I thought it would be about Valve buying off rights to the franchise. (which I would be quite psyched about)
Either way...

93 pages filled by angry Ubisoft buyers? Why I'm not surprised, at all!

I'm all in for people getting their money back for a non-working product, but complaining about DRM on your DRM website doesn't make you look any smarter.
Here is the thing: Ubisoft won't remove their DRM, not for Steam, not for anybody else. So buying Ubisoft games post Assassin's Creed II on Steam was always a bad idea.
Secondly after the rough start of Heroes VI I'm baffled how could anyone expect that SoD would be different.

I'm with Shard on this one. Unless a publisher specifically chose Steam to distribute its game, I will try to stick as close to the publisher as possible. In the case of Ubisoft, that unfortunately means UPlay, but at least you're reducing the risk of all sorts of wanky cross-over incompatibilities between games, patches and expansions.
Mind you, I consider Steam to be a fairly good portal to the games I have on it (in fact, better than UPlay), but only from publishers who specifically selected Steam. Not as an afterthought, after their own game distribution portal.

I agree with what Shard said.
Now regarding the petition I would like to make a suggestion maybe removing the need for a uplay dependence of the game later down the line after the game has run its course I don't know after H7 when probably H6 is outdated because there are people out there who love the game and might want to play it 5 - 10 years later out of a sens of nostalgia.
But I must admit understand the spirit of the petition and share the feeling Uplay is a real pain in the a.. I had to reinstall my OS because the damned thing refused to start and no known fix worked so from my part if UBI keeps on insisting using that thing I will keep away from its products.
