate it from mod manager (one icon will go on desktop). SoD mod allows pure sod (no wog scripts) but propose helpful options (selectable or not) like buy all creatures in one click, view creatures available in dwellings, disable plague, rename towns, shows real value of primary skills (up to 125), shows hero movement points remaining and also gives the opportunity to modify a save if something goes wrong ie: week of creatures place one stack which blocks the way = map dead.

No, it doesn't start. Do I have to install WoG first? If I try to start it, the mouse shows the loading icon, but after a while stops and behaves like nothing happened...

Never heard this issue: era can be get HERE (83 Mo) to be installed on clean sod, no wog, then there is a little update below (mainly for editor) to install normally on it. Then mods/maps etc.

If you have problems please report in that thread, there are ways to find what's wrong by consulting game start logs.

Salamandre

Thanks for your suggestion, but for this map i had my very old saves at the beginning and thats why i decided to play it in SoD. And anyway deleting an enemy is definetly not the way i want to win that Will check the walkthrough for sure btw.

Biobob

I sure tried this (the first think that came into my mind)but i have only 45 titans and i cant win dragons in hand-to-hand fight...

And once again about hypnotize: my hero had 17 spellpower and he failed to cast it on a 80 hp dragon (got a window "this spell wont affect anyone". whats the actual formula of hypnotize, i'm pretty sure i had enough sp to cast it?

Edit: yet another funny thing - my genies seem to be unable to cast antimagic in that fight, i tried MANY times having some stacks of genies and they used every possible spell but not antimagic. Seriosly, this game never stops surprising me

Could you upload the save so we can try it ourselves?

I think my problem with the SoD Mod is, that I overwrote the original H3.exe with the HD one for online purposes. I'll try getting it from the disc and then try again, but that'd be the only solution possible for me so far...

Nautilus, sod mod is started from h3era.exe, does not matter what you did with heroes.exe. Try h3era.exe to start game.

When I click the icon, it shows the loading circle attached to the mouse, and then crashes for no reason. Strange...

PS: Could it be a problem that I made a copy of the heroes folder, and put it into there?

If it crashes upon start, a file is created, eralog.txt or something like that. Could you please upload it and post link in era Ii thread? There may be various reasons, windows version, administrator rights, corrupted game, anyway the era log will tell what's wrong.

Look HERE, third post. An era log text file is created on crash, in main directory. There is no such file in your folder?

Nope it isn't, possibly because the program is shut down by the windows maintenance program (... is reacting no more)?

You should have 'heroes3.ini' file. Open it, change line 'Debug=0' to 'Debug=1', then try to start the game. This should produce an 'eralog.txt'.

Hey Salamandre, just wanted to ask you if you got any update on the CH walkthrough. As you may already know the images are not there anymore. Last post is all the html webpages which apparently contain the images but I have no idea how to see them. Would be great if you could help me there. Thanks !

Benbird's walkthrough on Gamerhome

If you can't (figure out how / manage) to make an account, there are some credentials posted on CH and maps4heroes if you search a bit.

In retrospect I probably have done 'Save as Complete Web Page', it would be > 100 MB before cleanup OTOH.
