I disagree, it is situational, not weak.

By the time it comes into play, I can either win, counter it, or afford to lose 1-2 creatures before I win. Personally, I find Death Seal a much greater threat, not to mention the obvious Soulreaver.

The very basic idea is to be able to play a creature + removal each turn. Silent Death is ideal for that, the drawback is it can somewhat easily be countered.

And that basic idea is fine, but the execution* is abysmal.
*Pun intended

Of course, but not every deck uses Week of the Dead, and even if they use it, they maybe won't have it at that time.
Today I destroyed one Kelthor with it, he wasn't using Week of the Dead and he probably didn't have Sacrificial Altar in the hand or he didn't have it at all in the deck. He was placing Tainted Orcs and Vulture Riders and I just kept using it and killing his units while blocking everything with Hangman Trees. It definitely seems better than wasting a Soulreaver.

There are counters yes but I'd expect most decks to lack a reliable one. And if they use a card to kill their own unit, good enough for me. The trick is setting up a good defense where you can control the amount of damage, it's an attrition battle from there on.

Yes, today I killed 2 units from Ariana, and on a 3rd she used Soulreaver to kill it. I am more than happy. ^^

I disagree, it is situational, not weak.
I don't like the fact that with Silent Death the affected unit still has their attack, needs much more strategizing than the simple soulreaver....I do like the repetition though keeping the card in play....

But that is a good thing, it is not just as simple as stupid Soulreaver...

On the one hand, yay, strategy, on the other, that makes it the weakest unique hands down, and one of the worst Dark spells as well. The only thing you can count on is that it will be countered when You'd need it the most.

Don't know, I faced Gate to Nowhere only once, and it was useless that game, and I still see Silent Death being used by top players while I've never seen Gate to Nowhere being used by them, which doesn't mean that it is worthless, but still...
